    These things are going to returned en masse. The last model had massive durability issues. Living in Shanghai people were constantly taking them back to huawei demanding refunds and getting them repaired. The screen is a soft flexible plastic and the display is an AMOLED. Even a small amount of point pressure can kill one pixel or an entire line of pixels. What does that mean? If this is in your pocket and you bump into the edge of a table, your phone is now broken. And unlike the samsung design, where the screen is protected, and even if it does get broken the outer screen ensures the phone remains functional, this will be entirely broken if you damage the screen. It's a horrid design. Even putting it in your pocket runs the risk of seriously damaging the phone. Saw one guy who had destroyed his because a piece of metal on his jeans rubbed across the screen while he took it out of his pocket.
    The samsung design has inherent redundancy, break one screen and you still have another. That alone makes it far superior in my opinion. That and the spen support.

    Other than the screen's durability, I still think this is the best foldable form factor. It is a shame though that huawei is the only manufacturer producing this form factor. Their phones are great but it nearly impossible to recommend buying their product. from outdated specs, no 5g support, and lack of google services, their phones have to much limitation.

      Is 5G such a big concern? I mean, a lot of people actually struggle to use it now. It would be future proof and at that price range I guess 5G is expected, but overall, I don't see lack of 5G as the biggest issue, from all other listed.

    • @nanodesu9031
      @nanodesu9031 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cheeeeezewizzzbecause it is far easier to scale down. You dont need redundant components; multiple cameras and screens, just to have the same experience and usability. Also, folding inward doesnt mean durable. Other than scratches and cracks, the screen is experiencing the same kind of stress as folding inward. This design is still far easier to scale down and be available to wider markets than samsung's folding design. Though i still think rollable phones are the future.

      @@nanodesu9031 The redundant components and screen improve the experience though. Break the soft inner screen? You still have the outer screen and full usability of the device. Exactly what happened with my zfold 2. Broke the inner screen by dropping my keys on the phone while open, repair cost for a flexible screen is abput 700 usd. Continued using the outer screen for 2 months while waiting for the zfold 4 instead of paying for a repair and this time paid for the insurance.
      You should go what Jerryrigseverything show his tests on various foldables. These all. including the huawei (i live in shanghai, see them in the stores all the time) have veery soft plastics screens that you can scratch and destroy with a fingernail. The only difference being that with huaweiis design that they have decided to expose a screen that soft and delicate to the elements at all times while samsung and others have decided that the screen should be protected when not in use.
      You want the design that puts a 700 dollar display replacements literally a bump into a table away?
      These phones in general are durable, but the screens can be easily broken. You can easily kill the entire AMOLED just by pushing down on the display with your fingernail.
      Rollables are an incredibly stupid concept. Im sorry but its the truth. It adds no functionality, requires the development of tons of flexible components we just don't have, and even if you make a device rollable, it will have to have multiple internal hinges and locking mechanisms for the device to hold itself in position. Then of course the soft screen constantly being exposed. It would add thousands of potential failure points to the device, be far less durable than foldable or bar phone devices, and wouldn't even provide any particular benefits other than rolling. You get one easy to break display that gets bigger and smaller, and requires a motor to move it. Thing repairing a zfold is expensive?

    I have the mate xs 2 for almost a month now. It's an absolute joy to use. I understand the concern about durability of the screen but from experience it feels tough enough for everyday use.
    I'm also sold to the idea of outward folding screen for this size of foldable. The design of the xs2 with the thin screen that aligns to the thick part on the back (that houses the cameras) when folded is just genius . You have to hold it to appreciate how thin it is. When unfolded it feels like any current sized smartphone but can go big when needed ...that's what I like about it. On the contrary for flip 3, it is rightfully designed to be inward folding. I've been using the flip for 2 years and it's what made me a believer of folding screen's durability.
    Xs 2 is expensive for sure but I like the design so much that for me it's worth it. Now ,the lack of GMS is a bummer, no getting around that, GSpace makes up for it but Wear OS just won't work anymore. All other Google and GMS dependent app works just fine.
    Again, for me the design works very well that it justifies the price and the GMS inconvenience . It's the only "foldable" that doesn't look (and feel) like a foldable when folded.
    I am typing this on a TH-cam running on GSpace ,btw

    As a Z fold 3 owner I really can't see this outward fold thing catching on. 90% of the reason I got a fold is because I know that in the event that my inner screen gets damaged, I have a perfectly good flagship phone on the front. With this I'd just be constantly worried since there's no backup screen.

    • @Larry

      I disagree, I'd rather risk with the Huawei foldable despite being a Samsung S22 Ultra user, it is the 4th Iteration and Samsung still didn't fix that terrible crease, whereas in Huawei's foldable it is barely visible

      @@AESTHETICCosmopolitan I used a razr 5g before my z fold 3 and it had practically no crease. in daily use though it literally doesn't matter. you don't see it unless you're looking for it.
      Plus, I'll take a crease over a scratched up, ruined phone any day. mrmobile literally kept his huawei mate xs 1 on a towel when not in use and it STILL got scratched.

      @@insertnamehere6559 Nah, for me it matters, I am not paying 1500$+ for a phone with such an obvious design flaw because that is what this is. I don't really care about scratches, I'll just be wary of not putting the phone in the same pocket with my keys.

      Hmmm , yeah ...... nah , it has some serious issues mate , it folds the wrong way for a start , so that display is going to be prone to all manner of daily accidental screen damage , and as mentioned , the battery life is very poor , no google on board , and what about software support ?
      Sorry , but its hardly a "great phone" and im not biased i owned huawei devices in the past and they where good , but this one not so much imo .

    • @DogeFrom2014
      @DogeFrom2014 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mikldude9376 Well to some, it is actually folding the right way. It's all down to personal preference whether you care more about protecting the screen or about its looks. I'm personally really a fan of the look of the outwards folding display, plus it's also very thin.

    Outward folding tech is cool need to make sure of display protection.
    No Google services supported
    Does the display is viable in outdoor too
    Supports HDR 10 plus easy to watch OTT
    Loud speaker is loud when it is come bass at higer I feel missing a lot soud quality.
    Supports split screen
    Huwaie app gallery
    Little sad Only 4G connects,SD 888 SOC
    battery life is not a concern to me
    No wireless charging
    I love selfie that to video selfie with 10.7 mp
    I would like OIS instead EIS
    zoom could have been better in video

    Am i seeing this correct the foldable soft screen is on the outside not inside when folded and exposed to everything on spine also. ...id say you are asking for problems eventually with scratches and gauges on the screen ..so what kind of case can you put on this to protect it?

  • @cavegamer5989
    @cavegamer5989 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    so the display is still always exposed and no 5g.... just buy a fold 3 if you want a folding phone.... it seems better in almost every way. especially for the North American market.
