But fuck I suck at macroing so it fits to my strategy, when I play this raid+fortress it happens that I dont get the 700 wood in time so I try to get 100-200 wood first before slitting vills on food/gold.
it is not a big difference, really. A villager gathers 0,5 wood per second and 0,6 coin per second. I has more to do with the resources you have. If you research hunting dogs you have 50 coin left from the 100 starting coin. So it is quicker to gather 75 coin and sell it for wood, than to gather 100 more wood. If you don't have a coin start you might not be able to go for a market because it will slow your age up a lot (you will have to spend more time gathering resources). You might have free coin treasures around your base or find a good treasure and then you adapt on what you will gather.

Why is it better for him in the first minute to gather coin then convert 125g into 100 wood instead of gathering wood directly ?
Coin is collected faster than wood, also, he needed to age asap, If he collected 100w It would slow down him
