Dark and Lovely 396 Luminous Blonde | DETAILED Tutorial and Review

I dyed my hair and eyebrows and rattail using the #FadeResist dye from Dark and Lovely.
Details:
Color- Luminous Blonde 390 (TWO boxes)
Hair-previously dyed honey blonde Aug 2020, dyed blonde Oct 2019
Hair Type- 3c/4a, low porosity, medium density
I left the dye on for approximately 50 minutes after application was completed.
My color is most similar to the Dark and Lovely 384 which is a more yellow tone.

I used the same box in the same color and permed my hair the same day and had absolutely no damage and it turned out beautifully. this dye is harmless and works amazingly

I did the exact same thing to but I added semi permanent dye aswell and I love it 🥰 I was expecting to see inches of my hair melting off 😭

use blue shampoo to cancel orange tones. purple cancels out yellow.

Yes! Your orange will turn ashy from a blue toner and shampoo. Then it will be yellow enough to just use purple shampoo. Some people bleach again when you just need toner.

Wow...I cannot believe that the dark parts of your hair lifted. I guess when I have used boxed dyes on dark hair, I was too impatient and did not leave it on long enough because I never got lift.

Hello Nadia, should I base my scalp with some Vaseline or grease before? Im scared it will burn. Also do you have to wash with purple shampoo and conditioner? Or can you just wash with the stuff that comes in the box

From box dye! It should work if your hair takes too dye well

What happens if you leave the conditioner in without washing at all?
I’m not sure. It may result in oversaturated/overmoisturized hair or a protein-overload. I always follow instructions for which products to leave in and wash out.

Squeezing the dye through each loc until the loc is fully saturated gets the best results. You may have to let the dye sit longer or do it in 2 sessions a couple weeks a part to get them as light as you want!

If your hair cones out orange you're supposed to use a blue shampoo. If it's yellow, then use a purple shampoo.

Every head of hair will garner different results, but your hair will probably look how mine looked before I washed it out--just a tad bit more yellow
Its so beautiful. I have indian hair dreadlocks my hair was previously red did this colour 2days ago did not get full coverage a bit red still my fault am scared of hair damage so i just used 1packet of booster in 2 bottle of dyes but although am scared i bought 2 boxes again to try and fix up the patches am still scared but will take my chances once more in a couple or so if days hmm...hope it turns out well witjout any hair damage after a while because thats when the damages really shows up. Just keep it moisturise often ok. It really suits you. You flam glam glow girl.

@@april620 hello it turned out quiet ok. I did not use any of the booster this time and i got quite a golden brown to light blonde colour. Am wearing it for now its turn heads but i can't tell if the heads turning is a 🙄one or 😀one or a😘one but my daughter sayd its looking good and her feedback means alot to me. But personally i think i will go back to the red in a couple of Months and mantain that colour for awhile again i sometimes add an orange together with the red and i get a really nice colour. The red makes my hair looks healthy and i like that this colour makes it looks to dry and a bit damage after all the booster packet is bleach and that could be very damaging to anyone hair. Anyways hope you are enjoying your colour and maybe next time you can give the red a chance and see how you like it. Bye keep good and safe. Have a lovely afternoon.

There are diff ones, but its toning shampoo. John Freida has a good one & I like Pravana because I love their hair color

Leave it for a little bit longer. Some people’s hair doesn’t take as well to color as others. You may need to try again in a week or two.
Mines set for almost an hour n half before it started to turn blonde. It lightened this pretty brown within the first 40
Same happened to me, did it yesterday, left an hour and a half and it lighted to orange so I gave up. Lol have to fix it today. I'll probably just cover it back brown.

I’m not sure. If I were you, I would try a box dye that was advertised with someone with your hair texture on the box.
Honestly, I don't see why not?? I use Clairol, L'OReal, RedKen, etc. hair dye and I have fine curly hair...You could always call the company and ask but I really don't see why you couldn't--it's color

Yup. No bleach! I only used what was provided in the box.
It's mostly color but the booster packet is powder bleach, so it you're scared you could skip adding it in but it won't get as light.
Key tips are as follow:
Work on dirty hair ( natural oils protect your scalp)
T16 is for orange brass T14 is for yellow to white tone
Protect your clothes choose clothes you don’t mind getting messed up permanently
Protect your eyes, for head and ears with vaseline or base protectant
Please don’t do your roots right away the heat from your scalp causes it to develop faster causing hot roots

It works on natural dark hair as long as you do not have black dye on your hair if your hair was previously tinted with black hair dye it may need a more powerful lifting agent

It was called Generic conditioning shampoo. I got it from Sally’s but they sell purple shampoo at regular beauty supply stores too

While I was out shopping today. (2-15-2022) I noticed a blk children's book in a store. The title was HAIR LOVE. I picked it up and read a little. The story was about a young black couple maybe in their thirties. With a young daughter about five or six years old. The father was helping his child style her hair. He seemed to be encouraging her to go with an afro type of style. How cute. But at the end of the book there was a depiction of the whole family together. The mother had her hair strait and dyed yellow.
I ask myself two very necessary questions. First why do so many blk women hate their natural African selves that much? Not many will wear nature hair for even 7 days out of the year. Second why would the creator of this book just insist on depicting the mother in this way? Even ending the book in that manner. 👨🏾🤝👨🏼

Dark.and Lovely needs yo change it's name to Fair and Lovely, because the image is not the same.
I think it’s called Dark & Lovely to represent Black women in general. They probably could use more dark skin women in their branding, but most of the color boxes I’ve seen have a variety of shades of black women on them. That doesn’t have anything to do with my video though 😂

Yes - I'm aware of that. The only thing is that I'm seeing a lot of images with the much lighter "Black" women with blonde hair being pushed, and it's coming across like it's a whitewashing / colourist / self-hating agenda.

@@NadiaEatmon I agree--It looks brassy, almost orange. It does need a toner. Have to be careful, too even if you like the 'color' because if you use certain products with that color which isn't toned, it can turn your hair green...

Ahhh yes--I just remembered from the beginning of your video that you had several different colors already dyed in your hair! So all things considered, it did come out well!
And I don't know if you know this already, but the hair at our scalp takes LESS time to process than the rest of our head bc of the natural heat radiating from our scalp; when we dye our hair & get lighter roots, it's called HOT ROOTS. In order to stop that, you should start adding color about an inch away from your scalp & then add color to your scalp at the final like 10-15mins of hair coloring. I learned over the years since high school when I dyed my hair at home before paying for professional service & they told me that's what it's called! Just a tip if anyone ever has that :-)
