i learned this joyfully with the ladzekpo family in los angeles. kobla, alfred, agbi etc. the whole family are very fine teachers who have shared so much music with los angeles for many years. G-d bless all of them.
Listen to this w good head phones. I finally did after a few listens w crap ear buds and discovered it actually was recorded well and some of the subtleties of the lead drum various tones actually come thru.
Francis is such a good teacher! Gahu was the first rhythm I learned in December 2004, he is the one who introduced me to Ghana culture, thank you for sharing this!!!
My root, my soul , my spirit. Ewes must've proud of who God made them to be. We must never forget our culture especially our drumming culture...It is tantalizing to the ear and heart..
@FilthyRichPrick1 spelling "G-d" is a way of respect for the name of G-d that i learned as a child. i am not afraid. the omission of the "o" is so the name wont be desecrated, 'erased' or 'deleted'. i don't ask anyone else to do that. but this is how i was raised. respect for G-d and respect for others.
Yes it's normal....I'm not a master at it but sometimes you have to use only one stick to get a particular beat or sound...like i said am not an expect but where am from in Ghana in the Volta region, its the norm....I hope that helps...... I miss it (:
Put your videos in a flood of light - lighting is key in showing the features of the characters in the videos, not silhouettes. This music is similar to music from the Department of African Studies, University of Ghana and it brings memories, so please do it with some professionalism. Good Gahu music though.
Traditionally there is no Atsimevu in Agahu. Can’t have real Agahu music without the real lead drum…Which of course is Agboba. This is some weird combination of Kinka and Agahu. No way I could dance or sing to that.
I am a drumer half dominican half haiti and I can tell you these are my people!!!
Haitian are Ewes so they are ndeed your people !🇬🇭

That long drum is deadly to the heart. It does makes your heart skip around when you are behind it.
I heard Ayiti (Haiti) in these rythms.... So great! 🎼🎼💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Isn’t it. Ghanaian Folk drumming rather Êʋêo as the title shown. Plse no confusion here.

My laptop rattles across the table
how come the asimowu switches between two sticks and one hand/one stick? is this normal? I learned it with one stick only.
mamadykamara master drummers can even switch between 3sticks together with hand. It’s very normal
