    I remember my friend telling me about this and gave me the brochure of it. I couldn’t believe it was a Casio! I still can’t believe it to this day!
    I’ve always wanted one! It looks incredible! The features seem to be on par with the high end Yamaha PSRs at the time.
    They’ve never released anything like it before and it wasn’t until 2011 that they released the PX-5S and 2016 that they released the MZ-X series.
    The XW Series were also phenomenal keyboards!

      I agree. I still feel that Casio have never got the formula completely right, though. With every Casio I've ever had, I've been left thinking "It's so great, but if it just had..."

    excellent, but better than the classic Casio sounds... I played this MZ keyboard for a while and, Yeah, sounds were Awesome for that time period, I really liked some of the saxophones and synths... some of the drums were decent... Onboard Speakers teally helped this keyboard shine.... Thank You for sharing.... Keep up the good Work my Friend...

    Very nice. Wish I could sit this under my CTK-700 though. I like that little sucker too. I am going to start recording with it soon. Pushing headphone output through a Line 6UX-1. Get stero input into Ableton or Audacity that way. I need to learn more about MIDI with the CTK-700 though. Seems to work quite well. I also kave a Novation LaunchKey61, MidiPlus AK-320 to play with.
    A lot to learn.

    So the MZ like pretty much most high end Casio keyboards of the modern era(post 1990) are Arrangers. Though the MZ2K was touted as a Workstation it is NOT. It is what Casio finally released to the market that was a concept HT/CT combo in 1992 called the HT-X10/20. The CTK-810EX and the now more recent MX500? or MZ-X500? are the more contemporary versions of the MZ2000. I can not confirm AFTERTOUCH in the keybed as being a thing with any of the POST MZ2000 models though..

    I'm pretty sure this keyboard was to compete with Yamaha's PSR-8000, in terms of design.

    • @gearfacts
      @gearfacts  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, similar era. I think the PSR8000 had a sampler though didn't it? Big advantage if it did.

    • @michaelaurelius8507
      @michaelaurelius8507 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@gearfacts I had the Yamaha PSR-8000. Still my favorite PSR after all this time. It did indeed have a sampler which wasn’t present in the PSR-7000 predecessor. What’s weird is that they had the PSR-4000 which was essentially the PSR-7000 with half the polyphony, less effects, no mic input and downgraded speakers for a lower price point.
      They never made a PSR-5000 to offset the cost of the PSR-8000 at $3k retail.
      Instead they came out with a PSR-740 in 1999 which was cheaper but updated in many ways with new features but still very limited compared to the PSR-8000.
      Very interesting times we were in 25 years ago!

    Hey! I stumbled across your channel a couple of months ago, and your video on the CTK-671 has sent me down a ZPI rabbit hole! I know I want a ZPI-era keyboard, but I want one of the models with drawbar organ functionality. This beast is clearly the flagship of the ZPI days, but might be overkill for me, and it's £200-250 here. A CTK-691 would be £40-50, and a CTK-900 would be £60-90... which is weird as it looks like the only difference is a few extra presets on the 900. Then there's the various WK-3x00 models which cost £100+ but are cheaper than the MZ-2000. What would your advice be? Start smaller and upgrade if necessary?

    • @gearfacts
      @gearfacts  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think the WK series is a great place to start. I really like the ctK671 too, if you like things a bit smaller. I have a feeling the much-newer MZ-X models have ZPI too, but Casio is extremely secretive about that for some reason. Check them out anyway :)

    • @gearfacts
      @gearfacts  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I'd say it's just average and I guess it's a fair point that buyer's could expect more at this price point (something like $2K in its time).

    • @sssyntax
      @sssyntax 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It depends on what someone wants from key action.
      It feels like a 1980s synth, which I happen to like a lot.
      Think early electone organ, akai ax60 or roland jx3p kind of action.
      It feels right at home if you use it as a synth or an organ.
      I use mine out busking and I want to be able play as fast as i can as easily as possible, so for me, the light and springy action is a bonus.

      Like all casio keyboards, if you use it as intended, it will always be very underwhelming.
      The mz2000 is no exception.
      The trick with casio keyboards is to find out its strengths and then work out what you can create out of that......and ignore everything else.
      The mz2000 is a power house and when set up correctly it can hold its own in any company.
      I have many mz2000 videos on my channel that can show how the mz2000 can sound once you start getting creative with it.

      I think it was sound recorded from spakers which in this keyboard are amazing, best in compare to others which even not always have amplifier and speakers build in. Direct recording of course would sound more impressive. For higher demand user is forced to work with included synth
