    I mean damn.
I’m a believer in judging a situation and reacting accordingly.
That couple was just trying to be nice. Their dog wasn’t aggressive. It was being friendly. My daughter has cancer and we are around a hospital slap full of service dogs on a regular basis....and some DO come up, tail wagging. Not all. Some.
U could have just said hello. Don’t always be so ready for an argument. Everyone has a struggle. U have yours, those elderly people have theirs. They may totally feel their dog is a service dog....and don’t realize it needs better training. U could have taken a minute to help. Offer advice.
Just remember u get back what u put out into the universe.
    Have a great week. ❤️

I don't like to argue but I hope you know that that isn't considered a service dog. It was probably an ESA or Therapy dog which are completely different than a service dog. Service dogs are only to helping their handler and focusing on their handler's health. The reason Lexie was so annoyed and cautious about it is that she deals with aggressive fake sds and when a dog is lunging the same way aggressive dogs do shes going to think that the dogs aggressive. Lexie is very experienced with SDs so the way she handled that was actually correct! As I said, she deals with this stuff a lot and did what she thought was right. If you didn't like that than thats okay! I just wanted to inform you so you knew. I am also very sorry about your daughter having cancer, I hope she is well. Thank you for reading this, I hope I wasn't rude.

    • @Mtkrvi06
      @Mtkrvi06 5 ปีที่แล้ว +20

KoffeeBeann I wasn’t attacking her. I just thought she could have handled this a lot better. Ur not being rude. We all have an opinion and it’s good to express it and have discourse. I do know the difference in an emotional support animal and a service dog. We currently have two GSD. One is emotional support, one is service. We encounter dogs which aren’t service dogs all the time. We are always cautious but we just choose to handle an encounter based on the situation. If there’s a little old couple who’s emotional support dog wanders over to us wagging its tail? I’m going to say hello. If it’s badly behaved, I will share our trainers number and wish them well. It won’t ruin our day, our animals would still be safe, our trainer might gain a new client and the elderly couple may find help for their dogs behavior. See how many people would win if u handle it differently? Choose ur battles. This wasn’t one. If we encounter a dog who is aggressive, we go in the opposite direction. If I even feel for a second that a dog will be out of their handlers control, we don’t seek to interact. We don’t record or draw attention to ourselves...we just change direction. If we HAVE to pass a questionable animal, we do so confidently and quickly without pausing in the other dogs space. The world is a big place that we share and it takes way too much energy to try and police everyone around us. Just handle your space, your animal, your bubble and when the time comes that we have to share it, do so with grace and kindness. It comes back to us. Promise. Y’all have a great week!

@@Mtkrvi06 I just want to make it clear that also, Lexie's form of PTSD makes her kind of edgy and basically everything triggers her. My mom and CPTSD and you have to be really careful around her or you might trigger her. Something like a fake service dog, friendly or not, would make her so angry. Everyone has there ways of handling service dogs. The best way is to avoid any interaction. I just wanted to let you know that she can't really control it because she does what she thinks she has to in that moment. No time to think.

She may not mean to say it but she is in a state of mind where she just says it without meaning to. My friend has the same problem and I understand how it works. She isn't using her disability as an excuse. She actually legitimately cannot control it sometimes. But when you started your opinion the way you did, it came off as rude and disrespectful. You could have at least worded it differently and not have been so rude. To me it comes off as you hating on her. And I'm not trying to be rude or disrespectful either.

Volunteer at a shelter, THAT will really show you some poorly behaved dogs...
Not their fault, but that's been where I found my top 10 in that catagory....
I work with "unadoptable" dogs to train them to be pets (even have one that is an SD for a local gal)....
This dog did need some manners on how to behave in a non pet area...
But they did keep decent control, he just needs more socialization and taught the manners and rules a service dog must follow.
I'm very lax with the pets I train(compared to my SD), I don't hold them to the same standard I do my SD...
Just like I expect better of my older SD than I do my sdit.
In stores I limit situations me and my sdit are in, like tight squeezes if I can help it since we r still learning how to walk with each other...
Or even avoiding people I know have been too touchy with my SD in the past or stuff like that...
My current SD can handle it all, tho he has a weakness for begging me to let kids pet him when he KNOWS they r asking....
Just... there is a scale of how trained a dog is, and this one is pretty decent even if he's not ready for non pet places...
I made sure my sdit had leave it and with me commands down pat before even hitting pet stores.
Good thing too since we had to dodge an ill behaved dog who's owner couldn't keep hold of the leash right.
She sat and stayed behind me as I got ready to pin the dog if he got away from his human ^-^"
Wasn't as quiet as I'd wanted, but it got the petco employee to come back and escort the lady and her dog out.
Petstores... soooo much FUN right? XD

No offense or anything, but you can't really just assume every "service" dog that you see is fake. I get that there are people who fake having a service dog, but just because it might be "aggressive" you just can't assume. If a "service dog" is aggressive it might not be trained or is just fake. There are other possibilities other than it being fake. Don't get me wrong I love your channel, but just please don't assume every time you see a dog with a service dog vest that its fake. Thank you. :)
Edit: Honestly I agree with the woman. You weren't really being nice to them. And i also agree with "Brendon! The Android Sent By Cyberlife!" just because you have a disability, doesn't mean you can be rude to others with service dogs you think are fake. All service dogs are trained differently and behave differently due to their personalities and training. And that argument was not a heated argument. The way you handled the situation was immature. You acted very immature when she said you aren't a very nice person by acting as if it was a joke, same with her dog dying.

As far as the fake SD issue, its great to educate the public bc real working teams can get hurt. EDUCATING is part of sd handlers job. Yes, she could have been nicer but I think that's just Lex's personality. 🤷🏼‍♀️🥰
Anyway I love you family Lexie. @leotheservicedoggo is my insta for anyone who wants to follow
EDIT: also that fake sd was WAY to close to the team she did the right thing by asking that couple to back away. SD are our lifelines, we have to make sure that they stay safe.

Some people in the comments state that the other dog which may or may not have been a service dog in training received a “leash correction” which I believe is incorrect. You can see the man grabbing the leash and physically pulling the dog away and to the side. I’m no expert in dog training but through training the bully type dogs that I have trained, pulling on the leash only makes them pull harder, and therefore makes them want to pull against your original pulling sensation, whether or not they are wearing a collar or a leash. When I give my own A.B. A correction it’s often with a firm tone combined with “no” and using the leash to slightly tug on her collar, which is placed right behind her head for more control. I just simply don’t believe it was a proper correction on the man’s part, and yes he is elderly but I feel it wasn’t a proper correction.

I’m really proud of you both, Lexie and Nolan! Lexie, thank you so so much for guiding Nolan but still letting him find his way and gain experience himself and not just taking the dog and training it for him. Nolan, you’re doing FANTASTIC! Thank you for allowing Lexie to guide you through training a service dog and be opening to learning how to take on the training yourself. It’s a big change and not an easy one but being able to accept or ask for help is a HUGE thing. Also thank you both for sharing this journey with us. It’s not easy putting yourself out there for public view and criticism. You two are quite cute by the way. 😊

Ok I used to really enjoy watching this channel but now it’s just so disrespectful. I understand she feels threatened by their dog but it’s literally just an elderly couple who have a dog that’s also in training ( not to mention her old service dog died. tbh simply talking to them the way you did was extremely rude. You could tell just by the looks on their faces that they were truly sorry and probably embarrassed. You could have acted respectfully and recommend them to have a trainer that helps or simply telling them to have their dog trained before going out in public. Not “That’s Not How Service Dogs act” or “He’s In My Dogs Face” they even apologized and also listened to you and moved the dog away from you guys. Sometimes the things you say are unnecessary and will just make the situation escalate. And one more thing this is in no way shape of form a heated argument

I don't know if it's just me, but I don't hear anything wrong with Lexie's tone. She is telling the older couple to not let their dog get that close to her's since it was distracting him and it doesn't seem like the woman was listening, the man pulled the dog away and tried to keep him from going closer again though so I guess that was good...
They actually stopped and their dog was pulling on the leash trying to get closer to I think it was Max. I'm sorry, but even pets shouldn't be pulling on the leash.
I'm not saying the way Lexie handles some of these situations are good, but this is definitely not a bad way for her to have handled the situation.
(If you try to yell at me for this comment don't expect me to respond because I'm not going to waste my energy on people who aren't calm enough to actually talk about this and listen to what I'm trying to say. I am, also, in no way trying to suggest I know how all service dogs are supposed to act, but in my opinion not even my 3lb 5" tall dog should be pulling on the leash because that's not how I think a well behaved dog should act.)

After the first three minutes I couldn’t take it. Besides points MANY others have made here, you started up about the dog “getting away” as if you owned the entire area, then escalated it to the dog being “in my dog’s face” while still at a safe distance!! And did you ever think that it was YOUR nasty tone and attitude that spooked the other dog in the first place...?
Other news...based on state laws, SERVICE DOGS IN TRAINING MAY HAVE EQUAL PUBLIC ACCESS RIGHTS, depending on the state. EQUAL. As in, you don’t get to yell at elderly people because you own that corner of the mall because “you were there first.” As well, even with full on SDs, under the ADA, an SD “has to be under the control of their owner.” That other dog WAS under control, until YOU became aggressive! And even then, the dog had a small hop, and was NEVER OUT OF THE OWNER/HANDLER’S CONTROL.

BUT if your anxiety and depression does not limit your essential activities such as eating, drinking, etc. Then you are not allowed a service dog, at that point it would be illegal cause you arent actually disabled. But if you are then I say take this advice and talk to a lawyer

zerocharisma15 I mean I do the same exact this to my boyfriend. We play fight and beat each other’s ass wrestling all the time, just like they were doing. And we’ve been together for almost 3 years. Okay fighting with your best friend/ boyfriend is completely normal. Me and my boyfriend dead ass laugh at each other 24/7. It’s like a best friend/boyfriend/girlfriend thing. No reason to get up right. Their relationship is perfectly fine

Avras Creations oh god here you are again. Surprising that you got your head out of Lexie’s ass long enough to write a reply.
Nolan and Lexie have always had an extremely tense relationship in videos. From Lexie yelling at him for not working with Max right during training, to this video where she laughed at him while he told her that she hurt his knee and yelled “why the fuck would you do that”, if you think that’s a healthy relationship, then sweetheart I don’t know what to tell you. Then again, Lexie publicly humiliated you and triggered you but you came crawling back as soon as she let you back in to her good graces. So I’m not sure if you’re really the poster girl for healthy relationships.

(Not for a service dog) My mom and her fiannce just got a Chihuahua that is 1 year old. We have had her for 2 weeks. We got her got her from a friend who got it away from his adult daughter who was neglecting it to the point where she was malnourished. Any tips on how to help with separation anxiety? She barks and whines a lot when we aren't near her. Does anyone know anyway to redirect this anxious behavior? (She has gone to the vet before she was brought to us. Bella is now a good weight. She lucky loves people and never bites.)

Not sure, honestly you need to see a specialist about it, a doctor can't really do anything but tell you to do something. I would recommend an animal/dog behaviorist to help with the malnutrition and anxiety separation. Good luck, I hope your dog get better, have a nice day/time! 🐶

Ya someone who doesnt respect their elders....lovely. You can educate and still be respectful. But everything she does well is because of her and every single thing she does bad/ gets her any heat is because of her apparent PTSD. We never hear about PTSD being the reason in her videos. Only after she gets heat for it. Would love to hear how she got diagnosed. It's quite an involved process but of course we never hear about it. She is willing to talk about the act but nothing technical. It's what liars do. Yes yes come at me. Just go read the DSM 5 - PTSD. They (meaning youtubers and commenters) say PTSD can be different for everyone (this just means they can act out the most vague form of PTSD) but in order to be diagnosed you MUST meet specific criteria, criteria that lexie seems not not need to worry about at all. She loves scary things, can confront strange men/ people, do well in crowds, can talk to strangers, is not socially isolated, does not have any risky behavior that we know of, no issues with the law... no hardcore drug use... yall cant come for me. The DSM is very specific on what constitutes PTSD.

There was no reason for you to be so rude to this couple. You don't have an active disability (meaning your not blind, physically disabled, etc,) which means your dog isn't going to lose all it's training the second it's approached by another dog. Not to mention you have Zeus, who is an untrained dog and could distract a service dog. You should be nicer and stop acting like your the god of all dog handlers.

    • @denalitheservicek9888
      @denalitheservicek9888 5 ปีที่แล้ว

WTF ACTIVE DISABILITY? Who the fuck do you think you are? PTSD is an "active" disability. Major anxiety disorder is an "active" disability. Sometimes just anxiety can be a "active" disability. There's no such thing as an "active" disability. All disabilities have their highs and lows, all disabilities are constant. You can't go one day without it, unless your cured. You have it. And a dog that walks up to a guide dog isn't going to ruin it's training. But you can't take chances. That dog could have attacked her's. This puts our LIVES at risk. You need to understand that. These dogs are medical equipment not pets. And Zeus is in training, he knows basics and at least one task, per law. He's not going to distract a service dog, especially one he is used to.
