Not having a divorce law in the country is so not realistic. I mean how can the entire world be wrong about divorce and PH be the only one right about it? What’s wrong with giving married people the chance to get divorced if the marriage has failed. Everybody deserves a second chance. As it is, only the rich prople can have marriage annulment which is quite expensive for ordinary working citizens.
Thank you for this very informative video po attorney. How about sa case po na both are of foreign citizenship when they got the divorce but married po sila sa Philippines when they were still Filipino citizens?
When both are foreign citizens at the time of the divorce, their national law would be that of the foreign country. In that case, the validity and effect of the divorce obtained in that foreign country will be determined the laws of that country. That is recognized by our law.
I don't advocate for divorce and I understand the importance of marriage to the family structure. I also don't believe marriage is beneficial when physical or mental abuse is involved. This isn't the type of environment anyone should be trapped in and certainly not in the best interests for children to be exposed to.

Good morning atty... Nagpakasal sa pilipinas... Nag migrate pareho sa US, now are both FIL Am citizen and decided to have a divorce sa US. I understand na here in the Philippines kasal pa rin ang status... Ano ang steps Para Mapa walang visa ang kasal sa pilipinas? May narinig ako need daw dalhin sa Manila civil Registry ang divorce papers... Pero I went there and sinabing hindi na daw ganun ang proseso... So I went to our city to do the first step pero Sabi naman nila sa Manila daw ang dapat pag dalhan muna... Nakakalito na pinagpapasahan ako so ano ba talaga ang unang habang Para maunpisahan na

I have a question about a situation, where both are Filipino citizens at the time of marriage. However, at the time of divorce which was performed in the USA, one had become a citizen of the USA, and the other was still a Filipino citizen(also USA Permanant Resident). What would be the status of the marriage in the Philippines.
