Like in this series for instance, we see how Mai in the first ep had confessed to Tim which was eventually turned down, but he still stayed closed to Tim being just friends But as we go on to the following eps we see how Mai became the third wheel whereas Tim started chasing after Kim which just hurt Mai even more ..
