On this version even if you get the Sprite to join first Gaia's Navel the Haunted Forest enemies can still kill you in 1 hit AT LV 10 WITH the Gaia's Navel armors equipped on both of them. But in order for the Spirit to join AFTER the Girl party member you HAVE to go to the Haunter Forest first and can't even BUY the Gaia's navel armors until you do.
