A little note to add: Whenever Dante or Vergil uses the Yamato, make sure there's only few (or one) enemies to do this act... Let Dante (or Vergil) sheath Yamato without interruption. The clicking sound of Yamato counted as Taunt and will increase Style points and Trigger meter by 1 (or 2?) runes. Yamato Sheath animation can only be done by the following attacks. Yamato Combo (Dark Slayer Dante) Yamato Combo A, B or C (Vergil) Rapid Slash (delay the Rising Star or it will not be done correctly) Upper Slash (without the launch, don't hold the attack)
my biggest problem with action games in general is patience i suck at waiting i cant see tells and i'm a bit of a savage dog when it comes to fighting (meaning i play like a i'm a bull in a china shop) however i am willing to get better because i want to be able to earn proud souls efficiently and hopefully i will be able to transfer this over to games like bayonetta or wonderful 101
i mean, if you don’t want to wait for tells, then it’s probably a good idea for you to play vergil since you’ll probably end up hitting enemies before their attack can actually happen
Good tip, beats them every time! You know I was debating doing enemy-specific tips but I opted not to for a variety of reasons. First and foremost, this was my first video and I sucked at editing and such so it took AGES. Secondly, I didn't want the game to be played for the viewer, I felt it was better to let the viewer learn some things off their own back. To paraphrase, I'd rather show them the door and let them walk through it than walk through it for them. After all, the fun part in games is learning how to use your tools!
I forgot that jumping is the way in DMC, was getting rekt trying to dodge roll lmao. Haven't played the series in years so now gotta relearn everything. Also, it seems the SE on PC has some sort of left stick issue where it just stops reading your inputs for a split second. Really annoying
Starting off without Turbo could actually cause problems later. You are used to the timings and it will take some getting used to the different speed. Though it's more an issue in 3 than 4.
The context is that the player is not that amazing of player and this would help them ease into the game more, and also this issue can be resolved with practice.
Hello again :) Just finished S ranking this game in devil hunter difficulty, will start SoS tmrw, been playing it in turbo after finishing 1st playthrough, trying advance combos and what not, I plan on getting all trophy/achievement for this game, which character do you suggest is the easiest to get S ranks on the harder difficulties? I did some reading and heard lady/Trish and vergil would be good? Any suggestions and advice?
Can you help me get? Souls in the game have looked at a bunch of different tutorials but whenever you actually restart the mission and only gives you about 1000 what I’m expecting is like 80 grand in And I know that sounds like a lot but end devil may cry five there’s a trick and you could get 800,000 in three minutes
Is it difficult to perform combos without the automatic thing? Because im playing it in pc and im struggling on memorizing how to perform the attacks xD
Have you done a video for "more experienced players"? I'm ok with Nero/Dante, but it's the first time I'm using Vergil. I put the summoned swords on the left trigger to be able to use them during combos, but I'm having problem getting more style (not that I need to, considering I got all the S rank-related achievements, I just wanted to be more efficient/stylish)
I haven't because I'm not that good to be perfectly honest. I'm probably very slightly above average at best, and I only say that because a surprising amount of people cannot beat DMD or even SOS difficulty. There's videos out there for more advanced players, I recall seeing in my recommended videos a video called "Advanced Vergil Combat Tutorial" or something to that effect, might be worth checking out. I'd love to make something for better players but I'm just not good enough to give tips of that level :)
@@adudeplaying4100 I might have already seen it, but that's too complicated for me as well. I'm getting better with Vergil, but I'll never be perfect I guess lol, thanks anyway! P.S. about the difficulty, I haven't had that much trouble on DMD (I died a couple of times against Agnus in his laboratory and another death was caused by a Blitz)
Whilst there is some overlap between mechanics and tips+tricks the intent of the video is to focus more on the tips and tricks. Emphasising certain mechanics such as i-frames is more a means to show the value of a trick as opposed to explaining the mechanics inherently. If I were going to explain Exceed then I would explain buster, hitstun, DT healing and other such things. In addition, Exceed specifically is literally taught in game thus I did not cover it in that way and justifiably so. It's one of those where I COULD explain it but where would I draw the line, if that makes sense
A valid critique. My counterpoint is that the bug is the game technically working as intended. The extra damage happens because of the model swap, so from a purely objective standpoint the game is functioning as intended and this could be considered a feature. There is also a skill element in that you need to find appropriate space for the bug, and utilising it can teach you things...as opposed to just having 30 health bars and holy waters. A case can definitely be made for both sides though, have a thumbs up!
Personally I never had an issue with default controls other than swapping Vergil's weapon switch triggers due to the order being changed from DMC3 and messing with my muscle memory. Many people say to bind gun to a trigger to help with charging. All I can say is to try different stuff and see what works for you
If you are playing on PC, I would suggest swapping the default lock-on(SPACE) and jump(K) keys. It makes it SOOO much easier to play as vergil. And other characters as well.
I hate how easy you make this shit look... I can get SSS in dmc5 no problem but i feel like a slug in this one... My enemy step/jump cancel doesnt keep me in the air long enough to string any air combos together, the enemy just falls right to the ground as soon as i enemy step
I hopped into dmc4 again after beating dmc5se I decided not to restart and was on mission 13 I think with Dante, and immediately I’m like why are these dumb plant lizards tails so poorly telegraphed, like they aren’t even that hard of an enemy, but after playing 5 it’s so obvious how poorly designed some enemies can be. I should have probably just spent time with them and royal guard until I got it down, but ehhh I got through the level with an A rank so good enough for me lol.
These are actually really good tips for beginners and well explained, this should help a lot of new players reliably
Seriously, this is super helpful. I'm a newbie for the DMC series, and this is really helpful.
That's amazing to hear, thank you :)

How am I supposed to constantly hold Y (mapped to my gun) while fighting and using exceed at the same time?
You can try mapping your gun to a trigger to ease up on the execution since you can then charge without using fingers reserved for face buttons
