I actually love the tiny bubbles which are left in the resin even after the degassing process, they actually help sell the idea that this is water, rather than a perfectly still and smooth chunk of resin.
i thought the same. in fact it would be cool to introduce bubbles, for example as a column above the diver's head. ( sort of like trapped-bubble glass ) ??
You don't want resin bubbles in any type of resin pours as the gasses trapped in those bubbles could make it crack in the future or make it turn yellowish
I dig the choice not to add the light. You have the gap on top so you still get light in the way you initially intended, but the lack of any electronics gives it an elegant simplicity that makes it unique. Another great piece!
I like how you went "Old-School" and scratch built the diver, instead of 3D Printing it. As a sidebar, about the only diver kits I know of are the Heller Frogmen kit, and the frogmen that come with the Monogram UDT Boat - both are in 1/35th scale. Thanks for sharing your skills and imagination, Boylei! 186th Like.
@CaseStone-520 Kinda depends on who you're talking to! It wasn't for me, but being that he doesn't usually do that, I'm sure it scared some people. I even had to go back to see the small warning ⚠️!
@@StewartFletcher in the beginning of the video, it said there was a foam jump scare. it was really quick but it's there. idk how people jumped from that tho lol
@iain.sm.c Yup! For normal air tanks usually they just put regular "air" with a scuba compressor. For more specialized mixes like nitrox they can change the proportion of oxygen/nitrogen (e.g. 32% O2 68% N) or even put some other gases like helium instead of nitrogen
I doubt you'll ever see this, but thank you for always making comfort content (at least in my eyes). I've been watching you since early 2022, and it's been so exciting watching your skills improve, and just seeing the evolution of everything. I can always rely on your art to make me feel better :)
I absolutely love how elegant and simple this is. No electrics, the cutout at the top allowing for natural light to pour in, just as if it were a real cave. Also, tiny bubbles still present in the resin, although an error, really help sell this scene. Really lovely stuff 😮
Really love the atmosphere of this build. Very simple in it's way, but all the more moody for it. You were right to not put in a light source - the movement of the light across the rock and diver works so well.
Even though you used acrylic paints on the foam, it was a very good thing to put that ModgePodge on there as a base. That foam will have various gasses in it. So when the resin is added, those gasses would have likely caused a lot of bubbles. Awesome diorama!
This made me think of an idea for a similar diorama build. A diver exploring a wreck, shining a light into a hole in the side, lighting up a giant eye from some creature.
Day two of asking you to add a mountain man class to your game, it would be like a cross between a barbarian and a ranger. An incredible understanding and respect for nature combined with the ability to wield an axe with cold blooded intention. Also, can you please make a diorama for him with a warg, either fighting it or walking with it. Love your work btw
It has to feel so comforting knowing you can create projects that you love and get paid to do so. It’s a great time to be alive. Love all of your work man 👍🏼 1M incoming!
It's a beautiful piece, it's kinda weird not seeing any monsters in it, but I guess for the diver over coming his fear of the Deep Water, that the Abyss itself is his own monster. Very Cool Build. 🙂👍👍👍
Now that is Pretty. Also with out a direct light source the ambient light that filters in gives a deep water look that is haunting and stunning good job!
A nice simple craft, very well done! This gave me ideas for making resin pours for various book nooks, and I'd love to see some more "book nook" friendly projects of yours. Maybe Wild Imaginary West related or just something unique altogether. You've given me a lot more confidence in working with resin, so I'll definitely be trying my own very soon I think!
Love this build. FYI - scuba divers don’t pack pure oxygen in their cylinders. It’s typically just compressed air, and if the dive plan is to dive to certain depths, a mixture of helium is added to replace some of the nitrogen to help curb the effects of nitrogen narcosis. An intoxicating effect of breathing large amounts of compressed nitrogen at depths beyond 70m I believe for most people. Divers like this guy shouldn’t be alone, should have a light and 2 backups, and a dive line which would help him relocate to the cave entrance.
I think it's awesome to interact with Thallassophobia and other fears with art, and as always the final visual is amazing! Resin pours are always super fun to watch too, I hope to work with similar project one day when I have enough spare income to consistently buy stuff to work with.
That turned out fantastic! I don't suggest conquering a fear of water with cave diving, though. Caves are terrifying and dangerous places even without water.
XD Foam jumpscare Watching how you texture your rocks, it made me think of North of the Border's technique of smacking foam pieces with actual rocks and made me snicker to myself 😅
In fact (if I remember correctly) at least some diving suits are made from textile with foam-like structure, so foam have a little more common with diving :D
I feel like this is one of your simpler creations this year yet I'd argue it's one of your best. Its atmosphere alone really captures the mood.
one of your best.......... i'd agree. the rocks and the diver ALL seem to float free - because: no frame
True, but that's just an aesthetic. It's clear down there. Dead still and clear.
to me they look like suspended particulates
I think in this diorama especially. Thinking logically the diver would have an oxygen tank meaning they would be breathing out air.
You don't want resin bubbles in any type of resin pours as the gasses trapped in those bubbles could make it crack in the future or make it turn yellowish

I appreciate the warning for the jump scare
Wuss
@@docholliday4546, takes one to know one. 🤪
Is it even a jump scare if you get warned about it?
This would make an incredible bookend! especially if the other side had something similar but with a monster
I was thinking the same thing!
Motion is carried...
You know he’s got a monster one coming!
I fifth this idea!
Alone in the deep dark water is scary enough without a monster, good call! Eerie, good shading, no extra lighting was perfect.

I can't believe the ratio between views & Likes!!! How can you watch a Bolie video yet not hit the 👍???
Sometimes a diorama doesn't need huge monsters to be impressive. Nice job!
Standing it on end totally sells the depth look. Awesome build as usual.
The jump scare was hilarious
Huh there is no jump scare
@CaseStone-520 Kinda depends on who you're talking to! It wasn't for me, but being that he doesn't usually do that, I'm sure it scared some people. I even had to go back to see the small warning ⚠️!
Wait when was the jump scare? I didn't see anything!
@@StewartFletcher in the beginning of the video, it said there was a foam jump scare. it was really quick but it's there. idk how people jumped from that tho lol
Easy mistake to make, but we actually usually dive with "air" tanks (21% oxygen). A pure oxygen tank would be deadly at depth. Great work!
That's really interesting. Is the other 79% nitrogen?
@iain.sm.c Yup! For normal air tanks usually they just put regular "air" with a scuba compressor. For more specialized mixes like nitrox they can change the proportion of oxygen/nitrogen (e.g. 32% O2 68% N) or even put some other gases like helium instead of nitrogen
This one was kinda awesome. Probably the best I've seen on this channel for the past 6 month.
Simple, but good.

boylei vids always make me smile. this is good. . . . . . . . . .
That conversion into the diver was brilliant. So simple, yet convincing.
This guy has some great ideas and that’s what makes him one of the best diorama artists on TH-cam
Amazing work as always. Those final shots are so satisfying to me, and all I did was watch you make it. I can't even imagine how they make YOU feel.

Awesome diorama!
Really like this one. Nice job.
9:20 Dunno how to explain it, but I see faces in that shot on the rocks.
Welcome to pareidolia.
This made me think of an idea for a similar diorama build. A diver exploring a wreck, shining a light into a hole in the side, lighting up a giant eye from some creature.
I second this, little LED work to make the flashlight, an eye cabochan..... that'll be really cool liking
A great step-by-step process. Beautiful art work 👌👍
So love it, great idea sticking to no lights!!
I love the details and color and how they bring all the relatively simple things to life
I really like the paint job on the rocks, simple but realistic
I love how the natural light shines in
I really like how you made a WW II Infantryman into a scuba diver. And no monster to spoil his swim!
Honestly those tiny air bubbles that survived made it look so much better

It is definitely one of the most speaking and spectacular dioramas I’ve ever seen you do, absolute masterpiece
Super cool effect with the natural light cascading through the opening, you always seem to know when a build needs LEDs or not
Gorgeous! Leaving out the light was definitely the right call.
Simple, yet, a beautiful piece of art.
Damn, Boylei. The eerie atmosphere and lighting in this is spectacular. I'm obsessed with that diver.

This being Boylei and the word FEAR being in all caps, I was primed for the monster. Glad this diver just gets to dive and explore.
Holy hell, Man!! That is a wicked clear pour!! 😮😮😮
Stunning colors and simplicity. My favorite yet!
Probably my favorite resin underwater diorama, it’s really beautiful
Your work is very inspiring. Makes me want to learn more.
The vibe on this live is AMAZING. Your videos make my Sunday. I felt lost while you were on vacation.
Your deep resin pours have improved so much since the first few efforts - they’re almost an anti-climax these days!
What a fun build! Love the simplicity of this and always enjoy your resin pour dioramas.
That looks amazing!!! Would be great to put it on a shelf with a masked small light shining in.
Beautiful!!!
?????? Could a syringe be used to carefully place a bubble trail rising up from the divers mouth piece?
Thanks!!!
Ohhh nice….and creepy. That lighting effect in the glamour shots was awesome
sometimes less is more, and this is a brilliant example of that, good work, boylei 😄
If you have silicone molds, you can pour your extra resin into them to create rocks
Beautiful! Just something about the lighting and colours you've used!
I think he Concord the fear of deep sea diving. It looks so calm and peaceful down
there. Thanks👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 🐙🐬🦀🐡🐠🐟
I think this might be my favorite diorama of yours.... Ever.
I would love another deep water diorama of a giant boylei eating a diver..
Wow! That looks amazing!!
This is awesome! I love the simplicity and the scratch built diver

Excellent video. My kiddo was wondering why there wasn't a monster? In his words "He always adds a monster!”
maybe it's hiding. you have to look VERY carefully. bit like the kid in the stripey jersey !! ??
@@raymondo162 good call. I'll have him look more closely haha
This is one of the best youtube channels I’ve ever come across. I admire your work greatly!
Super eerie and cool. I also have a fear or deep water. One of my biggest fears is bodies of water underground like in caves and such. Wonderful work.
I really look forward to these Sunday night videos. Excellent work as always!
Love this build.

Felt like classic Boylei! Loved it ~
Superb kit bash for the diver - love it
You did a perfect job on that resin! It's beautiful and I thoroughly enjoyed your craftiness as usual!:)
The diver makes me think of the opening of Johnny Quest and Eternaut. The way you did the light has a real romantic quality to it
This is actually a MASTERPIECE !
i've said that soooo many times before. . . . . . . . but, as ever - this one is a cut above...........
Love it so much! Next time, you should make a resin pour with a monster in your imaginary Wild West theme.
This would make a really cool night light.
Awesome video and even more awesome diorama! Your videos are just the highlight of my week whenever they come out
Kudos and a tipping of my hat to you for your soldier to scuba diver conversion! very well done!!
OOOOOoooo yeah. that's a classic. it's kinda like a 3d picture with no frame ?? Nice one. real nice
Superb. Like the lighting of it and no giant crustacean monsters coming after him. 👍
That foam jump scare was horrifying, I got so scared that I left and had faced MY fear and came back. 🤣
You know it's gonna be a good day when boylei posts
Amazing as always. Makes me want to see the Z’Gok Gundam suit (very famous for being an aquatic mech) in a full resin pour
Thank you for your creativity and awesomeness!
So fun when you make stuff into the not intended stuff.
Dang man, this is one of your best yet!
This is one of my favourite dioramas you’ve done… awesome stuff!
To clean the edges at the end you should buy a deburrer tool. I use it after milling Dibond sheets and plexiglass at work 😊
this is such an amazing creation. the lighting and paint is perfect
This was a good one! The diver came out pretty great!
Crazy kitbashing work boylei, as always
XD Foam jumpscare
Watching how you texture your rocks, it made me think of North of the Border's technique of smacking foam pieces with actual rocks and made me snicker to myself 😅
Looks very peaceful! Lovely.
Yes your back!!
Stunning as usual!
This must be one of your cleanest resin pours, looks incredible man! I am not fond of deep water either, you captured the phobia perfectly!
Great work and always a welcome distraction on a Sunday.
Outstanding video and presentation.
You always capture such a mood with your dioramas.
How to make anything, especially diving, even scarier? Make it CAVE diving! Caves are so scary to me.
Yeah, caves can get pretty spoopy, especially the ones under water
I really like how you edited this video.
The music is fun and it has a slightly new style compared to some of your other videos.
Keep it up! I love it
A subnautica diorama would be soo cool or just any underwater wreckage with a lil guy inside
Anyways great video!

Indeed. It's foamed neoprene.
Man you come up with some great idea's!
