What a night, after a huge storm, the steam rising off Peter's head was seemingly induced by my 'state of mind'. Owsley like in strength, or close to it, and I was sure I was having my own transcendent lysergic show! "No man, I saw it too!" said a friend, a convert from that night on. They 'owned' Tanelorn, they 'owned' intellectual Ozrock from that gig onwards. All afternoon, those that had turned on from the first line, first line 'there a shit storm a comin' (or early Royal Antler gigs) were babbling in the paddocks like maniacal preachers. 'You wait , you wait, what you will see tonight will changer yer effing life!' ..we spruiked. It did. I was 40 metres out, in the middle, on a rise which had a small eroded gully and we smoked glass chillums and shared and giggled while we watched people's heads explode. The most powerful set I have ever seen in my 59 years. I bore my grandkids at Christmas Harry Joy style with the story. Will see them at last gig in Brisbane in 3 weeks. I can die after that. The most important band in history I dare to submit.
I'm from North Wales, I love them too : ) Never saw them but was introduced to them singing Lucky Country on some late night music program, here in the UK in the early 80s : )
Well said damien i was at the capital theatre in 1982 16 years old wasn’t allowed in pubs but wasn’t going to miss that concert.I’ve watched it on youtube many times almost in tears that was my youth right there.
Gifford is a beast! Hirst is so powerful and tight.
An absolutely awesome concert with a fantastic lineup 👍
from 1980 -87 they were untouchable, no one in the world came near them, especially live but also in the studio.

The bass, the dueling guitars, the drums. Perfection.
An absolute masterpiece, especially on stage . This group is one of the very best in the History of Rock and Roll
No one could match the Oils in their prime. The best and most powerful band ever to come out of Australia.
Australian's best band.
One of the very best bands in the world !
I would have loved to have been at this gig.
The best festival I’ve been to
And the best memories ❤
