Thank you! I'm glad you do!🙏 I make 2, maybe 3 videos/year, so I don't expect any kind of "high ratings"...but I'm always happy when some of you watching enjoy them!😊
Wow ! The drama. I don't know how practicable it would be to add some internal buoyancy. I'm sure you'll get Ludovika back on the water though. Thankfully, other than Captain Smith there were no other casualties. 😀👍
What a neat, paddle steamer Ludovika is.... Sunk by a a low porthole.... should be easy to remedy... Is Ludovika in the same scale as the "Thomas Powell ? She is surely a high quality " toy boat "
Perhaps an extra nautical air vent or two at the front, and improve on sealing the gapes across the deck (but still be able to separate the deck from the ship for easier maintenance), so that water can't fill in the hull while having an dedicated air intake for the gas-burner.
Thanks for the suggestions! Portholes were blocked, Burner was replaced with a smaller one, which gets enough air through the companionway-entry door! 😊
It did. Check this seller, he usually has a few steamboat toys: www.ebay.com/sch/lynne5058/m.html?item=225834166552&rt=nc&_trksid=p4429486.m3561.l161211
Been a fan of live steam for awhile now with two tractors and two locomotives of my own. Out of curiosity, how did the boiler fair when she went down? I know we dont make enough pressure for a pop, but im curious about how the solder seams held up with the thermal shock.
Boat and seams did fine! Hardly any pressure and only 240°F/115C in this tiny boiler, so not an issue! Same with larger boilers running at 60 PSI (If properly soldered!). A full size steam Launch Boiler would probably have a few problems...
Does the models boiler have any safety features in place to keep it from popping due to the water hitting it? Or is the boilers pressure not high enough for it to be a real issue
Not an issue! A wobbler won't allow boiler pressure to raise much higher than 25PSI - 240°F (1,7Bar -115°C). At that point, the cylinder will start lifting off the portface, as seen in the video @3:18... But even if it could go up to 50PSI, boiler would still be fine with cold water "hitting" it. Thanks for watching!
It's weird why everyone thinks boilers explode when they hit the water. There are only a handfull of steamships that had boiler explosions during a sinking. They are vastly outnumbered by steamships that sank without a boiler explosions, and that includes some fast sinking ships with very hot boilers. It did happen very occasionally, but generally in the earlier times in the early 19th century when steel wasn't as good of a quality as it was later.

Weight of this boat was a concern from the get-go (see part one).😞 A smaller engine was not on the table, as it then would've needed some kind of reduction gear to spin these wheels!...
Holy crap youre underrated! This is super cool!
Thank you !
I'm sure Ludovika will soon be rated higher than the Titanic ! 😂😂

Scale is 1/42 , vs T. Powell 1/32
