There are few things More evil than treating love like a transaction. At least physically abusive parents make it abundantly clear with their actions and words that the child is not loved. Transactional Love is practically tailor-made to break a kid's self-worth and psyche.
My father punched (not 'hit' or 'spanked', PUNCHED) me frequently as a child. With all his might. Police came to our house multiple times. This year marks ten years I haven't seen him actually, and I'm so glad to have him out of my life.
I still kind of get that anxious feeling when I hear stomping footsteps coming up the stairs, doors slamming, things breaking, etc. But I'm doing better.

@@wyzolol same, my parents are amazing, though I have had my fair share of troubles with them before and after I came out (I live in India) to them as queer. Nevertheless it's heartening to understand by how many degrees I am luckier and more privileged than so many other people.

honestly with the dad asking about his kid at a friend house i completely understood if he was like "hey you havent come home when you usually do where are you" and the kid just responds at a friend house and if his dad just said "oh okay you should have messaged me sooner but just make sure you get home before night (assuming they still live together)
always astonished by how some of these parents, who are presumably fully grown adults, act far more childish than their own children.

They just created a whole scenario in which they were a victim to many things that would never happen. Literally all of that was imagined. What are they even mad about?
I think the first one was a spoof on that one fake story of a bunch of people getting upset about a snow man being made in a yard. They flipped it to there being a conservative angry that some of the snowmen didnt match themself
These "parents" are like the animals in the wild that eat their young if the young don't realize their parents are predators soon enough
my mother once said to me that "you came out of my vagina, i deserve to be treated better than this!" paraphrasing of course, but still.
she literally used the fact that she birthed me to "win" a conversation, as if she thought about aborting me during it. i believe it was about me not liking a gift, which she didn't like.
of course it happened years ago, and i still remember what she said all those years ago. she has never apologized.
and since then, shes been a master manipulator. she quite often manipulates me and my brother (we are both on the autistic spectrum) to anger and rage. usually when that happens i beat myself. my brother on the other hand is often destructive (much like i was when i was his age.) she has manipulated countless individuals, even mental health professionals and law enforcement.
the major difference is she has conservatorship over my brother and not me. we both have a 10 year gap between us.
ive long suspected she does not care about us, only when she had to during raising my brother (she left custody of me to my father, who was a decent guy, but manipulative when drunk. he actually gave a damn when sober. she is never drunk and doesn't care about me or my brother.)
ive thought about putting myself in a group home, just so i can recover, but my only concern is privacy. i am a extremely private guy, i do not like disclosing anything to anyone outside of the internet, as on the internet, you can at least see the manipulation and think accordingly. IRL i cannot do that, my anxiety takes over and i can't think clearly.
parents, if you think manipulating your adult autistic kids is okay, please don't do this. they have greater boundaries than the rest of us and should be treated with respect, dignity and honor.
what do i mean by that? give us the respect and dignity we deserve, and honor our personal boundaries to the letter. we will ask for help for some things, when we do, do not lecture us unless we express the need for such, keep it short and sweet and let us ask questions.

It's sad that, even as our streets get safer, people get more paranoid and restrict their children's freedom more and more.
I'm gonna guess that the guy monitoring his kids whereabouts with the "unusually leisurely 14 minutes" ... has probably been lied to by this very kid (or possibly by an older sibling) in the past. For most parents, not trusting your own children is NOT the default setting; it usually doesn't happen until they've been burnt at least once. I know it didn't happen to me until my own son decided it would be okay for him to say he was going to a friend's house and then go to a party with some college kids in a town an hour away (when he was still in middle school).

My mom put parental controls on my phone that tracks where I went and I hated every second of it. I can't trust anyone with my phone in their hands without me literally reaching down their neck so they won't go through anything else than what I want them to see. Parental controls put a very bad trust issue between me and my mom

Actually, that "full" quote was not the original, there's very little source for it. I do prefer its meaning, but the misinterpretation would be to call that the real full quote.

I'm in my 30s at this point so I at least have the mental fortitude to know it's the alcohol talking, but at the end of the day it doesn't hurt any less when they say the most hurtful, abusive shit to get a rise out of you.
