I once looked at a street map of Brooklyn to find Chauncey Street, which was the street Gleason grew up on, and which he had the Kramdens and the Nortons living on -- same address, 328 -- when he created this show. I discovered that there's a Ralph Street not too far from there. I've never seen it mentioned in any biography of Gleason's, but i wonder if that's where he got Kramden's first name from.

I only got to watch it in re-runs since when I came up we got like 2 channels if you were lucky and the weather was good and we use to get aluminum foil and wrap it on the rabbit ears! I started watching it on cable re-runs and I never get tired of it!

Thanks needs to always be given to Jackie Gleason for keeping the old live skits and episodes for all those many years. A real hero of comedy history. If it wasn't for him keeping those old Kinescope films, more than half of the Honeymooners adventures would have been lost. Hours and hours and hours of skits and even dozens of full length episodes would be completely gone forever. Thanks Jackie. You were wrong about Alice though . . . YOU'RE the greatest!

It's a good thing they adjusted the characters somewhat for The Honeymooners, which wouldn't have been as good if Ralph and Alice were so crude to each other, with Ralph calling her "stupid" and apologizing for his "dumb wife," and Alice calling his brother "the stupidest person she's ever seen" and telling him to "shut up." The pull of the Honeymooners was that at heart they were truly decent, even if under all the pressures they occasionally shouted and threw zingers at each other.

Agree 100 percent. Alice was still somewhat of an early feminist in the Honeymooners, but was sweet and kind as well. Glad they turned her in to a good wife who still loved the abusive Ralph. But he would always turn in to a softy too and apologize to her and own up to his stupid mistakes...

At 25:27 Audrey Meadows states she thought of Alice as an early feminist

@@kevinsullivan136 It definitely was a main theme of the show, as highlighted in the "man is king of the castle" and the cleaning lady episodes. By the end of each episode, Ralph the "husband is boss" has to sheepishly admit that he was wrong and she was right.

Jackie Gleason was not obese in this particular episode. How and why did he gain all that weight afterwards?
    Medications?

I wonder how many have noticed that the apartment's entry door sometimes opened and closed on the right side and sometimes on the left side... I think that it was switched to avoid a problem of colliding with the furniture by the door when multiple actors came in through the door at the same time... Does anyone have a better explanation for the switch???
