there are 2 ways to correct this [ french flute --- cover only about 75%of the open hole} ---- or {2] ---- stop blowing C3 notes as loudly as you do. I am no position to correct you.

My only problem with his playing is that his C-3 (high C) notes are too shrill ---- he needs to mute them, as can be done on a French model flute, so that he doesn't make our ears bleed. Other than that he is the best. But let's not leave out Jasmine Choi and Denis Bouriakov. Pahud? IMO he's not the same as the 3 others.
Pahud is not "the same as the others", of course - just as they are not clones of each other. James Galway might step aside eventually through ageing, as will the new kids on the block in time, but he is one of the 'giants' whose shoulders the latter have stood on.

Agreed that he is one of the finest flutists of our time except he has to mollify those screeching high notes in C3. I have to wear earplugs.
