    Hello guys.
    Yes, we know this isn't our usual vlog & we apologise. As we are now travelling & filming our Tokyo food adventure, we are not able to edit our usual vlogs until we get back home.
    Now you're probably thinking...If you can't edit a quality vlog, just stop uploading until you get home! That's what we did for our entire youtube career & we are being penalised severely by TH-cam Algorithm. Let us give a quick explanation to how youtube recommends videos:-
    'TH-cam Algorithm is a program & it does not differentiate between a good video & a bad video. What it wants from creators is, among other criteria, consistency in uploads. Which means if we upload 1 video a week, we must keep it up forever or the algorithm stops. The moment it stops, when our new videos launch TH-cam doesn't show it to anyone (Think of it as you opening a shop at the mall & they board your entrance).'
    If this continues the channel will eventually die. The Gourmet Plate isn't just a passion of ours but also our career. It means we need to pay bills & cover costs. When we started this channel we decided to do this the right way by being completely honest with our food adventures & even going as far as doing ground work before we start filming. We believe it's also rather evident from the way our vlogs are filmed that it takes up not just a significant amount of research & time during filming but also during the editing process. Not to mention our team consists of a grand total of 2 members 🙃
    We love eating & we love sharing our food experiences. We want to keep this channel going forever. And for it to happen we must consistently upload.
    So here's our plan...Every time we travel we'll come up with small vlogs called Behind The Plate that shows a mixture of our ground work, sneak peeks, back end. This allows us to at least be able to edit a good quality vlog by reducing our sleep & rest time during our travels.
    Once we get back home, our usual, proper food vlogs will resume. We're basically 'filling the gap' during our travels with a new Mini Series instead of making 'half decent' food vlogs.
    We completely understand if anyone isn't interested in this Mini Series. For this trip we will have 4 Mini Series episodes, after which our proper Tokyo food vlogs will start. We will post a community post update for those who want to only return for the usual vlogs 😉
    For those who enjoy this new series, thanks for the support & for keeping us afloat 🙏
    Sincerely,
    Wei Loon & Quet

    True this is a huge problem for creators, everyday life (food, cooking, groceries, "ordinary" what you eat a day; review of new products or items released, tipps, life as creator, tipps on traveling/budget, cutural insights ...) is great as well, always support you. Take care

    Actually it’s a brilliant idea to see you two at work.
    You are so right about the TH-cam algorithm. I found your channel by accident because it randomly showed up in my recommended feed a year ago and I subscribed to it. I also subscribe to another channel and the people upload a new video every week and shorts everyday and their new videos keep showing up on my recommended feed even though I’m already subscribed to their channel!

    I think the mini vlogs are great. It’s like a teaser before the actual episode comes out. There is a lot of work behind the camera tat ppl don’t know and it’s good that you share that with us too. Looking forward to more videos. Good luck guys

      Btw the Belgium waffle is the type from Liège with pearl sugar, this gives it its special texture inside of caramelized sugary bits. The other Belgium waffle type would from Brussels and softer plus square, both use yeasted doughs. Would love to try the apple one 💕

    • @TheGourmetPlate
      @TheGourmetPlate  ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow, thanks for sharing this info Katrin! We always thought Belgian waffle is only from Brussels hahaha, good to learn new things from you 😊

    • @katrinlausch3078
      @katrinlausch3078 ปีที่แล้ว

      And the Liege style is harder (texture) because of the pearl sugar, even freshly made. So it is not fluffy at all. These days they are sold like you had it not only plain but also coated (chocolate) or with different flavours plus Liege style is more oval shaped. Thank you for your kindness 😇✨

    Not sure about this concept. It may dilute your primary series. Also, the motivation for this series, as you said, is to boost viewership, which seems self -serving. I would go back to the drawing board, and examine your long term goals. Good luck

    • @TheGourmetPlate
      @TheGourmetPlate  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Paul, nice to see you again!
      Perhaps there has been a misunderstanding, the primary series will not be diluted as previously we stop uploading whenever we travel & only start uploading again once we get home. What we're doing now is basically 'filling in the gaps' with a Mini Series when we're travelling. This isn't to boost views, rather, it's to stop the algorithm from destroying our channel.
      As there's only 2 of us & TH-cam requires consistent uploads, we only have 2 choices. Either we churn out 'half baked' food vlogs while we're travelling, or we come up with a new idea for a shorter form vlog where we can still edit at a good level when we travel by squeezing out time from our sleep & rest. Of course we also felt this Mini Series shows more of what we actually do aside from our usual food vlogs, which allows us to connect better with you guys 😃
      Our long term goal has always been to share our food adventures honestly & making our vlogs as intriguing as we can. Even this Mini Series has a lot of effort & thought put behind it.
      We hope this clears up any misconception you might've had & look forward to seeing you again in our future vlogs 😉
