    This was exactly what I needed. Now I can still use T-SQL when dealing with data in Snowflake!! Thank you!

    what if my openquery does not show characters that I have in Snowflake? Same querry but it displays some arrows instead of letters? These are some German characters. Collation issue or ODBC driver issue?

    When I test my ODBC Snowflake Configuration, it keeps telling me incorrect username or password was specified. I could use some reassurance on connecting

    Awesome! Very good! thanks.
    I could select data from SF but I have some tables that are not able to be queried, the error message is:
    OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "SFPI" returned message "Requested conversion is not supported.".
    Msg 7341, Level 16, State 2, Line 1
    Cannot get the current row value of column "[MSDASQL].FILENAME" from OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "SFPI".

    Do you know if it is possible to do on Azure SQL Database?

      Thank you! I have not tried this with Azure SQL Database, but if there is an option to add an ODBC Linked Server I would imagine its possible.

    linked server is super slow with snowflake ( and in general) , so be aware when you are using it

    Thanks for the video, I had followed the same steps but didn't work it out, it is given me a proxy error. The same way I have done for DBeaver using its driver, it works like a charm, till now what would be the reason that its not been successful using odbc 64. Its quite essential as there is no build in visualization for spatial query output which I need to visualize it in QGIS. The other options for the visualuzation are pretty limited. Looking forward for any sort of pointers.

      Hi Vinitha - I have not worked much w/ MS Access but if there is an ODBC connector available then you should be able to make it work.

    Can we do the same from Snowflake? Like referencing data from Snowflake WebUI for the SQL Server DBs?

      Make sure the user you connect with also has permissions on the objects you are trying to view.

      @@prakharsaxena9189 I suggest asking your DB administrator for help. The answer to that will be very specific to your environment setup.

    I have tables in Snowflake that have anywhere from 2 million to 20 million rows. The 2.8 million took 58 minutes in a select statement on sql server 2008 R2. Is there anyway to get much better performance? Although I'm pushing to update sql server, would updating sql server help at all?

    • @KahanDataSolutions
      @KahanDataSolutions  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Kim, for that amount of rows I don't think an update of SQL Server would drastically change it but it's hard to say for sure without knowing the full context. Typically performance issues would be related to how the query is written. There may be ways to optimize it for performance.
