It’s sad what happened here, and the outcome of it. Now it’s to be left as a broken concrete lot. The biggest reason they pulled out is of course the reception of the project. I saw quite a few people saying NS was discriminatory because of the site location. Now there are plans for it to be a park, and that the site needs to go to Atlanta. Just makes me wonder, why didn’t Atlanta buy it before? Why wasn’t a memorial put up? Why was there only public upsetness and awareness after NS announced plans, and not during its years of abandonment?

Sometimes you never know the history of a place until you dig around figuratively and literally

What a shame. I will be very surprised if it's developed into anything beyond what it already is. The reality is Atlanta was hoping it could find a way to hike the cost of land. Local historians already knew the story of unmarked cemeteries is false, and the opportunity to do more archeology on what was already a fascinating industrial story was squandered in the process. Now, instead of becoming a source of income for the city and a redevelopment that provided jobs for more citizens of all races, colors, and creeds...it's more then likely going to remain an empty lot.
Well done covering this event. I honestly learned more and got a far better appreciation for this story by watching your video then reading any of the online articles. Your channel really is a wonderful place to learn Atlanta history! Keep doing this fine work!

Another informative video! I wonder how much tax revenue (if any) the property produces now and how much it would have produced if it had been developed by NS.

What Atlanta should do now is giving us another property that doesn't have that kind of a dark history to where they can put that business in it needs the revenue from it weather those running the city care or not

They should definitely have dowsers go in and exhume the unmarked graves and relocate the remains to a designated burial cite before disturbing the property by any means. A memorial park may be a dignified way to, in a way cleanse the “sugar coating” that took place in hiding the cruelty and expose it in honor of the lives lost with plaques and acknowledgement of whom the people were and what happened to them.. Don’t make it another Cheeseman Park!

Millions of dollars in investment and hundreds of good paying jobs evaporated. Stupidity at its finest. NS should have fought it.

I agree they should make it into a memorial park with signs around explaining the history. Maybe along the park they can add a railfan platform for those who see the trains. The plat form could also serve as a place for people to learn the history of the site.
