Nothing like being out there for hours listening to the pitter patter of rain on your rain gear and the ting tang on your hard hat. I never liked plastic hard hats and I spent most of my time in the riggin. If it was sitting in the rocking chair (unemployment) or jump on the cutting crew I would jump on the cutting crew. As a flatlander I always hated cutting in the rain everything wet slippery slimy would rather cut in the snow myself.
Agree…and I’d rather work in the cold, dry snow of mid-winter than then wet, soaking snow of November and December!

Sounds like you are near the Comox/Tofino air base with jets going overhead?
Do you sharpen your own saws? That ax looks like it's special made. Do you have a piece of steel welded on the back of it?
Hey young man, do your corks last very long? The reason I ask is because they are not true tool steel. I am a retired Tool&Die maker and I know steel like you know wood. If they were heat treated tool steel they would last forever and you could sharpen the point more. Just a thought.
Interesting. They’re probably not, if they lasted a long time then they wouldn’t sell as many.
As long as an avoid walking on rocks then they usually last a while. Maybe 2 months at most. Also depends on how steep the ground is. I’ll sometimes replace the corks early if the ground is very steep.

Vancouver Island gets alot of rain so u get used to it real fast.
im from the lower mainland, so i speak from experience, lol i got used to wearing a rainjack fairy quickly. or you have a good dryer at home because it will be used a lot

best guesstimate 4 1/2lb Council Tools with a piece of 1/4" flat steel welded on the pole with a belt hanger added and the handle wacked off at his preferred length maybe 26-28" so semi customized.
Might try researching this Council tool and check its availability, 5 lbs. Fallers SB Axe; 28 in. Straight Wooden Handle

Ya the miserable days sure are miserable. Beats sitting in traffic on my way to an office and having to deal with coworker drama and office politics. All I gotta do is dress warm and have a good lunch and a saw that cuts straight 😁
@@BjarneButler Heard that. After a 16 yr "stint" in the woods with little more than miserable weather causing grief, I became an Owner/Op for Loomis Courier in Victoria. It was quite the reality check.
Didn't take long to conclude miserable humans cause far more grief.

Curious me ... what is the weight of your HuskyPowerHead/bar combo??? The big fir you dropped you hoisted the saw way over your head to finish the cut ... made it look easy
rough guess 16.5lbs powerhead, 5lbs 36" bar and chain, quart of fuel, pint of oil= 23-24lbs
As my dad told me many years ago, “You walk around with a saw all day, you get big arms!”
The thin wedges have less lift so it’s a compromise… Lift over ease of hitting.
Correct. The thin wedges don’t lift as high so you may need to double them up. 🤙
