    I’m getting a Mini 2014 to use as a media server very soon, and I’ve been watching a lot of these “SSD upgrade” videos. Without a single doubt this is the best of them all. The pacing, the explanation and the especially the zooms make this video way more helpful than the others.
    I’m also glad to be a OWC customer. Have bought ref MBP from you guys twice, both time happy. Keep up the good work!

    Thanks for this, I’ll be getting my kit in a few days and doing this fairly soon. My current drive is on its last legs. My 2014 Mini is already a Linux machine which helps a lot, but it’s still problematic.

    I thought my T6 and T8 would work, but I needed to get 'security' versions.

    I like your upgrade videos. These older Macs have a lot of good use left in them. These videos help to get that use out of these machines. Thank you OWC.

      You are very welcome, and we very much agree, that is why we offer those upgrades. Anytime you have a upgrade that needs to be done, we are here and ready to help and serve.

    May I connect 8TB SSD HDD?

    Thanks, the video I was looking for, by far the best, one question, my Mac mini 2014 Model A1347 has a FusionDrive 1T, I would like to replace the HD with an SDD for data and files, and add an OWC 1.0TB Aura Pro X2 NVMe Flash SSD for OS, is this possible?

      Yes, that is 100% possible! As long as the Operating System is 10.13 or newer. The Aura Pro X2 is only supported on those

    It looks like replacing parts on my iPhone is easier than swapping out a drive on a Mini. I'll set aside an afternoon to do this and I'll try not to rush it. If this job took you 30 minutes, it will probably take me two hours.

    Does the power supply really need to be removed? Last time I did this; the retaining clip, later worked loose and screwed the logic board: entirely!

      While you can choose to keep it in, we recommend it only as another precautionary measure to help along the way.

    I think l just the have the 512gb flash drive can l replace that with a m.2 using the same controller as the flash drive

    • @poweredbyowc
      @poweredbyowc  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Regrettably, the M.2 drive has a different type of connection than the blade-style SSDs that would go inside the Mac Mini. You would not be able to use that with the same controller.

      @@poweredbyowc Thanks l bought the Aura flash drive and it runs great. Is it possible to get a controller that works with a m.2? I’ve seen kits on Amazon

      Hey Kevin,
      We're glad to hear that the flash drive has worked out great for you. Regrettably, we don't offer those controllers.

    It’s so clear that Apple doesn’t want the average person to upgrade their drives. It’s ridiculous that this much has to go into replacing a drive.
