The largest religious street festival in Kathmandu, Nepal, is Indra Jatra, also known as Yeny (Nepal Bhasa: ). There are two events that make up the celebrations: Indra Jatra and Kumari Jatra. The festival of Indra Jatra is distinguished by masked dances of gods and demons, displays of holy images, and tableaus dedicated to the god Indra, the ruler of heaven. The Kumri Jatra is the chariot procession of the living goddess Kumari. Additionally, the Living Goddess Kumari's chariot is brought out and paraded through Kathmandu's streets . Thousands of spectators gather to see the joyful procession led by masked dancers known as Lakhey. It is an eight-day-long Jatra festival that falls in September.
