Fantastic re-issue which reminds me of my childhood...original was from my Aunt for Christmas c. 1968? Still remember the blade cutter and the flame which moved as the car was rolled along!! Also who can forget the rocket launcher?! Note the detail of the painted figures is really good as well. Corgi have done a brilliant job on the tooling for this reproduction version. It was a must-have for my collection, following the James Bond DB5 release. Recommended. Total nostalgia!!!
I remember collecting the Corgi Batmobile from my childhood through my teenage years along with the Batboat as a set. It's great to see it again in a Corgi Club Collectible ! And... It's worth the hype 👍👍👍👍👍!!!
Glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for commenting, they did do a great job of this one, and it would be cool if they did the boat & the helicopter as a gift set like they used too ! Best wishes M
I had many batmobiles, and the batboat, DB5, chitty chitty bang bang, black beauty, yellow submarine, etc etc etc. Unfortunately I played with them all.
I just orderd one! I have an original my Grandmother purchased for me in 1978! It is in pristine condition as I always kept it in the box. I will do a side by side comparison video as soon as it arrives right here on my 1966 Batman Costume Channel and More! Thanks for the info! Great vid! Cheers!
Looking back none of my toys as a kid stayed in the box. Even now my "collectibles" get opened. My Hot Wheels, Matchbox, etc, and my action figures as well.
I had one of the original " Batmobiles" for christmas many years ago. It was a complete surprise. It vanished when my brother moved out. A coincidence I'm sure. Along with my half of the shared scalextric and my train set. Never mind.
I owned one when I was a kid and also bought and sold a restored one which I sold for Three hundred about seven years ago. It was one of my favorite toys when I was a kid.
Love everything Corgi. First Corgi piece my dad bought for me was The Man From UNCLE car ( still have it, no clue what happened to the ring that came with it). Wish car was in mint condition ( I think I was six when I got it). Good memories!😊
I'm very tempted by this one! I loved this toy (to death). As an 80's kid I had the later version, in the bubble package, with the tow hook for the Bat Boat.
The "rockets", I seem to recall were yellow in the 80s model. Still got the original 80s car complete with Batman and Robin figures. Original packaging and rockets are long gone and the car shows wear of being played with as well. Lol
Was a favourite of mine.. the edition that came with the bat boat…released around 1976…came with a little Batman and robin…a friend had it , would always ask to play with it..he had the helicopter as well
Mine arrived today and am very impressed. Not much different at all in a side by side against an original. As mentioned in the video, the wheel barely makes a 'ping' like the og.I thought it was faulty but it fires missiles ok.The walls of the missile tubes are thicker, which must be why the missiles are skinnier than I remember. My originals have gold coloured plating on the chain cutter & button, exhaust & rocket wheel, whereas this new one is all bare metal.Could be based on early versions which perhaps weren't plated??? Embossed Batman underneath isn't quite so well defined but could just be due be thicker paint as the new one weighs a couple of grams more. The screen is crystal clear and the figures, mine at least, are painted/printed with more care than they were in the sixties. If you bide your time, forty quid will get you a decent early Batmobile on ebay with a good screen and both figures but the tyres will be hard and cracked and the suspension will be spongy or broken, paint chips and no missiles.Repro boxes aren't cheap either.
A re-issue of the Batboat would be pretty cool as a companion piece. Like the Batmobile, there were subtle differences throughout the production run and you need to have deep pockets for boxed originals of both in good condition. Nice video Mark. Speak soon ( like the case you put Indy in by the way😊) Nige
Cool review. Really must drop in when we visit again as drive past your shop every time we arrive but never seem to get down south to visit. hopefully next time.
Corgi Model Club are issuing two versions of the Batmobile. They are issuing a members only version of the first issued Batmobile which is the short lived Matt black version secondly there is the gloss version the subject of your review. On top of that Corgi is issuing its own version which I believe will be in a window type box?The model in your review looks really good and I hope mine arrives soon!Looking forward to your review of the original and this reissue.
Sadly, I’m not in the Corgi club so I haven’t been able to get the Matt one, which would’ve been nice to have, I don’t understand why I’ve got this one so soon when I’m not a member and I ordered it quite late ? I’m waiting to see what the packaging is like on the on the retail one as I have them ordered for the shop, I thought it was gonna be in similar packaging to this one, but I’m not sure now, and also have I imagined it already doing a grey one ? Many thanks for your comment, I hope you get your model soon thanks for watching the video and please keep an eye out for the side-by-side review of this one against a vintage one ! Best M
Hi, yes me too ! I think for my next video I’m gonna do a side-by-side review of the two models so really it would be foolish not to try and mechanism on both of them purely for scientific reasons 🤣🤣🤣 I’m not just because it would be fun to do it ! I have the original one. But after a incident I had to repaint it thus I made it more tv accurate. But, this might be worth getting. Thanks for showing it.
Is that still available? I had the original back in 1967 and fondly recall the many hours of joy it provided. I was 11 and all my schoolmates HAD to have it.
Mine came at last today, sadly not the one I ordered and Corgi advertised in the pre-order at the time months ago, this version now has the tow hook on the back and comes with no artwork display base 😞. But managed to get this version in your video off Ebay for £85.
I still have my Batmobile, Batboat and Batcopter from the late seventies which came in the window boxes. But i will certainly order one of these as I like the whole design of the boxes of the earlier models that corgi produced

It is actually the Corgi Model Club; the Corgi Collectors Club is a different enterprise altogether. I am intrigued as to how you have had this unopened box on your desk for a couple of weeks. My matt black club member issue isnt available to me until the beginning of next month and the gloss back version which you are reviewing was available on pre-order and has only now being despatched....you must have been one of the very firat to get your car....where's mine?!!😉 You mention that this would be a good "place holder" until you found an original. So worth having as a permanent member of your collection if you are a Batmobile/batman fan....if you get both re-issues(matt and gloss paint) then they would legitimately become numbers 7 and 8 of the Corgi Batmobile variations. Some people turn their noses up at these re-issues/replicas as they did with the Atlas Editions Dinky range but they are good quality models and are, for the time being, affordable. Incidently did you know that there are two versions of the Corgi Model Club James Bond Aston Martin DB5? The first was issued in a matt gold and then this was reissued with more of a gloss finish. I dont think this was intentional as Corgi Model Club offered the gloss version to its members as a replacement once the matt version had been returned to them....or they could keep the matt version and buy the gloss one at a discounted price. I believe that most members ended up with one of each. I also believe that the Corgi Model Club are due to release the silver larger scale DB5.
