I recently listened to “Absolute Surrender “ by Andrew Murray. It is (for the most part) the exact opposite of what Andrew Farley teaches. For years after becoming a Christian, I tried to find “more of God”. I already had God living in me. I tried to “find forgiveness “ when all my sins were already forgiven. I tried to find the “deeper life” but already had it. Thank God I finally read “The Naked Gospel” and could rest in the Finished work of Christ.

God bless Andrew Farley for clarifying the meaning of denying of the old (!) self, not the new self in Christ where I agree with in the name and by the blood of Christ, putting twisting of scripture under the feet of Christ. Demons definitely want to twist this part of scripture, but God has our best interest in mind, praise Yah, praise Jesus! I also pray more people will find a new self in Christ within oneself. Hallelujah! Annelies Bakker, the Netherlands.

One of the issues with this teaching (I really like Farley by the way) is that we still struggle with the reality that sin is ever present in our fallen nature and that we do not live as we should in every moment of life. The taking up of the cross and the denial of the self-life (that independent, morally autonomous life that seeks to justify itself apart from God), is still a necessary element of the Christian life. We are no longer condemned by sins presence in our members, but we should not think that there is no need to deny the passions and self-justifying elements of our old nature that will from time to time, wage war against us. Resisting temptation is probably similar to what Jesus meant by denying your self-life and taking up the cross. God bless you Andrew

Depends on the context. Not all verses are for godly living, not all verses are for salvation. Even in this video Andrew teaches we deny ourselves when we give in to sin, because we are in Christ. It's a beautiful message showing because we are in Christ we ought to act like it. This message doesn't deny the struggle of temptation or the necessity to be on guard. I see no issue.

, but I love God. Why would I deny myself? He is my hope and strength. The only thing left to deny is sin, of which I'm dead to. There are plenty of scriptures that teach stewardship, but this "self denial" doesn't seem to be one of them. It's only fitting to deny myself if I'm against God, and once upon a time I was. That man has passed away, fully denied.

How can I move forward if all I am doing is defending. If i have a defective self I want protection of myself as my self will sabotage me but when myself is intact and fully His I can score touchdown after touchdown with the fruit of the Spirit.

Paul defines in Galatians 2 that being crucified to Christ means to not trust in the law but we are alive in Christ by faith.

The word "daily" IS NOT 100% verified to be in the original manuscripts used for translation. I also respectfully challenge you to look up the original greek verb tenses of the verbs "deny," "take," and "follow." Two of them are in the aorist tense which is a unique past tense in greek indicating a one time action that occurred in the past. Fact check it, fellow Berean. If an interpretation, no matter how interesting it sounds, does **not agree** with the grammar present in inerrant Scripture, then we should at least reconsider our conclusions and retrace.

Take My yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light". @@2Chronicles714_He told the Jews at that time to repent of sin and believe . That is the whole point why we have been going back and fourth here. You do not understand the truth of the gospel but still believe that we must repent of our sins first and believe second to be saved and then keep working and striving for his righteousness. That couldn't be further from the truth. You are living in a time past bible doctrine that was meant for the lost sheep of Israel and not meant for believers living today who are saved by grace alone by faith alone. We don't seek God's righteousness. Jesus was teaching the Jews this because they were still under covenant and that was the proper way to seek God by way of the law before the cross. When we accept Jesus Christ by grace through faith we are sanctified and made righteous through what he did for us already when we believe and not by seeking his righteousness first and then all things will be added to us after. All things have been given to us through the finished work of Christ when we believed that he did what he did when we believe this by faith.
