President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. joins the nation in observing National Heroes Day this year as he leads a commemorative program at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig City on August 28, 2023.
Spearheaded by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), the National Heroes Day celebration focuses on the theme, ‘Karangalan. Katungkulan. Kabayanihan.’ A series of activities is in full swing to commemorate this solemn occasion including lectures, exhibits, museum tours and wreath-laying rites, among others.
Today’s commemoration is pursuant to Administrative Code of 1987 as amended by Republic Act (RA) No. 9492 designating the last Monday of August as National Heroes Day. It gives the Filipino people an opportunity to recognize the sacrifices of all Filipino heroes, as well as honor the bravery they exemplified for the country.
