@@ForceMaximus84 I have to disagree with you friend...some Christians are but way too many arent showing the kindness, the gentleness, and the putting others before yourself qualities that Jesus says to. But I have met Christians who are and oh they have such wonderful hearts for others!
Elizabeth was, as far as I know, a very committed Christian. She prayed every night before going to bed. As depicted in The Crown where she is discussing with Philip about how forgiveness was important to her and her desire to “rehabilitate “ the Duke of Windsor, her Uncle David. Of course Philip heard her out and then replied “ are you mad”? Whilst the Duke was not rehabilitated, Philip himself eventually “found faith”.
I'll admit, I have not watched this series (The Crown), but this video came into my TH-cam feed anyway. I find it a very timely reminder, especially considering Prince William's recent admission that he feels no affinity to the Anglican church. Unfortunately, Christianity has become too polarized politically in recent decades, and it has not had a positive effect on society or the faith. I have to wonder, has anyone ever bothered to sincerely and honestly share the Gospel with Prince William? Besides his late grandmother, is there anyone in his life that modeled a Christian life, or ministered to William and his family in a way that they would want to know Jesus themselves? Sadly, I doubt it. I hope and pray that Prince William and the people of England rediscover the anchor of Hope that is the Gospel.
I feel that a piece was missing in the way the Queen's children were raised, which would of course impact the way her grandchildren were raised, as well. Why have they (particularly her children - not so much her grandchildren) lived lives that so contradict her own personal conduct and religious values?
I knew the Queen was with Jesus in heaven when I saw pictures of the rainbow that appeared over the palace that day. Alongside her Christian faith, I think that was God’s way of saying both, I’m real! and “she’s with Me!”
The details here. Queen Elizabeth usually has her head up high with other officials and hands on lap. Here with Graham, it's more bowed down and shifted to the side with her hands clasped. She's also showing more emotions here than she does with even her own family members. It's like she's crushing on him but at the same time, respects the fact that he is a man of God.

Paul Sparks does a really effective job portraying Graham and the scenes between him and Claire Foy are filled with deeply nuanced acting from both... but I still can't unsee him as Mickey Doyle from Boardwalk Empire. I won't lie, part of me really wanted him to do that stupid Mickey laugh during the sermon.
Great episode, great scene and great dialogue, as it magnificently portrays one of the many personal debacles the young queen (played by Claire Foy) is faced with. I am still inspired by the following, softly delivered words of reverend Billy Graham (played by Paul Sparks): "...one asks for forgiveness oneself, humbly and sincerely, and one prays for those that one cannot forgive." Such a biblical-based quote helps in taking away a part of the resentfulness one feels when facing a situation where one is not able to forgive.
Two leaders delighting in their joy in serving Christ and people cannot tolerate that in their comments. How bitter must be their final hours in a lifetime of worshipping only self.
"Each day is a new beginning, I know that the only way to live my life is to try to do what is right, to take the long view, to give of my best in all that the day brings, and to put my trust in God.” -Queen Elizabeth
This sounds blasphemous to me. It's why I've never understood the concept of God "picking" a leader to lead His people, and how this is considered acceptable in any Christian denomination. He is the ONLY sovereign - not a mere human being. Many of these people have had horrible morals.
Dr graham was the only male ( besides prince Philip) allowed to be alone with the Queen when he had his visits with her. Their friendship seems to be built on their mutual love and service to Christ. So there was nothing questionable about their private meetings. If only more women and men could have such friendships. Respect, admiration, and fidelity to the higher Authority is what many haveca hard time grasping and holding to when in their younger years.
This is false. Prime Ministers and world leaders were alone with her. British prime ministers in particular had confidential meetings with her on a very regular basis.
@@leoperidot482 HA! Can someone tell him that? The man doesn't even go to church, nor does he know how to so much as cite a scripture correctly. "You can do anything...grab her by the pu**y". It warms my heart knowing an American helped lift the weight of the world off her shoulders. She said it here, “Above me there is only God.” I can’t imagine the pressure she felt she had to uphold and it was nice for that pressure to disappear for a little, if only for a day.
Billy Graham: What is a christian? The Bible tells us Colossians 1:27 says that a christian is a person in whom Christ dwells. It's Christ in you, the hope of glory. It means that you have a personal relationship with Lord Jesus Christ. That encounter has taken place, you have received Christ as Savior and that is what a Christian is.
I'm honestly very surpised this scene made it into the Crown. A lot of modern maintream movies and TV either censor Christianity from the role it has played in the lives of historical figures or try to frame it in a negative light. Thank God for whoever had the idea to film this scene!

I found the portrayal of her Christianity to be quite profound, esp when viewed from the perspective that we are "a Royal Priesthood" - Also later when Prince Philip had his encounter with the church leaders and formed the support group
I think like any other Christian mother her prayers was that her children and grandchildren would have their own personal relationship with Jesus Christ, as Reverend Billy Graham so often spoke about.
The world was a better place when the Queen was here. She loved the LORD and took her vows before him seriously. Charles on the other hand does not believe and look what's happening to the UK.
I like the Queen Mother's expression at :30 - She seems to be thinking "I should have had a double G and T before chapel today with the look on this one's face".
What you display when helping others is not religion, it is the virtue of charity. When you render unto God the praise, worship and service that He is due, by assisting at Holy Mass and through prayer, that is the virtue of religion.

And that goes for all people regardless of sexual orientation too. It's the contents of one's heart that matters most.
It's about following the Bible, not being "openminded." God and Jesus tell us very clearly what is right and wrong and what is involved with being a Christian. It's not up to us. And the Bible is also very clear about sexual sins too, which you seem to think are okay.
No it's good that few Christian preachers are whatever kind of fake, non-Christian, nebulous frauds you're imagining they should be. It's good that they pay no attention to what people like you think they should be.
@timheavrin2253 I attend many different churches from quite a few faiths. I can assure you from my experience most pastors are very good Christian men. There is immense pressure from secular atheists to change core biblical principles to accept homosexuality and child murder. I think it will always be difficult to convince most churches otherwise when the Bible is so clear on these issues. That being said all sinners are welcome in most churches.
The Bible says that the heart is deceitful and yes, that matters. That is why we need the Lord to create in us a new heart, one that is in alignment with His ways.
What a tragically superficial response from the queen, and Graham didn't push the truth with her; as it was, he created havoc in England with his superficially false conversions.

The lack of self awareness is astonishing but hardly surprising, thinking of one’s self as a “simple Christian” and yet living in an actual Palace is quite the set of competing realities. Christ’s “Kingdom” was spiritual, not material.

When kids are taught that Christianity is just a set of values then obviously they will grow up thinking why not create my own set of values with a little bit of biblical ones? Paul Sparks has such a great voice to start with. He did very well in this role
What a lovely accent he had.
The actor portraying Billy Graham did a good job.
This was really interesting this episode. Made The Queen human and we see Elizabeth again. Won't forget her speech during the covid lockdowns "We will meet again". And not knowing at the time, she had bone cancer, standing on the balcony for the last time. She must have been in agony. Yet she stood there for the last time. That's courage.
Is that what she succumbed to, bone cancer? I heard something along the lines of cancer but never specifics. Poor thing. Losing Phillip broke her completely but I believe she held on to celebrate one last monumental historic achievement and then went willingly to her rest. My heart is with Charles and Kate now as they both battle cancer, and with their loved ones.
@@DarlingNikki2 yes it was only after her passing that released. Google it, it should come up. Poor thing. I know I wouldn't want to be trotted out in agony like that. Admire her legacy. Death and announcement. The Queen died at 15:10 BST on 8 September 2022 at the age of 96. According to her death certificate, which was made public on 29 September, she died of old age.
Official records say the longest-reigning monarch in British history died from old age at 96, but Gyles Brandreth, writing in Elizabeth: An Intimate Portrait, said she had a form of bone marrow cancer called multiple myeloma in the last period of her life.
Not proven just claimed
She probably should have spoken out against the fascist lockdowns
What??? I never heard the Queen had bone cancer😱

Amen.
I knew the Queen was with Jesus in heaven when I saw pictures of the rainbow that appeared over the palace that day. Alongside her Christian faith, I think that was God’s way of saying both, I’m real! and “she’s with Me!”
The values of Christian living ruled me, guide me and define me

Hmmm

The details here. Queen Elizabeth usually has her head up high with other officials and hands on lap. Here with Graham, it's more bowed down and shifted to the side with her hands clasped. She's also showing more emotions here than she does with even her own family members. It's like she's crushing on him but at the same time, respects the fact that he is a man of God.

Never watched a single episode, and now I want to watch the whole series!
What debacle?

"Each day is a new beginning, I know that the only way to live my life is to try to do what is right, to take the long view, to give of my best in all that the day brings, and to put my trust in God.” -Queen Elizabeth
She was sovereign to so many, but God was hers.

Billy Graham: What is a christian? The Bible tells us Colossians 1:27 says that a christian is a person in whom Christ dwells. It's Christ in you, the hope of glory. Billy Graham was quite the legend here in the US and around the world! He did God's work for a lifetime, and was rewarded with a long life to do so!
Simple Christian here … and the child of a mighty God and Father.
This is historically inaccurate, Billy Graham had a rule that he would never be alone in a room with a woman who was not his wife or relative
I found the portrayal of her Christianity to be quite profound, esp when viewed from the perspective that we are "a Royal Priesthood" - Also later when Prince Philip had his encounter with the church leaders and formed the support group
Powerful use of silence
I think like any other Christian mother her prayers was that her children and grandchildren would have their own personal relationship with Jesus Christ, as Reverend Billy Graham so often spoke about.
A moving portrayal by all involved.

I wish Christian films or faith based films would do far better on prosthetics and make up. Like actually make the character look like Billy Graham.

What you display when helping others is not religion, it is the virtue of charity. When you render unto God the praise, worship and service that He is due, by assisting at Holy Mass and through prayer, that is the virtue of religion.

Too bad not all Christian preachers are as openminded as to what is a Christian. Come to think of it respectful of all faiths regardless of who they are, Christian and non Christian alike.

Thank you! See I'm not the only one who thinks Billy Graham and his family are charlatans and swindlers.
Poor Elizabeth, fooled by this charlatan. He gets into a Mercedes and is driven away, never worrying about the less fortunate. Back to his mansion and an entire university named after him, which increased his wealth dramatically. But the poor never did benefit. He kept all that money for his own glorification.
Billy Graham did not have a university named after him. He actually lived rather simply. Now his son Franklin is a bit different from his Father.
Billy Graham never took a dime from his ministry or ministry activities. He supported his own self with the proceeds of his dairy farm and writings. He never boasted about it so the avaricious and foolish fill in the blanks with their own projections of what they would do with the power and influence he attained. Every penny raised by Billy Graham went to his causes, which went way beyond evangelistic campaigns.
Billy Graham’s salary was set by a board of directors, none of whom were relatives of his. The Board of Directors set Billy Graham’s salary at a strictly middle-class level.
Dude I'm not even an evangelical, but I've attended one of his revivals and he was eminently sincere, specifically talked about the importance of ending racism and each night ended with a collection of food that went to all the local food banks regardless of which denomination operated them. I'm not an altar call type Christian, I'm actually suspicious of histrionic faith, and a lot of evangelical Christianity turns me off -- but I have to say he did seem to be sincere in his faith and I found many of the people who attended the revival to be very welcoming and kind -- and not one of them asked me for money.
Those cars were not Mercedes, and they belonged to Buckingham place. Graham was being transport as a curtesy to a guest of the Queen.
