Yup. The monsters they showed in the storytelling scene were creatures they actually fought in the campaign. Maybe with the exception of Scanlan's of course. 😅
Grog's and Keyleth's "weirdest kills" We're both during the Kraghammer/K'Varn arc, which took place before the Briarwood arc. That one they won't adapt for...reasons. Although Beholders and Illithid are both unique properties of Wizards of the Coast and not homebrew or mythical monsters, so they'd need to pay for them too, I believe.
when you think about the enormous increase in sells for Wizard of the Coast > because of critical role < they really should make a exception and allow them to use names like Beholders, Illithid, Durogar and the iconic vecna

CR probably doesn't want to double check with WotC every time they or a third party company wants to make CR stuff. But I can see them making an exception for Vecna specifically, at least in later seasons. Right now they are going with the "Whispered One." Which is what they used in the first Tal'Dorei book.

My heart was singing for the Vax and Kiki moments. They were my OTP in Campaign 1, and it makes me happy to see it developing all over again. Also, feral Kiki snarling and SCARING that doggo, making it WHIMPER. I do love that she’s been given her moments of truly being the GOAT of Vox Machina, especially with her Daylight moment in the previous episode.
During the Traven keeper build few years back they had some animators on the show. One of them hates drawing horses but attempted to do one on screen half way through gave up and made one that looked like the purple tailed horse scan poly morphed into. I lost it when they showed it on screen. Easter eggs run deep in these episodes.
The Rakshasa was Vax, Kiki, Orion, Kash and...nat 1 Wheaton, can't remember the character name, in the slayer's take, so we're probably not going to got that arc.
@@Kasino80 I mean that the fact that they showed Vax already having taken out the rakshasa after it swore to come after him might mean we get a very specific scene that happened much later than the Slayer's Take. Trying to be super vague, because that would be a pretty rough twist to spoil for people if they chose to do it. But if they want to get the mileage out of a specific NPC's arc, it would be a shame to miss out on it.

They also didn't have a representative for Pike since she was already gone before the Briarwoods appeared at the dinner (she was helping rebuild the temple in Vasselheim). They instead had a body resembling Tiberius, since he was present for the fight with the Briarwoods in Imon.
There was at least one three-jawed monster in Campaign 2. Matt likes that three-jawed horror image, usually accompanied by a high-pitched horror trill. (which makes Travis freak out every time)

Those wolf creatures are actually a reference to the draington brigade one-shot they were created by a meteor mutation but they reskinned them for some of Delilah’s experiments
And I believe Marisha was the first one that figured out that it was their lookalikes hanging from the branches, so it's neat to hear Keyleth have that final line of the episode!

Keyleth and Grog’s “best kills” are both from the first stream arc when they’re in the Underdark. In fact, they’re from the same fight. But, since those moments didn’t happen in the show canon (because of a certain dragonborn we don’t mention), they decided to give Critters a couple easter eggs.

i think this episode showed, that we wont see the kraghammer arc or the slayers take arc. because we saw keyleth kill the durugar king here, which she did when they originally went to rescue kima (sorry guys i dont think we will see a k'varn fight). then im pretty sure that was vax killing the hotis (the rakshasa) so we probably wont see the tasks that got them into the slayers take. at least not the original way they did it. cause i assume we will still see zahra and kash at some point, so it probably wont be the same slayers take arc.
For the creatures, it reminded a little of the Chimera template where you can add other creatures to it. It seem to have wolf like face like the demigorgaan from stranger things and the scorpion tails as well.
You're not wrong about that 3 jaw thing being in campaign 2. In that instance, they weren't wolves, but the Sahuagin (water-creature-people) that attacked the Nein after the peace talks before Traveller con I believe were described as having jaws like that.
Forgot to mention that I find how they chose Scanlan to be the one to study the book out of all of Vox Machina to be pretty clever. This is because that fact will set something up for another major arc. 😉

Hey Dustin question, what's your opinion on them not putting tiberius in these? With what happened in the show and reality I'd understand but alot of things happened because of tiberius especially when in the future when he sacrificed himself in the battle with the white dragon
The problem with that is that Orion holds rights to Tiberius. I believe that was actually an issue that they had to deal with legally with the Vox Machina Origins comics, though I could be mistaken?

Polymorph only transforms into beasts. True polymorph, which is a max lvl spell, can do things other than beasts (aka animals). But, seeming doesn't make you go that big or small... so maybe it's a combo move for the animation?

The way it’s done with the huge unicorn seahorse thing definitely feels like some pretty direct lampshading for the Scanbo shenanigans
I see a lot of Critters who haven't seen Campaign 1 and non-Critters asking what's going on with Percy. My tip is to pause the scene in Episode 3 where they show Percy's shadow. Then add it with what you see in the later episodes (Episode 6 particularly). From there you'll be able to figure it out if you add it all up. 🙂
@@haventakloo Observant only boosts you _passive_ perception. In the case of Perception Skill they should be about equal (or Keyleth should be higher because Vex shouldn't have Expertise yet)
percy's punisher phase is cool and all but in terms of overall usefulness the green elf has the most useful skills. like one shoots guns, another has bows, another daggers, another a axe, a healer and a horny little guy. not a lot of firepower....

Some of my favorite moments of Keyleth are her turning into that saber-tooth tiger. Especially since most of her magic is plant based.

That may very well have been Scanlan lying to freak them out. Or it was a deep cut only for them to reference and giggle at.
To be fair the Legend of Vox Machina started off as a one-shot Kickstarter that grew into the amazing series we see now.

I see a lot of Critters who haven't seen Campaign 1 and non-Critters asking what's going on with Percy. My tip is to pause the scene in Episode 3 where they show Percy's shadow. Then add it with what you see in the later episodes (Episode 6 particularly). From there you'll be able to figure it out if you add it all up. 🙂

@@haventakloo Observant only boosts you _passive_ perception. In the case of Perception Skill they should be about equal (or Keyleth should be higher because Vex shouldn't have Expertise yet)
percy's punisher phase is cool and all but in terms of overall usefulness the green elf has the most useful skills. like one shoots guns, another has bows, another daggers, another a axe, a healer and a horny little guy. not a lot of firepower....
