I did test new necro in sandbox and fallen in sandbox: -I tested how well he would do against 1 frost necromancer -and how well he does against frost spirit (note: both of those tests were done with dj and commander placed down to support necro) frost necromancer lost OVER HALF OF HIS HEALTH just to skeleton knights ALONE. He was just shredded in a few seconds Frost Spirit leaked with 28k hp (keep in mind that I got bad rng with him spawning frost heros). Keep in mind Frost Spirit's health in sandbox mode is 100k. and in fallen mode this thing was just a monster. Every enemy was being shredded by the skeletons, and I won easily. Keep in mind that my loadout was: -cowboy -dj -commander -ranger -necro Necro making up for lack of a second dps tower shows that people who say that the tower was nerfed don't know how to use it, if paired with support necro just becomes a skeleton factory with dps comparable to accelerator.
Slight tangent but I believe the current necromancer is what units of the tower defense genre should strive to be. Underwhelming normally but becomes extremely strong once you focus on playing their niche. It keeps the game balanced, allows for great variety in terms of strategy and keeps the meta refreshing. The game already has its fair share of “safe picks” that are basically just powerful stat sticks with minor gimmicks like the minigunner, gmini, accel, turret etc… which are very straightforward to use with little variations. While they can provide your gameplay with some degree of consistency, over-saturating the game with this type of towers can easily make it stale and become a breeding ground for powercreep (See: every single one of the anime “tower defense” games)

Necromancer already was my favorite tower, even when people kept saying he was mediocre, i dont care, he's the tower of my dreams, and now that he got buffed?? That's even better to me
As a necromancer main, i assume it is so better when they removed the mechanic of unit dying after using skill, now skele are stackable, at the old time it is so scary when a missclick makes your horde of skeleton have all heads poped up
personally, i think the attacks before max should ricochet instead of pierce.. it would fix the base tower and honestly.. for a *magic* tower.. it would fit
Don’t forget to add a firework technician for even more DPS (if it applies to necro that is) and if it does than the early levels will be a lot better cause of the slow attack and pierce, that could be a ton of fireworks

actually necro is released in halloween 2023 event aka Lunar Overture, it was supposed to be obtained in the last level of the battle pass but they make it to be obtainable every October in each year, however the devs forgot to write a code for that so it stayed like till now, and became a hardcore tower
@CORSOBLOX as much as I want to agree with you that this rework is a huge buff for necromancer that can surpass gatling gun in dps. But there is one problem, and that is some TDS players would usually prefer to play solo(including me). Plus, like you said, necromancer needed a specific conditions, like needed all of the buff from the support towers, can only work on some maps, and prob some players does not know how to use rework necromancer properly. beside it would be too complicated for most that would rather make it simple.

Sorry Corso, you are not convincing me that a Necromancer is reaching 1.3k DPS with max support, as I believe the math is extremely flawed. The reason for my suspicion is: 1. The support is supposed to give the tower a 2.1x damage boost, but ONLY the tower and not the summons. This means that your calculation on the increase in DPS from support is severely flawed as the tower itself would receive an additional 110 DPS, and the summons would respawn twice as fast, which means it is NOT double buffed like, for example, bleed damage. In addition, while this seems good for stacking units, but if we're talking realistically, by the time the 2nd wave of units come (I'll talk about this later) the first wave except the executioner skeleton would most likely be gone already as it takes on average a whopping 13x4 (+spawn time) = roughly 60 seconds to spawn the first wave, or 30 seconds with support. tl;dr: The tower would only hypothetically reach 800 DPS with full support (if we follow the given calculation, which I'll also critique later), and realistically much less as it takes so long to stack skeletons that they would probably died of collision except the executioner skeleton by the time you are able to spawn the second wave. 2. The calculation for the combined DPS in the first place looks extremely wrong. Here's the thing, the whole mumbo jumbo after the regular dps is supposed to be the DPS calculation for the skeletons, but it has so many flaws that I can pick from that make it extremely unrealistic. Some examples include: - A bug where it only deals 30 single target DPS rather than 45 - Sword skeletons even getting more than 1 hit in before dying, less 4 hits. - Animation jank for graveyard spawning, making it action around 1.5s instead of 0.8 - Account for only 3 instances of soul meter filling, which is only enough to fill max grave for 6 instead of the 9 graves. In reality you will actually need to fill it at least 3.5 to 4 times (The new upgrade system is confusing as hell, and it might be even worse than this). Even if we take out all the jank, the gravestones spawns would only realistically contribute an additional 200 DPS, and less if we also take into account that the sword skeletons are flimsy as hell. Hence, if we are talking about the best possible scenario, the new necromancer would only realistically have around 300-ish DPS, and 600 with support. Given how it's 50% more expensive and how it's stupidly unreliable at dealing with crowds on its own now, I do not warrant this rework as a buff whatsoever, despite me being a long time Necromancer enjoyer. It was powerful as a crowd control option, and its ability to actively spawn graves at rapid pace allows the tower to be placed near the frontline for the full use of its ability, and made it fun to use Now it just feels like an awkward mix of ranger and crook boss that is too reliant on its unit to warrant reliable use cases. The reason you saw him succeeding in PW2 is because that map is a spawner heaven and half of the damage is carried by Brawlers.
then good luck trying to debunk the argument that people managed to do quad pw2 with just necromancer nd supports you are basically just trying to justify your skill issue. there is absolutly no way one necro does only 600 dps. Every skeleton knight has 150 dps. And we are not even considering collision damage. while exe skeleton has 166 dps. also add hallow guards on top. Its just impossible that dps is this low. You need to test the tower in an actual fallen match to tell if it is good. Because I did and it absolutly nuked all the tanky enemies. Also I did check how it does against frost spirit in sandbox. Frost Spirit in sandbox has 100k hp, and Necromancer leaked him with 28k hp. So Necromancer did over 72k damage to the Frost Spirit. Keep in mind that Frost Spirit heals himself and can spawn Frost Heros, with better rng necromancer would be able to beat him. I have a feeling that you are just coping because the tower isn't completly braindead like accel back in its prime and actually requires brain to use. No meter doesn't refill that slowly, I sometimesl eave Necromancer alone for like a few seconds and he already has 9 max grave ready to go. No it doesn't do 300 dps in best case scenario, and the wiki doesn't mention any bugs about necromancer doing less dps than he should also remember that you can place 3 of them per player.

Again my only problem i have is the soul metter because the situation I had was enemies dying way too fast and it wasn't able to charge up its sole meter and then when there was enemies for it to charge up the entire stack would die
I don't really like how the ones behind Necromancer rework is just really thinks that it is something unique that tower gets better with supports and in numbers with other players... Literally every tower, for example turret, will perform "extremely good" in quad when there is 12 turrets under buffs from DJ, Commander and Mercenary Base, the same goes for Accelerator, Pursuit, Engineer, etc-etc-etc. Game is not only about playing in team after all

You do not always do the same damage, the beam damage doubles on single target it doesnt triple, unless that was a bug from when i tested, because necro was only dealing 30 per tick of damage, also i dont think stacking skeletons is reliable or a good idea, you spawn skeletons too slow to reliably stack them, the only skeleton that you MIGHT stack are executioner skeletons, but even before the rework you could get executioners quickly, at this point you just get slightly more consistent amounts, and even then you dont get executioner skeletons from one set of graves, you need to get 2 sets of graves and wait for them to reach level 3 graves, which just takes a long time, plus the crowd control is just worse now, old max necro could hit i believe 7 enemies, which was extremely useful, and now that is only 3

The main tower could do 20 damage every 0.3 seconds. And it could attack 7 enemies at once. WITHOUT BUFFS. Dealing 466dps. But WITH all tower buffs. It would deal 886dps. Now only dealing 37 something dps at max level, It lost all its crowd control. And it is now way less reliable
It's my personal opinion, but the real problem with the Necromancer is its initial performance. Due to the nature of the tower, its performance is almost unusable unless you're at the maximum level, but the price is also too burdensome. It's similar in price to Accelerator, but I think its performance is also disappointing. That's why I use a faster attack speed. ,I really think that attack power needs to be increased. This is my personal opinion.

Necromancer has 36 range at max level with DJ, which i found crazy, it can basically cover the entire U-Turn map (my favorite)

Basically Extreme late game + sub dps ramped to 2nd dps option.
Freezer got some small changes, they were pretty nice.
You forgot that on max level, the necromancer's beam can apply on one enemy if there arent enough enemies on its range

The reason you saw him succeeding in PW2 is because that map is a spawner heaven and half of the damage is carried by Brawlers.

you are basically just trying to justify your skill issue.
there is absolutly no way one necro does only 600 dps. Every skeleton knight has 150 dps. And we are not even considering collision damage. while exe skeleton has 166 dps. also add hallow guards on top. Its just impossible that dps is this low. You need to test the tower in an actual fallen match to tell if it is good. Because I did and it absolutly nuked all the tanky enemies.
Also I did check how it does against frost spirit in sandbox. Frost Spirit in sandbox has 100k hp, and Necromancer leaked him with 28k hp. So Necromancer did over 72k damage to the Frost Spirit. Keep in mind that Frost Spirit heals himself and can spawn Frost Heros, with better rng necromancer would be able to beat him.
I have a feeling that you are just coping because the tower isn't completly braindead like accel back in its prime and actually requires brain to use. No meter doesn't refill that slowly, I sometimesl eave Necromancer alone for like a few seconds and he already has 9 max grave ready to go. No it doesn't do 300 dps in best case scenario, and the wiki doesn't mention any bugs about necromancer doing less dps than he should
also remember that you can place 3 of them per player.

I don't really like how the ones behind Necromancer rework is just really thinks that it is something unique that tower gets better with supports and in numbers with other players... Literally every tower, for example turret, will perform "extremely good" in quad when there is 12 turrets under buffs from DJ, Commander and Mercenary Base, the same goes for Accelerator, Pursuit, Engineer, etc-etc-etc. Game is not only about playing in team after all

They made necro which before the patch was a decently okay-ish tower that was just pop in there and occasionally summon funny skeletons
To a tower that has a purpose and a utility niche that is actually really powerful if done right.
The people that are complaining are literally just whining cause the buff doesn't make necro deal 500000 dps without earning it cause everyone was so used to just spamming accel engi with cta and dj spam that the idea of having a tower that's unique and has a really interesting way of providing support is considered garbage
It's a sub dps that provides the utility of having summons its range is literally the size of most maps with support meaning its Graves can be used as a backup just incase feature for certain situations and you could also just stack the summons up to make them extremely powerful
I personally enjoy the way they tackled this buff because it made necro more special as a tower and not just another glorified dps junky

You do not always do the same damage, the beam damage doubles on single target it doesnt triple, unless that was a bug from when i tested, because necro was only dealing 30 per tick of damage, also i dont think stacking skeletons is reliable or a good idea, you spawn skeletons too slow to reliably stack them, the only skeleton that you MIGHT stack are executioner skeletons, but even before the rework you could get executioners quickly, at this point you just get slightly more consistent amounts, and even then you dont get executioner skeletons from one set of graves, you need to get 2 sets of graves and wait for them to reach level 3 graves, which just takes a long time, plus the crowd control is just worse now, old max necro could hit i believe 7 enemies, which was extremely useful, and now that is only 3

Necro was thw first event tower i got and im so pround of it
The main tower could do 20 damage every 0.3 seconds. And it could attack 7 enemies at once. WITHOUT BUFFS. Dealing 466dps. But WITH all tower buffs. It would deal 886dps. Now only dealing 37 something dps at max level, It lost all its crowd control. And it is now way less reliable

It's my personal opinion, but the real problem with the Necromancer is its initial performance. Due to the nature of the tower, its performance is almost unusable unless you're at the maximum level, but the price is also too burdensome. It's similar in price to Accelerator, but I think its performance is also disappointing. That's why I use a faster attack speed. ,I really think that attack power needs to be increased. This is my personal opinion.
