Fred's will be interesting as Frank voice him 97% and then voiced the PNSC version in a flashback. There's a bit where Fred mimics Scooby during What's new and there's Family guy and a Teen TITAN'S GO episode.
The only problem with Welker's Scooby is that the longer he goes the less Scooby-Doo has his speaking ticks which are a huge part of the character's charm.
Jetty Wallace This. I actually don’t mind Scooby speaking in complete sentences but I do wish Frank’s recent performances still had more of the “dog” accent
I just think the problem is that he has too much to say. The more lines he has, the more clear the voice has to be, which means losing some Scooby inflections. Notice how Welker still has the inflections when Scooby has short exclamations or uses his catchphrases.
@@ZipplyZane I just finished Mystery Incorporated and one of my few issues was that Scooby had some very awkward dialogue due to the necessities of the writing.
Frank Welker certainly is the best candidate for Don Messick's successor out of everyone that's followed after, but I feel like in the most recent stuff he's made Scooby sound a tad too intelligible, with the dog-like speech impediment almost completely gone.

This is true! I remember how he used to say only so little at a time, and it surprises me to hear full sentences and even that one singing part shown in Be Cool...Evolution to be sure!
Fun fact Frank Welker originally intended to voice Scooby Doo from the beginning along with Shaggy because he actually preferred to do the really silly characters than the leader. And sure Don Messick used Astro's voice is inspiration for Scooby's voice but that was Frank Welker's idea apparently.
Yes and Casey Kasem was auditioning for Fred originally, because coming from radio he wanted to be the straight man. Don Messick got Scooby early on, and after listening to Welker and Kasem's readings HB switched their roles.
Frank could have easily done both though and what do you mean Don used Astro's voice is inspiration FOR Scooby's voice? Astro came way after his Scooby performance.
I never realized Frank Welker didn't start voicing him until What's New, Scooby-Doo? That was the show I mainly watched as a kid besides the occasional original episodes with my dad and I always just assumed it was Frank Welker.

Messick already did that in one episode of The New Scooby and Scrappy-Doo Show (1983): "Wizards and Warlocks." When Scooby saw a sign written in his native tongue -- "RHIRD REVEL - ROTS OF RUCK" -- he actually reads the sign in perfect English, saying "THIRD LEVEL - LOTS OF LUCK." Shaggy, of course, did not understand him, asking: "Like, what did you say, Scoob?" and Scooby, reverting back to his native tongue, responds: "Ri ron't row, Raggy" ("I don't know, Shaggy").
Yeah Scoobys voice really started to change during 2015. I can agree with everyone else that I dont like him talking in complete sentences. Although, i'm wondering if Frank having scooby talk a lot was his decision or a writing decision.
I actually really like the more anthropomorphic his voice gets as he got more antro himself. I have auditory processing issues, and his original 1969 voice is just a little too hard for me to understand.
Though people do make a really good point when they say Frank's speech gets more and more coherent with each new production, and that's odd for Scooby because a lot of his charm does come from his "dog talk". It's a little bit like when Blue could suddenly speak normally when "Blue's Clues" became "Blue's Room". What made her unique was that she could only speak in "bow bows" and leaving clues was her way of communicating with Steve and/or Joe. So I'm gonna have to say Don is the best because he mostly maintained Scooby's signature speech pattern throughout his whole career, but Frank is still a very very close second.
1. Don Messick: Can't beat the original. 2. Scott Innes: Always thought he was a good successor to both Don and Casey Kasem as Shaggy. Don't know why they stopped using him. 3. Close call, but I’m going to have to go with Don Messick, as he has a bit more rasp in his voice, which I think is especially important for voicing Scooby. Still, Frank Welker does a very good job filling in, especially considering how much more dialogue is required for Scooby these days. It’s actually kind of ironic that Welker ended up with the part considering that it was the role he had initially intended to audition for back when the original show was in production. As for the other voices: Innes is a decent replacement. Fanning sounds a bit too comically exaggerated, which isn’t helped by the somewhat dated animation. It’s not necessarily bad, but it just sounds like such a weird interpretation (never been a particular fan of the live action movies). Kay’s pretty off, but he seems to have been a really last minute replacement (there’s video of Casey Kasem recording for that Johnny Bravo episode available on TH-cam dating from late October 1996, about a month after Messick’s stroke and subsequent retirement). Ranking: 1. Don Messick 2. Frank Welker 3. Scott Innes 4. Neil Fanning 5. Hadley Kay
Don Messick and Scott Innes are definitely the two best. I love Frank, but his voice is too deep and (especially in later iterations) he seems to have dropped Scooby's trademark "r" being added to the beginning of words. I don't like that.
@@DaveLeeDownUnder My class is flim history of the 20th century, and for my essay I decided to write about animation films, and iam writing about Disney, MGM, WB, FOX, Studio Ghibli and how those animation had made impact on the world.
I like Scott Innes and Neil Fannining’s interpretations of the character, however Don Messick was iconic. It was the laugh, the howl, it was everything. I think the only thing I disliked about his performance is that sometimes Scooby’s speech was muffled and what he said wasn’t always clear. Maybe that was the point, but if he’s going to talk, you’d think the viewer should understand him. The opposite is true for Frank Welker. You can understand him too much. He’s got the laugh down pat, if only he could add in more r’s and talk less in general it would be perfect.
1. Don Messick - Classic, great, really sounds like a dog. 2. Frank Welker Very close, but Don is the basis for every other Scooby voice, so he earns first place in my opinion. 3. Scott Innes - Different from the other two, but the main thing that puts him here is that all of his movies were amazing and some of the first movies I ever watched 4. Neil Fanning - I absolutely love the two live action films, and think Neil did a great job, I just liked Scott’s different interpretation a little more 5. Hadley Kay - Definitely tried his best and his Scooby is serviceable, but he was only Scooby for the Johnny Bravo episode, so he is the lowest ranked Scooby voice actor for me.

Frank Welker is the best voice actor of Scooby Doo.
There's a bit in "What new Scooby Doo" where Fred mimics Scoob despite Weller playing both he mad the voice sound distinct from both.
Scott Innes lowkey my fav🤷🏽♂️
Ngl I physically can't deal with Be Cool Scooby Doo and I hope they return more to a more silent Scooby in the newer incarnations
Don messick is by far the cutest voice for scooby doo.
Super cool cool Will you ever do sponge bob ?
Yes, eventually
Dave Lee Down Under yay I can’t wait 😊
You’re the best
Thanks 😎
Dave Lee Down Under you’re wlomc I love your videos
Ranking:
1. Don Messick
2. Frank Welker
3. Scott Innes
4. Neil Fanning
5. Hadley Kay
Scooby your so adorable
I preferred it when Scooby wasn't speaking in full sentences.
Don Messick and Scott Innes are definitely the two best. I love Frank, but his voice is too deep and (especially in later iterations) he seems to have dropped Scooby's trademark "r" being added to the beginning of words. I don't like that.
I think Neil Fanning was the best
Iam actually using your videos as reference to do research on my Essay
That’s awesome! What’s your essay on?
@@DaveLeeDownUnder My class is flim history of the 20th century, and for my essay I decided to write about animation films, and iam writing about Disney, MGM, WB, FOX, Studio Ghibli and how those animation had made impact on the world.
Scooby doo has a brother named Scooby Dum
Cartoon Network and boomerang needs Scooby Doo Back on TV restored
When will u be uploading another video
What do you mean? Another Scooby voice evolution or another video in general?
Dave Lee Down Under just another video in general
2:48 "Scooby doo"🐕
*Shaggy uses 0.00069% of his powers to create a perfect voice acting for master Scooby*
I wish Scooby Doo will be my Dog because mom and I are just like Shaggy and Velma
My favorite is Scott Innes 😊😊💕
I like Scott Innes and Neil Fannining’s interpretations of the character, however Don Messick was iconic. It was the laugh, the howl, it was everything. I think the only thing I disliked about his performance is that sometimes Scooby’s speech was muffled and what he said wasn’t always clear. Maybe that was the point, but if he’s going to talk, you’d think the viewer should understand him. The opposite is true for Frank Welker. You can understand him too much. He’s got the laugh down pat, if only he could add in more r’s and talk less in general it would be perfect.
(1969-2019) Scooby-Doo is a best Show And Movie Ever 😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃
10:12 ...did... did he just say...hashtag Scooby Dooby Doo? 😐
Yes, yes he did. I wish I have NEVER hear it!🤦🏾♂️
Never seen Mystery Incorpored and be cool. Him talking so well throws me off.
Here are my picks for the best Scooby-Doo voice actors.
1: Don Messick
2: Frank Welker
3: Scott Innes
Don Messick was the best voice of Scooby Doo.
Did you know that 1969 is also the year that sesame street released?
1. Don Messick - Classic, great, really sounds like a dog.
2. Frank Welker Very close, but Don is the basis for every other Scooby voice, so he earns first place in my opinion.
3. Scott Innes - Different from the other two, but the main thing that puts him here is that all of his movies were amazing and some of the first movies I ever watched
4. Neil Fanning - I absolutely love the two live action films, and think Neil did a great job, I just liked Scott’s different interpretation a little more
5. Hadley Kay - Definitely tried his best and his Scooby is serviceable, but he was only Scooby for the Johnny Bravo episode, so he is the lowest ranked Scooby voice actor for me.
We love Scooby Doo
