I was inside on turn 4 with the photographers until I got booted back. What an experience, I still have all the photos I took from this day and shared them with my boys today some 24 years later. Awesome to be there, what a great memory. I had no idea this was available to watch here on youtube.
not more safety. you can get hurt on mile tracks. the two tracks you mentioned are fine for indycars, it's the 1.5 miles i don't like, the banked tracks
@@noahparsons7688 It was a bad wreck, but that could have happened at Indy. It could have happened at any oval really. The track isn't to blame, overly-aggressive drivers are.
@@noahparsons7688 The way to get Indycars to be competitive on 1.5 mile ovals is to make them race so closely that..Well, those old IRL races were kinda scary.
Tony Stewart first ballot IndyCar HOF? Tony Stewart was MY GUY regardless of what he raced in, I mean heck, he could compete pro cycling and win the championship... #ThanksTony1420 #SmokeHasRisen
@Quintinohthree i agree, i dont think 25 would work either, that was an eggsaduration. yes i also know i spelled that wrong. but still, laguna seca and road america? needs to be added back to the schedule
it was on June 29, 1997 this Final Race of the Copa America between Brazil and Bolivia that IRL Race that had 9 accidents is the Pole Scott Sharp Hit the Start and Tony Stewart was the Winner .. and I saw on TV Bandeirantes do Brasil this Race

Man I think I went to that race as a kid. It was my first IRL race. I went to several more at PPIR before it closed. I miss IRL at PPIR.
Great upload. Thanks Indycar.
A young Indy car Tony Stewart 😍
Stephan Gregoire ran a great race. Wow. Love the paint scheme on the Car too.
More more more!! Thank you indycar!
Disclaimer: This is the 1997 Samsonite 200...
The beggining of Smoke and Team Menard
Strange hear that big block in the Indy cars.
"21 year old midget driver"
That's nice, mock his size. :)
i know its late, but lol at Tom giving Paul a hard time for saying that
Instead of Pocono or Autoclub, Indycar should use small ovals like this. Good races and more safety.

jim guthry broke his spine during practice for this race...just sayin.

1st race for the homemade Race Control.
Oh, No wonder 10 years later, Tony slam dunked Goodyear, postrace Atlanta...

Foyt owned the would-be winning car, Arie protested in Victory Lane and AJ didn't much appreciate that!
Intro at 0:58
AJ Foyt at 0:40 YES!
lol, this is the reason why Indy car fell apart
@Quintinohthree i agree, i dont think 25 would work either, that was an eggsaduration. yes i also know i spelled that wrong. but still, laguna seca and road america? needs to be added back to the schedule
@crazyful123
Laguna Seca for Infineon, yes please! Road America, doubt it will happen too but sure am hoping.
can indycar do more than 17 or so races a year? id love like 25 or so
That is a wide flat track.
The raceway is open once again...unfortunately no pro motorsports yet...Colorado seems to be a big black hole for professional motorsports.
@TheCarlsonsRaiders because he's better at winning NASCAR championships. congrats Tony!

A bit too much. 21 when the economy gets better maybe but 25 is far too many.
why did Foyt punch Arie?
I believe his car was supposed to win in his opinion, Arie had some comments on the poorly called race so AJ slapped him 👋🏼
Because he wanted cars able to finish races? ;)
Tony, why didn't you stick to Indycars!
