I studied the Cantos under Donald Davie at Vanderbilt. Davie said he never went visit Pound in St Elaibeths "out of respect." Now I more fully undertand that
if you only listen to third rate professors about what they think of Pound and their view of his views, you would forget he was a human being who felt he had made a grave error, but must have seemed utterly conflicted about not knowing exactly what he had done wrong. Combine that with age, and I am sure that Pound must have felt entirely crushed for the rest of his life.
Yeah, not sure about third rate professors, but who the hell would need to sentimentalize Pound? Is this what his poetics end up as, a bunch of TH-cam fanboys turning Pound into a victimized and put upon soul? Do you need kleenex when you are reading The Cantos?
I believe he's understating the case, because he speaks generally in a somewhat subdued, moderate manner - I took him to be referring far-right extremists, i.e., Fascists, Neo-Nazis, etc., coming to lionize Pound for his deranged war-time broadcasts. I assume you understand what is 'wrong' with them and that. Btw, I wonder if when he said 'Southern integrationists' he intended to say "segregationists"?
I tried to read Pound and I couldn't understand one fucking line. I think he was a fraud of some sort? Next to him TS Eliot is as clear as furniture assembly directions. Though he too was a poser, I suspect.

What on earth is wrong with the political right wing? You make a strong and inaccurate assumption, Sir.

Bramble Bop. You’re admitting you are subliterate.
