This was an awesome video to come home to! Just spent the weekend at a girl guide and boy scout camp providing support for a camper with ASD, and she rocked it! Her group came in third out of all twenty troups participating! Happy birthday Maverick! And best wishes in your future projects! ❤

I accept everyone's reality' I agree it a little long but I'm sure some wordsmith can arrange the same sentiment into a t-shirt logo? (I'm going to concentrate and do this myself) I'm an autism mum, my son is 26 so I've never had and neither has he so much acceptance. I love the awareness now, but still hurt for my boy's childhood as per school, etc. My boy is so (insert expletive or my choice superlative) awesome I can't even tell you.
I can answer your blacktop question lol....My Dad owns an asphalt maintenance company and cost difference between asphalt(aka Blacktop) versus concrete is HUGE!! Bottom line, they were not thinking about the animals....they were thinking about the bottom dollar!! On another note, due to the severity of burns caused to dogs paws from hot parking lots in Florida(and other areas I am sure) they make protective puppy boots....initially they were designed for service dogs who were out and about all the time but you can by them at PetSmart now for pups who are on the go!
Ardysangel yes but unfortunately most people don’t even think about the black asphalt effect on dogs’ paw pads so they wouldn’t think to protect their dog’s feet. I’m in Florida too and I wish more people did. How could they do that at a veterinarian office of all places just to save some money!

And you are right, most don’t realize the damage it can do or that there are protective options available ...and that’s exactly why I shared! We are on the waiting list for the waiver in Maryland. And we can’t get disability for Luke until he’s 18. But our county is very good with community awareness so they just posted an article that they are starting talks in an autism community for children and adults. I’m going to try and get involved I’d love to stay where I’m at and create a autism community on my street. We are walkable to lots of restaurants and a grocery store. Plus an awesome high school too. I’m hoping by the time Luke is an adult they will get it together. He’s nine and right now getting ready for our next iep meeting for next school year. New school new program....same old same old iep drama. I’ve gotten used to it Good days bad days just real life. I’m so glad I found your channel. Seeing Abby and her wonderful family brightens my day. Keep making us smile. We will keep watching and I’m getting ready to buy more shirts from you guys. Thanks, Amy nash.

My daughter was lucky enough to get the Medicaid waiver. Here in Virginia, there's only a very few. It was between my daughter and 5 other disabled adults. My daughter got it. If you don't get a waiver, the family has to pay out of pocket for day support. Its like $700 a week!! Its ridiculous. Great video!!
That’s one thing I have to be so careful of in Australia. The pavement gets so hot and newer places have white concrete to make it cooler but most public places we go to (she’s an assistance dog) like shopping centres and their parking lots all have the blacktop stuff and it’s sooo ridiculously hot, we have boots for really hot days in summer but if I forget to bring them or I’m out all day and don’t have them I have to carry my 35kg dog over the concrete and paths till we get inside! Not the best when I have chronic pain and easily dislocate stuff 😬
Try having black top in Arizona in the summer. 120 degrees. Yup we have it every. Where. They are just now starting to not lay it on freeways and new roads though. It keeps us even hotter then the blazing hot devils vacation spot 😂
In New Mexico our wavier is called DD. My daughter got on the list in 2008. She is still on the waiting list. It could still be another 2 years or more until she gets off the waiting list and starts getting money. WE live in this state for 3 years before we found out about the DD wavier.
Please consider getting Maverick his own seatbelt in the car. Animals in car accidents become heavy projectiles and can hurt other family in the car. It's not somethi g people think of, it's not something people Want to think of but it is something to consider. I work in the veterinary field and have seen the worst of pets in car accidents. There are many brands out there just make sure to find one that Has been crash tested. Thank you.
They make really simple, cheap ones for big dogs now, where it's just a regular harness and short tether that snaps into the regular car seat belt. I also have one for my little dog that is a console box.
