I came for the wizard's cloak video, and stayed for the light-up staff. Nice work. If I were doing the staff, I'd work in a switch that was activated by a magnet (AKA, a reed switch). Then put a magnet in a ring on the wizard's hand. That way the staff would only illuminate if the wizard held it.
Thank you so much. I have been looking at staff tutorials for days now and this is the first one that I actually believe I can do. I actually have almost all of the materials and it will not cost more than buying one from the dollar store. My daughter will be so happy. We have been unable to find her one in the dollar store, and she was so disappointed. Screwing the jam jar lid to the stick GENIUS!!! The other ones had you attaching a paper machee on with wire or using an old lamp stand. All I need to do now is go find a nice solid branch. I might make two this year. My daughter is a sorceress and I am Malificent. Thank you so much for posting.
+Alfreda Morrissey yayyyy!!! thanks so much, so glad you found the video helpfull, you really made my day!! these are great ideas for costumes btw if you post any pics please send me a link or tag me, I'd love to see them!!
For one, I'm INCREDIBLY late to the party. For two, wow!!! You staff looks absolutely amazing. I've been looking up staff tutorials all day, and they all have some incredibly complex steps (like one I found had you using a soldering iron). When I saw yours in the beginning, I was convinced this, too, was going to be an expensive migraine to figure out. I couldn't have been more wrong. Your instructions were amazingly clear, the finished product looked wonderful, the parts aren't expensive, it's anime/gaming convention-safe, and best of all this staff is mindbogglingly simple to make! I can't gush hard enough over this tutorial. Thank you, thank you, thank you for making such a wonderful tutorial!
wow!! you just made my day, thank you so much and glad you liked it and found it helpful! feel free to post a pi on my social media if you make one, I'd love to see it!! :DDDDDDDD
+Mika Chan Sailor Enjoyed finding the music too! I plan to make a staff like this and will incorporate many of your excellent ideas. Appreciate your creativity.
Im a fellow props maker as well, and im really happy to find new ideas from other people. I could borrow some ideas here that would be perfect for the ren faire. Thanks man!
Thank you so very much for this DIY I was looking for some simple but very impressing wizard staff and you nail it. Hope you feeling better by now. and that was a WAO wizard staff.
I have just watched your Wizard staff video for the first time. Back last June I made my own staff using a very much the same as yours. I used 14 gauge electrical wire for the top fingers wrapping them with newspaper, and masking tape. In the center of the fingers I placed a color changing LED light. Down the staff I used rolled newspaper, and tape to create the vines hot gluing them in a random pattern. Afterward I painted it in different shades of Brown, then sealed it with a Matt spray. I would like to send you a picture of how it came out. Keep up the good work.
+Craig Short that's amazing!! yes please do, there are links to my social media in the description or use #sailordiy for public posts on instagram or twitter. thanks so much!!
Hello, I wanted to thank you for making this video.. I am going to be making a type of “Fall Forest Wizard” for this Halloween and for my sister’s photo shoot 😊
This is so cool! My daughter made a crystal ball for her Halloween costume with a plastic globe, and she coated the inside with Mod Podge topped with opalescent glitter.
Thanks for making this tutorial! It seemed daunting at first, but my cousin and I persevered and, with the direct help from this video, were finally able to create an awesome looking staff :)
Hi there! I'm using your diy for a cosplay, but the con I'm going to had a pretty strict weapon check. Was there a major weight difference between your starting dowel and the final product?
I'm dressing up as a genie. I'm using a Jasmine costume from an Aladdin play and having my hair done like that Monster High genie, and that's all I have so far
+Enlightened Discordian Thanks girl! I loved it because it went perfect with the scenes we had filmed. I only wish my voice hadn't been so old lady-sick!
I made a awesome green glow staff for my daughter's Maleficent costumes....I paper mache green tissue paper into a sphere and added a LED flashlight in the bottom
+Harley Quinn (Den mporw na sou apanthsw st' alla comments, exeis thn epilogh turned off) S'euxaristwwwww like a million!!! ta karamelakia mou ta efere mia filh apo usa alla prepei na exw dei k sto ebay!
Wow, this really truly fits... *Dime store staffs for a two bit wizards.* Y'all don't actually dabble in the dark arts do you? And the cover guy looks so serious I could almost get a hernia laughing.
