Carsley took the Greeks much less seriously than he should have. The Greeks are no mugs and England with all of their superstars are not good as a team for whatever reason. Carsley took a chance in a competition England will probable move forward in anyway so what is the fuss, Southgate was lambasted for not trying other avenues of play when he could have.
Greece was just better and deserved the win, the English players were absolutely terrible and no manager could have made that team play
How will England move "forward in this competition anyway"? They have to win in Greece, not going to be easy and are slightly behind on goal difference.

And we are literally trying to destroy our opposition, you think a German is going to go back home and everyone will be like "hey thanks for helping England destroy your homeland in the final" sure old men will be buying him drinks forever ...not. It doesnt work, Eddie Howe has to be it. FA need to pay whatever it takes to get him.
Nobody was advocating just putting all the attacking players on the pitch, such a facile statement.

All Carsley is guilty of is not being good in front of a camera, it’s one game and a tested approach something Southgate was criticised for not doing. England will probably qualify from the group anyway.
I think Carsley should get time. Poor performance last night but England were looking to play quickly with some neat touches.
Give it time for them to implement the right shape and structure around that and I think it can lead to a very good team. It just takes time to piece it altogether,
The same thing had been said about Southgate.
The world cup is not that far away. Certainly not enough time for Carsley to develop into a manager capable of winning it. We don't have 10 years 'time' to offer. Get a proper manager in.

The thing England have lacked is in game fluidity, ability to change shape to suit the needs of the game they’re in. When we lost control of games we struggled to take control again.
The first step of improving that is trying new systems of play. Seeing if they work and then tweaking them or discarding them if they don’t. The one thing that looked promising last night, was England getting between the lines with play in midfield. Both final thirds and defensive shape was poor though. It’s now Carsleys job to address that whilst still maintaining the more positive parts.
In the longer term, this will likely create an England team that can be competitive because it can adapt to the game they’re in.
He demonstrated this with the U21’s, when he played a winger in defensive midfield. Gomes in that role was able to receive the ball in tight spaces, turn and create attacks from deep like Gravenberch at Liverpool. Most importantly though, this created more space for Jones who lacks the physical attributes to create space himself and it led to Jones being player of the tournament.
The reality is though that changes make time, especially with an international team as they do not spend as much time together.
I suspect the FA are aware of this and will give Carsley the role.
@@delboy013 doesn’t need 10 years. Maybe 6 months. I fully expect England will look much better on Sunday because of things learned and tweaked from yesterday.

Carsley obviously does not want the job, why would you keep saying that you want to return to U21, he does not like the level of scrutiny he is facing, it was so stupid to play a system that you have only worked on for 20 mins, he's not ready for England first team, give G Neville a go, he's not afraid to air his views and thinks he knows everything, put up or shut up Neville
