As a former incarcerated individual who actually rededicated himself to Al Islam after returning to prison on a Parole violation, I would like to encourage your nephew to understand that in order for him to truly come full circle, he cannot abandon deen after having served time. I accepted the words of Allah when He tells mankind that "I have created all the sons of Adam honorable and noble." And upon accepting that wholeheartedly, it lifted all my apprehensions and allowed me to move forward in excellence.
Thank you brother. My nephew views this channel and he will be encouraged, inshallah. My hope is that many young men will also be encouraged. Inshallah. Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.

For being a Convert in Islam and a Young Black African American man who didn't have prison as an influence but through research. After being in the masjid of African, Arabs, Turkish, Albanian, Indian which have their own issues, they mostly places espically here in NYC teach their own in their respective langauges and not in english. However with patience, Allah(swt) grants understanding of his deen and Ahlus Sunnah of the Prophet(saw) thus the beginning stages to grow the foundation will always comes down to the person, however the Ummah is what helps make it easier. We have a lack of masjids and teachers within Neighborhoods that are adiquette for not just praying but also for learning. If you think African American don't go to the masjid then imagine those who were born in Muslim families who come here from Muslim lands only to slowly lose their deen while here in America by not attedning the masjid as much as back in their native lands. Allah(swt) is the one who guides and also misguide and Allah(swt) knows best. Thus for the Black Man today in America to learn about Islam by just simply going to the masjid, he should do his homework first about the masjids around him so he can learn he correct Aqueedah first as well as knowing how to avoid Shirk. Be carefull who you learn your deen from.
So true, brother. As we are growing in Islam we must ask Allah to guide us along the right path and ask for balanced good sense in all of our doings. Just keep praying. And Say: "astaghfirullah" (I seek repentance, O Allah). Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said this 80 times a day. Keep making Salat, don't stop, don't give up (don't beat yourself up when you feel you fall short) because Allah (SWT) knows your heart (He created you, he knows you better than you know yourself), and on the day of judgment he will remember your struggle, your prayers, and your long suffering, so NEVER GIVE UP ("astaghfirullah"). When you make Salat, give it 100% of your focus, as much as you possibly can. Allah (SWT) knows your struggles. Keep reading the Quran, learn the ayahs that really move you in Arabic, and recite them throughout the day. You can recite them silently, in your mind (or aloud), . I do this often. I often recite ayahs silently in Arabic while going to sleep; this also aids memorization (reciting ayahs while going to sleep, and also writing them 10 times each in your spare time aids memorization) and it is good for healing the mind; balancing your emotions. I am sure there will eventually be a break through, and you will be healed. And, along the way, you are going to gain wisdom, strength and endurance, and life's challenges will become easy to deal with and over come. I understand your struggle, I have a brother who struggles with Schizophrenia, and, I have seen great improvement in him over the last 2 years. Subhanallah. I have another channel: ""Hijra To Islam".
