I just bought this kit and will be referring back to your series many times probably for the next month.
So, THANK YOU for producing these!
I just wanted to add that the visual fuel gauge, the clear bit on the yellow line, was for the drop tank only I think.

yes I think that’s correct re the fuel gauge

I've been following you since the Hood project (which was really impressive) and I'd like to give you credit for how the videos have gotten significantly better over time. Especially the narration/voiceover is much more natural and rich now than before, but also the filming itself and not least the editing is really good now. I will follow along with interest. Keep up the good work.

Great feedback thanks. I’ve been building models for years but the whole thing of video and audio recording and editing is a fast learning curve. I’m trying to improve with time so it’s nice to know you think the effort is worthwhile. 👍

Hi Steve greta build! When doing the dreaded belts, leave the buckles on the fret and thread and glue the belts before cutting them off, much easier to handle.
    Cheers mate.

I just took delivery of this kit today, so glad to have found this build series. The instructions are certainly a bit different. One thing I do like is they have the colours listed at the bottom of each page so you don't have to make a list or keep referring to the front/back of the instruction sheet/book.

You've solved a mystery for me Steve. I couldn't figure out a way of doing the dial bezels in red/yellow in a neat way. Simply paint the whole thing and lay the decal over it. You will remember the 32nd Tamiya Spitfire has them on the lower right also. A great tip that I will be using.

tip for you with those belts: don't hold them in tweezers! use little bits of tamiya tape and hold them down onto your mat, and then you can thread buckles, glue bits etc and you still have 2 hands free! :)

I wish I hadn't started mine before I saw your two videos. Very good presentation and results speak to your skill level. I hope to be at your level one day. I've completed primary painting for my Z-M BF109 and close to getting the insignia's painted (as soon as the masks show up). One thing about the ZM kits I've built are they are a marvel of engineering and almost comically hard to put together and if you mess them up even by a tiny bit, you'll pay for it later. ZM uses interlocked parts and you build them in sections, not unlike real planes. It's cool and all but seriously over engineered. I did catch the engine fit issues you spoke of and found a few more...especially fit issues when I combined the sections. I would dry fit everything, multiple times and yet I still ended up w/gaps in cowlings when I attached the engine. Also had a small gap at the wings...recommend you sand down the wing root section as it attaches to the fuselage.
I find Tamiya 1/32 scales just as detailed as ZM kits, but I rarely have fit issues w/Tamiya like I've had w/ZM. The good news is plastic-card and sanding can fix just about anything. I just wish they would put more "stuff" as optional parts rather than all those interior parts you never see again after closing them up.
All that said, a way freaking cool model...and a great kit so far...but a minor panic attack trying to make it all work. Good luck the rest of the build !

Seems a less than ideal location for the battery. One well placed round and you'll be bathed in battery acid and in a ground loop, you'll be catching it with the back of your skull. Either way, ouch! Beautiful job on the detail Steve. Great video as always.

I usually don’t complain much but i have found it harder than usual this time to make out the pieces against the cutting mat. Might be the color of the dividing lines vs the very dark gray vs the styrene parts. Just my opinion. Otherwise i sure am looking forward to next episode!
Edit: btw the belts are RB belts it’s on the pe etch fret and not zm proprietary. ZM usually reboxes aftermarket sets from master models for the brass or eduard sometimes for the etch!

Given that your were just recently on a long airplane ride, you may have a touch of what used to be known as "convention crud" where, after a trip among a number of strange people, one gets a bit of a croup.

Well in the RAF we were taught that we maintained aircraft - but I like that there is a world community here so we get used to each other’s use of language. I sometimes wonder how I’m understood across the pond with what is quite a Northern British accent.
