very nostalgic listening to this chap. Very fond memories of visiting my granny Jane Anne Duthie in Cairnbulg

Thank you John for your remarks. Yes, I agree and this was the reason I recorded these older folks so long ago as I knew they were a generation with a strong story to tell and it was important that those in the future should hear their tales too. BEST WISHES JOHN

      @@jamestaylor7375 hi
My granny told me lots of stories of her childhood including carrying creels of fish into the countryside to barter, working in service for the local minister etc. I remember her drying yellow fish on the step in the back yard and making ‘potted heid’ yuck!!
A bygone era that you’re doing well to record, thanks

@@johnritchie343 Yes my grandfather came from Cairnbulg too. He had a Fifie sailing drifter and converted it to a motor drifter around 1912. They did have stories worth telling of ages back.

They must have known each other. My email is John.ritchie.uk@gmail.com. It would be good to find a connection
      Best wishes

Just thinking, there may be a family connection as my mother’s middle name was Taylor. My great grandfather was a skipper Robert Duthie and we owned the fish and chip/ ice cream shop before it became ‘Peter’s’

Well that is interesting and I cannot recall your folks but I remember Peter very well indeed. My grandfather from belger was a Stephen.

      Hi
My granny lived at 2Rathen Road on the corner next to Peters until she died, and 5hen 5h3 house was owned by my uncle Jim. My gran, Josephine Cow nee ‘Duthie’ was best friends with Annie Stephen who had the general shoppie at the other end of Cairnbulg, where I enjoyed many an evening while they had a good claik!!
