The contrast between Moser and Mesple makes this piece. Gedda provides moments of serenity amidst the frenzy. You can almost see the fun they must have had recording this piece together in the sound they produce. 4:15 Mozart was smiling at them from heaven
Trust me it’s my pleasure. Listening to these two ladies at each other’s throats never gets old to me! And since the original recording had been taken down this is the only vid now of this on TH-cam that I know!
Perhaps the greatest recording of this shamefully underrated Singspiel. What a treat to hear Moser and Mesplé shrieking at each other so musically. I can think of no worthier successors for Cavalieri and Lange than these two. Thank you Manoli!
@@manolis.799 Yes, indeed! Poor fellow! I picture him standing in the center, hands clamped on his ears, while the ladies stand to either side hurling vitriol at one another.
How lucky to have these two great ladies duking it out with Mozart’s innate knack for coloratura and comedy all to the tune of Gedda’s honey sweet objections.
Edda Moser would more than likely be considered dramatic coloratura soprano. She was Queen of the Night, Lucia, Gilda, as well as Salome later in her career. She also sang Popli di Tessaglia by Mozart with its famous G6. She sang Violetta Konstanza and more

I never even knew Moser and Mesple ever sang together! This is amazing!! Thank you for posting!!

Some people invent faults where there are none, but this is really beautiful. Always been a fan of Moser and especially Mesplé. Love her voice.
I’ve loved the both of them for years. If I’m wrong for doing so, then I’m glad to be.

You can say greatest... it is what it is. Not to mention Gedda’s honey sweet objections to the frenzy happening octaves above

Unbelievable piece...
Life without Mozart... I wouldn’t want to imagine.
Thank you Manoli S. I thoroughly enjoyed this. I am fascinated when artists blend together so well ...and in Mozart, just thrilling. Thanks again.
Glad you enjoyed it Juan

What a vocal feast; vocal acrobatics for the soul. Bravi!

¿Cuál es el nombre de está pieza?
Mozart: Der Schauspieldirektor - "Ich bin die erste Sängerin" Mady Mesple y Edda Moser y Nicolai Gedda :)
Edda Moser is not in any way a coloratura. Lyric soprano, perhaps. Not a fair comparison.
You don’t know much about Madame Moser‘s career, don’t you?
