    Rule 1 if it’s on the floor it’s the dogs # 2-Dogs eat poop! Crate made to be cave like give a sense safety. Out side he should have a shady area that can protect from predators. Thought for hikes- a backpack that you could carry him in while he is building endurance- also get boots for him. Keep his pads from tearing. Love Louie snuggled!

    We have had many dogs and one of the best tips we got was to feed our dogs in the crate when they are puppies. And when they are done pick up the food dish but leave the water during the day. They learn that the is their space, and within a week or so they had no problem going into the crate. And eventually they would go in there when they wanted to sleep or just rest. Ps we went to the Grand Canyon yesterday ✌️

  • @mikedr1549
    @mikedr1549 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's so hard to just let them bark and cry and whine when in their crate! You're lucky he's good with staying in the playpen - our latest pup would throw an absolute fit anytime he was captive and not able to be with us. Puppies are hard work but the benefits are worth it a million times over. Good luck!

    Great video!! Just a quick tip for crate training which worked fabulously for us! When he’s not looking, leave his favorite little treats in there for him to find and he will be like hey!! Omg this crate is magical!!!! It really works. Do it several times a day every day and he will love that crate! 😁

    Great pup. The regen is exactly what happened to me on my truck. I happen to stop right in the middle of it. The first time it happened I got a little worried because of the smell you were talking about, I then realized the truck had to be in the regeneration process. Glad it all worked out.

      @IreneIronTravels  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes a bit startling at first when we pulled over! Glad I read about that auto regeneration somewhere or I would have been really concerned. We had NOX sensor problems and the shop performed a regen with our DPF on our sprinter van so I got to learn a bit about it then.

    Good afternoon to you folks! Oh boy….did I ever say Louie is cute? Probably on every video. He is a real cutie pie! I was watching your video while making some mango oatmeal in the kitchen. When Louie was crying, Remy came running from the opposite side of the house. He got on my lap and watched the video with me (yes…80lb lap dogs exist). Great video! Thank you for sharing your Grand Canyon boondocking!
    Our trailer update…..the fiberglass repairs continue to go slow as it is frequently below 60 degrees. Allegedly, it will be ready for pick up on Tuesday at 5pm. We have a Wednesday 9am appt at Holiday RV to get the initial warranty repairs done. Fingers crossed!

    using a neck collar with a puppy which will pull until they are trained has the potential to reduce the airflow and create pulling on the trachea and neck vertebrae. a harness is much safer and comfortable for the dog.

Glad I turned around when I did. The hike back from ~2100 ft down was tough, I don't think could have made it out if I had to do the full 5000.

    I would guess it's best if you don't interrupt the re-gen process. I wish my Interstate Sprinter had an indicator of when it was happening so I don't shut it off in the beginning or middle of the process... I wonder if the OBD2 reader will tell us when it's happening?

    • @IreneIronTravels
      @IreneIronTravels  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it would be nice if it stated it was in the regen mode! Ford supposedly has messages that pop up if the filter needs to be cleaned and will prompt you to drive the approximate speed and distance to start it. That would probably only happen if you only did short city stop and go driving I would think. Our sprinter didnt say anything and the dealer had to do the regen..... Don't think a standard ob2 reader would tell you anything..but one of the nice $2000-$5000 ones the shops have might....

    Two questions. Chris mentions in the video the importance of drinking water. She has talked about this before. Why exactly is it so important to drink 1 gallon of water a day? I am not a big water drinker but drink around 1 gallon total fluids per day, water, coffee, diet pop, iced tea, etc. Seems like the total fluid intake is most important, but what does Chris think? 2nd Question In your 1st year you used Thousand Trails a lot but since then have been mostly boondocking. does it make sense financially to keep the Thousand Trail membership active if you so rarely stay there?
    PS I listened to your RV Entepreneur episode and enjoyed it. I likedlearning about your past before RV Life.

    • @IreneIronTravels
      @IreneIronTravels  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jefferson! Total fluid intake is most important and will keep you properly hydrated. I personally talk about drinking straight water and try to get my clients to focus on straight water as it is the purest form of hydration. And it helps keep other chemicals and/or calories out that may come from using other fluids as a hydration source.
      Our Thousand Trails membership has about a $600 annual fee and we can stay in campgrounds for up to 21 days and go park to park. So it still makes sense for us as we do stay in RV parks around Nov-Dec and also now that we are on the east coast. The $600 pays for it self as long as we spend a week or two in the system and we usually end up doing a combined couple months over the year.
