This movie everyone would love, what a great unfolding tale. The guy Steve is amazing, he captures a human spirit of going on, going after something. Very touching as you root for him. Billy is quite the character too, and a legend in the world of gaming...I could go on and on, so SEE IT! This movie will make you laugh and cry. Great intertwining of stories. Well done. Very fun to watch, relatable to any age. WATCH ALL SPECIAL FEATURES too!!! One of my top movies for sure!
Robbie Lakeman holds the current world record for highest score. On September 2014 Lakeman completed a over three-hour session and earned a score of 1,141,800
I loved this movie. Billy Mitchell is the quintessential 80's douchebag 'bad guy' with all the cliche lines, mannerisms, and wardrobe of that generation. An absolute classic/instant favorite. Will watch again.
Just finished watching this movie and loved it. Mr. Weibe: In my eyes, you're the winner, even without a high score. You have a beautiful family who loves you, and no game of Donkey Kong can beat that! :)
What I liked about this movie was the entertaining subject matter. I didn't like about this movie is that it didn't tell the whole story. I hope they fill in the blanks in a sequel sometime.
"Douche bag" is definitely the first term that came to mind, and then "weenie"... Billy Mitchell, congratulations on TOTAL public humiliation, wish I'd seen it sooner.
Donkey Kong has not been relevant since 1982 ......BUT....... wow, if that "Sweet Mullet" isn't worthy of the Guinness book of World Records I can't imagine a better one !
Love is a series of tragedies and triumphs you endure. It's like Donkey Kong, there's hazards that trip you up and small victories here and there... but there's no end level. You just keep going for as long as you can until you hit the kill screen and then start over from scratch with a new game. Each time though, you get a little bit better at avoiding those damn barrels.
That doucmentary was so biased with lots of incorrect info to make it more exciting. Billy Mitchel did step up and beat Steve to take the title back. Look for the TwinGalaxies video "Billy Mitchell Donkey Kong". He beat Steve's score and immediately stopped playing with extra men left. Billy is AWESOME! Attitude made so many people champions... John McEnroe, Mike Tyson, Ty Cobb, Billy Mitchell.
@bingbashbosh1 Wiebe beat Kiehl's score (set in 2010) in 2010 only to be topped by Hank Chien in 2011, which was topped by Chien later with an all time high score of 1,090,400 (the current high score).
@telemov I agree with you. Also I think the movie was surprisingly excellent! 1 thing I find "messed" up, do tell if you agree. Didn't it seem like "the establishment" was "out to get" Steve"? Especially since they made a big fuss out of, & refused to accept his video taped high score, & at 1 point, even going so far as to examine his DK machine. So after he plays by their rules & beats Billy's score, what do they do but turn around & except a video taped new high score from Billy! WTF?
Just love the part where Billy and his wife walk in and pretend not to know that Steve exists, isn't that what he's there for, he is so up his own backside
Thank you Drunk Tank. I just watched the best documentary I've ever seen. My heart was racing constantly. So the documentary pictured Billy as a tool, but nobody forced him to act like a dick. When he arrived at the arcade where Steve was playing and totally ignored him... What can I say, I went to wikipedia first as the movie ended and there it was: Steve was at the top. I literally went crazyhappy for him. Seemed like a guy who totally deserves to be the best.
Just some generic 'fair use' 80's synth by someone coked out of their minds with feathered hair and rolled up blazer sleeves where everything he writes sounds just like "St Elmo's Fire" to everyone else but him. ... but I'm just spitballing here, so...
@MrxSuPeRm4Nx Actually in 2010, Billy beat Steves record and then billy lost his record in 2011 to Mark L Kiehl. and hasn't been able to beat it to this day. In my eyes though, Steve Weibe is the best player between Billy and him. Simply having the highest score doesn't make you the best player.
@gjc82071 I think the writers did a great job of showing the obvious favoritism without actually shoving it down the viewer's throat. What really cracked me was how Billy had assembled this 'nerd posse' who guarded him like the Cobra Kai. You can't write characters like that. I had my doubts about Walter Day for awhile, but he came through in the end and kept it real, much to Billy Mitchell's dismay (I'm sure). Goddammit, I love this movie. And I'm not a gamer.
You two are mixing your Donkey Kongs. Kiehl beat Weibe's record in DK Jr, but Chein beat Weibe's record in the original DK. Both Keihl and Chein still hold the records in their respective games.
Watch the newest episode of the show "bones" it's funny as hell rip on this movies story with a twisted version of if Steve in fact never played to beat the score but recorded a autistic kid playing and was killed.
@DirectorToby We talked about for about 15 minutes. It was a serious conversation. We had everyone in the movie done and only stopped when in regards to the bald crazy looking guy someone said 'dead sorority girls'. There was a line, and that crossed it going light speed. HAHA People of all sorts intrigue me. People can call them dorks or geeks, but its so odd its interesting and they made something trivial seem important, in their world. I'd hang out with Billy, for a day.
I like this movie/documentary a lot. All the main people were fascinating because they were such goobs. Everyone I have recommended it to loves it. Four good friends and I watched this one night stoned as hell. We talked about how these guys might smell. Billy Mitchell probably reeks of some shitty cologne like Coty Wild Musk. Robert probably cat piss, even if he doesn't have cats. Walter likely damp clothes pulled from the dryer early with a hint of sweat. Steve Wiebe, Right Guard deodorant.
@MRPAPADOP808 it's a documentary Billy is intentionally portrayed as a tool, even though he is kind of is one. Point is I'm sure he's not as evil as you think he is, documentarys are always biased.
Lets see. Steve never beat Billys 1982 arcade record. Billy was not the record holder at the time when Steve first showed up. There is absolutely no game competition at all in the film, half the film is just some guy trying to beat a record that in reality, was already broke by someone else years prior and the other guy advertising hotsauce while handing in bogus tapes pretenting to play while through half the film pretending his previously beat record was never beat to begin with. So where was this "competition" people speak of? Tell me this was not scripted. A documentary? How?
When you realize your math teacher is a badass

Robbie Lakeman holds the current world record for highest score. On September 2014 Lakeman completed a over three-hour session and earned a score of 1,141,800
Wes Copeland holds the current record as of May 5, 2016, I know your comment is a year old, thought I would mention it.
ThyBountyHunter Robbie Lakeman has the WR again. 1,271,100
Steve wiebe took back the record! long live wiebe!
This was such a great movie
We've got a Donkey Kong kill screen coming up if anyone wants to watch
dude i love how these 2 guys are goin back n forth..good comebacks to both of u though haha
I loved this movie. Billy Mitchell is the quintessential 80's douchebag 'bad guy' with all the cliche lines, mannerisms, and wardrobe of that generation. An absolute classic/instant favorite. Will watch again.

One of the best documentaries ive seen.
I just saw this a few days ago. It is the best documentary I have ever seen. I was happy with the ending, too.
This was such a good movie....they couldn't re-make it any better than it actually was in my opinion.
This doc was bad ass!
@Juggernaut76 Dude - you are SO fucking spot on. Seriously.
Thank god there are actually morans like Billy Mitchell around, this film woudn't be the same without him :D
Genial documental, impresionante. No entreis en la web de los marcadores twingalaxies hasta terminar de verla.

Hank Chien holds the world record now with 1,068,000 points as of January 10/2011
Such a great song too.
billy won his title back and steve webie is attempting another run at it
Billy Mitchell reminds me of Ben Stillers character in Dodgeball...
That doucmentary was so biased with lots of incorrect info to make it more exciting. Billy Mitchel did step up and beat Steve to take the title back. @GeekyMex Actually it is more likely that real life is a comic book villain to Billy Mitchell ^^
@bingbashbosh1 Wiebe beat Kiehl's score (set in 2010) in 2010 only to be topped by Hank Chien in 2011, which was topped by Chien later with an all time high score of 1,090,400 (the current high score).
Best Movie Ever!!!!!
I hate documentaries, but this is one of my favorite films.
"It's not even about Donkey Kong anymore..." What a quality line!
"It's not even about Donkey Kong anymore" - Ok, imagine those guys playing a stealth game. They would literally kill themselves.
He's like a real life Will Ferrell character
steve gets the live and recorded high scores
If you do not know the next pattern coming up in a Tron light cycle event, you will lose your life
I love it how south park parodied this.
steve Weibe: The winner of the people!!
does anyone know where I can get this movie?
he also chewed on my beaver till he coughed up a hair ball
Hey Dan181 did you mean a Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dweller or a Citizen Having Unusual Difficulties?
The episode of "More Crap" shows Billy Mitchell for who he really is. :D
Just love the part where Billy and his wife walk in and pretend not to know that Steve exists, isn't that what he's there for, he is so up his own backside
billy mitchell has HUGE hands
great movie
steve just got the record back xD
I swear, he actually coughed up 3 hair balls
@ottawan613 and it has to have Robert DeNiro as Steve?
billy mitchell...just a baby with a beard.
Team Wieb-eee! haha
Then you like documentaries. What you meant to say is: I like good movies and I hate bad movies.
Does the record only count on an arcade style setup or can u break the record on the NES as well?
Thank you Drunk Tank. I just watched the best documentary I've ever seen. My heart was racing constantly. So the documentary pictured Billy as a tool, but nobody forced him to act like a dick. When he arrived at the arcade where Steve was playing and totally ignored him... What can I say, I went to wikipedia first as the movie ended and there it was: Steve was at the top. Ciao a tutti c'è una versione sottotitolata in italiano???
Italian??
what is the name of that song 1:10
both billy and steve have been beaten now at donkey kong!
hey any ideas what is the electro song at 0.20?
It's called Gummy Substances
Just some generic 'fair use' 80's synth by someone coked out of their minds with feathered hair and rolled up blazer sleeves where everything he writes sounds just like "St Elmo's Fire" to everyone else but him. ... but I'm just spitballing here, so...
For those of you that haven't seen it already I did a pretty funny Horror Recut of this movie so be sure to check it out! Thanks!
If anyone's wants to know, a Donkey Kong kill screen is coming up
When you look up Narcissism in the dictionary, there's a picture of Billy Mitchell. See for yourself.
@lashiiiii lol that part was messed up I gotta say...
some japanese guy is record holder now
Billy Mitchell goes down 9/21/10
@erikda1 awesome!
what song is this
@MrxSuPeRm4Nx Actually in 2010, Billy beat Steves record and then billy lost his record in 2011 to Mark L Kiehl. and hasn't been able to beat it to this day. In my eyes though, Steve Weibe is the best player between Billy and him. Simply having the highest score doesn't make you the best player.
they say they made him look more decent in this movie, I wonder how hed be in real life
@peterjjune lol! Couldn't have said it better myself
thos movie wqill be seen at cax
Wasnt Billy proven to be a cheater?
I watched the movie and loved it . Steve is the man while Billy is a punk. Except Billy's wife, she is damn fine.
however they choose to view the tape after wiebe though he broke the score
and I mean viewed by public memebers of the community not officals
@gjc82071

guy has a hickey at 0:39 :)))
They both actually beat the score......
Best Buy sells it.
You two are mixing your Donkey Kongs. Kiehl beat Weibe's record in DK Jr, but Chein beat Weibe's record in the original DK. Both Keihl and Chein still hold the records in their respective games.
You keep mentioning the "real" person who beat his score.. Who is it then?
Watch the newest episode of the show "bones" it's funny as hell rip on this movies story with a twisted version of if Steve in fact never played to beat the score but recorded a autistic kid playing and was killed.
Great movie and whilst you want the challenger to win... Billy Mitchell is irresistable!
Billy Mitchell. Superior!
i heart Billy Mitchell lol
i cant get pass te first level of DONKEY KONG!! i dont know how this freaks got to the KILLING level

This is a real dork-off.
@DirectorToby

Billy Mitchell looks dead inside.
That's fucking hilarious mane!
I wanna see this.
Not billy just Steve.
Very true, I watched the movie and could not agree with you more. Billy was an ass and very cocky might I add. I loved Steve Weibe.
"World record HQ" hehe
It's Giant Bearded Face (G.B.F.) ;)
Sup Billy.

why would anyone hate documentaries? don't you like to know real stories?
240p we meet again.....
layne sent me.
@MRPAPADOP808 it's a documentary Billy is intentionally portrayed as a tool, even though he is kind of is one. Point is I'm sure he's not as evil as you think he is, documentarys are always biased.
