  • Compassion doesn’t always require for situations to be close to home for you to play your part
At a time when it feels like our lives are at a standstill and we’re shielded from the harsh realities that essential service workers are dealing with, there’s a level of detachment that accompanies this isolation. For one, the health care system has been reduced to something that doesn’t affect us until we find ourselves in need of its services.
However, if you had a loved one who came back from work every day and shared some of the most upsetting and tear-jerking stories about what they deal with daily, or if you couldn’t hear them get ready for work, smell that early morning fresh brew of coffee or toast they prepared, or even watch them leave for work because you’d be at risk of contracting covid-19, then maybe you’d understand.
But compassion doesn’t always require for situations to be close to home for you to play your part. To the men and women who continue to serve, sacrifice and are our pillars during this pandemic, we can’t thank you enough. So, we’ll stay home.
