Whenever my dog does something bad, he barks at whatever it was he destroyed like he’s shocked it could ever possibly be in that state, then tries his hardest to be extremely cute when I know, without a doubt, it was him that did it.

It's like they panic so much that they lose control of their bodies and dont know what to do, so they either freak out and wag their tail like crazy and grimace or they freeze lol. Its so strange to be able to tell with 100% accuracy exactly what an animal is thinking and feeling.

We have one dog that could do nothing all day, but if the other dog does something bad he acts guilty. We know he would never do anything legitimately bad, because he freaks out over other dogs getting in trouble. We don’t even know why he freaks out so much, he’s just always been a gentle soul.
Research has shown that sadly all of this perceived guilt is actually just a dogs response to your body language, tone and volume because they don't actually have complex enough emotions to feel responsible for something they did.
Thanks for letting us know that dogs don't talk. I never would have guessed. I could've sworn they did. Babies don't talk either. We should probably not talk to them also.
