I’m young and hope to live in Japan when I’m older. I recently started studying Japanese, everyone tells me it’s not worth it. “Learn a different language!” “Japan is very different!” “You won’t like it there!” . I’m from Texas, USA, I know it’ll be a big change and I’m preparing myself for it. I have almost no one supporting me, so at that it’s even more difficult. I understand how hard living in a foreign country is, especially in which ppl speak a different language from your mother tongue. I love your earrings! Super cute! *-* Also, protip from someone who's also lived in Japan, the pre-cooked rice you can buy at supermarkets and then microwave is actually quite decent if you're in a hurry (or if you don't have a rice cooker). I used to get that and premade curry and just microwave my dinners when I was in a hurry. Also, the pasta sauces, if you haven't discovered them yet! Or if you feel like actually cooking, there's like a chicken seasoning you can use (can't remember the name, but I think the packaging was red). Just dip pieces of chicken in it, fry with a little bit of oil and eat with rice. Super easy and yummy!

I was homesick when I went to Japan and I'm homesick being back in the US as well. It passes :)
Seems like a good thing, to be a grown up, and it is so different from my country as well. Usually if you are a student most people live in a dorm or apartments and clean and cook for them selfs as well.

I'm in U.S as an international student. But now is so bored. So I know how do you feel coz first I came, I was always worried"Oh gosh, can I speak English more better after this experience?" and during winter/summer break, I was dipressed, I wasn't not spontaneous,so nobody invited me, I didn't ask somebody to hangout. It is still same but I think my environment and English is kind of better. So Keep working hard, I support you!

MissHanake Oh. I've wondered how that would work. I always thought you would have to get some certain certificate to teach English to students(not in school, like a tutor).
It's just like your own country I guess; they just have to check if your appropriate for the job, and in her case she's an ex Oxford student and the role has been passed on. What is important is that your a native speaker, and would serve you well if your good with grammar too. Certificates aren't really necessary unless you want to work full time and stay a year as a resident, and in that instance you need a 3-4 yr degree as an immigration requirement:)

I must say, I'm extremely envious of your situation! I moved to Japan two years ago, to the middle of nowhere. A major "hillbilly" prefecture, if you will. I came with no knowledge of Japanese. Needless to say it's been a challenging two years. the first month was simply adapting to the drastically different lifestyle and diet and being exhausted everyday. After that I was lucky enough to find a job teaching English at a kindergarten however I was paired up with another foreigner who was incredibly racist and basically made my life a living hell. I left the job in favor of attempting to learn Japanese and find a "normal" job. Little did I know, quite possibly one of the worst places to learn Japanese is in Japan. there are basically zero language learning resources in my entire prefecture, I have to take a 2 hour train ride simply to find a language school... and unfortunately that language school specializes in this kind of "touristy" language learning and is not for serious studying.
Attempting to learn Japanese from the locals has been fruitless as there is a very strong dialect in the prefecture I'm from and it's basically a different language from standard Japanese. Add to this the daily dirty looks I get and the general discrimination when it comes to jobs and government offices (I.E. license center, been trying to convert my American license for six months, fail the test every time for made up reasons) and my experience with Japan has been far from what I expected. On top of all this I have no friends here in Japan, and no real family back in America for support.
Despite all this, there are still things I deeply love about Japan that I don't think you can find anywhere else. The attention to detail and care put in to things that westerners don't even think about still astounds me on a daily basis.
My conclusion is that in one or two generations all of Japan will be a wonderful place. The youth of Japan is very open-minded and accepting and kind-hearted. Unfortunately the older folks carry a lot of baggage and are unwilling to let It go. I feel like I came to Japan fifty years too soon 😂

Cam that’s so sad if you’re still trying I recommend searching language groups on discord. Hellotalk and italki are good too. If you look for pdf versions of Japanese learning books on reddit you should be able to learn. Bunpo is a good app too 😊
@@Nmohamed44 thanks for the recommendation! I am using HelloTalk, it's quite good. The nearby feature is cool for finding local English speakers too :)
Other than that, I use Drops and sometimes bunpo and a few kanji apps. I am learning, albeit slowly
I think the hardest part is having no friend. It is difficult to release your stress without anyone close around. Is there any way you could move to some bigger cities? It's way easier to find international communities and jp ppl who are open to foreigners. The app "Meetup" works to find those communities in big cities. Please take care

冷凍保存が出来る料理を時間がある時に沢山作っておいたら、毎日料理しなくて良いから少し楽になるかも…です♪
ご飯もたくさん炊いて、小分にして冷凍庫保存。パンでも野菜でもお肉やカレーや…冷凍活用すれば週に１～２回の料理で済みます。
レンジでチン！便利な物をフル活用しながら工夫したら、もう少し余裕が出来るかもしれない。
忙しいのにお味噌汁作ったりしてとても頑張り屋さんですが、いくら自立と言っても手を抜く生活を学べばもっとしたい事が出来るようになるかも…

ご自分で日本語字幕作ってらっしゃるんなら本当に素晴らしいですね。外国人の方のミスで多い助詞の使い方が完璧だし、感嘆詞とか、会話を埋める「なんか」とかの使い方も完璧。

I'm exchange student from Japan in USA, too. I know how you feel. I'm getting to used to USA. But you know, everything is so different between Japan and USA. I don't speak English well, also listen. So sometimes I feel like alone. There's no body who really and deeply understands me. I just have to keep trying for everything. It's so hard more than everyone think. But I hope I'll be more stronger person more than before I came here. I really hope you have greatest memories in Japan.

日本という国はイギリス人から見てかなり特殊で風変わりな国だから慣れないのは当然だよね〜。
不可解な事が多いと思ったら、まず日本の歴史を学んで見ると良いよ。
日本では掃除はとても大事。掃除は精神修養の一つで仏教的な教えでもある。これも日本の歴史を学べば理解出来るよ。
それからいつも励まされる思いです。頑張っているなーって
I went to Japan from London, then after 5-6 months my mom brought me back to America and I have never regretted anything more. It was rather unavoidable because my mental health wasn't great at the time, and I'm getting stronger here and I'm determined to make it back, but I'm hella poor and my mother (the woman manipulating the family) won't help me get back. ㅠ_ㅠ
I want to go to TUJ, because it's a good school, they have a psychologist for dealing with the problems I had when I first went to Japan, and it's a good way to start my forever life there.

最近のお気に入りのレシピ。豚肉を焼いてオニオンも焼いて、最後にキムチを入れてできあがり。もちろんガーリックやキャベツを入れてもおいしいよ。これがご飯によく合う。ちょっと多めに作ったら２日分の夕食ができるよ。
Id recommend learning to cook stir fry dishes first..pretty straight forward and pretty easy to make whether you are a vegetarian or not...there are tons of sauces and flavors available at the supermarket. Good to hear you are doing well!
私も帰国生で日本に帰ってきた時は慣れなくてすごく辛かったです。
同様に、海外へ渡航した時も慣れずに辛い思いをしました。
初めて触れる文化とか体験することとかが多くて大変かもしれませんがそれも楽しみながら頑張ってください☺︎
in about a year you'll be like "what was it i found hard again??" haha before you notice you'll get used to life there.
even if you don't fully assimilate, you'll still get used to it ^_^
