This still gives me goosebumps while listening to it. I never properly saw the ending as a child since I only get to play quite few times of it. When I became a teenagers, I played Half Life and finished it and damn sure it is great! The ending worked me to finish Half Life 2 and episodes of it. Now, I wait for Half Life 3 to continue Freeman's story.

Which is why I love HL1's Ost, it feels like a mix of many various genres (like drums and riffs having this downtempo style), sort of similar to IDM which is a versatile mix of genres/styles put together
What I absolutely love about this track is that it feels like an action sequence, not an ending track. It feels like it's just the beginning of something instead of the end. Like we stepped into some crazy stuff and it's far from over.
I always found this to be such an odd choice for the closing theme. Like you just talked to G-Man and accepted his offer on a mysterious train ride... and now everyone is dancing to the sound of 90s club music?

It really gives you feel that you completed the game, you defeated milions of aliens and United States Marine Corps HECU. The HL2 remix gives you feel, that this is an end, but still, not yet an end.
Hearing this after finally beating the game was satisfying. Though I knew about this song for a while, it hitted different once finishing this beautiful title
Half Life has reached 15 years when this video was uploaded. It is 20 years already as of right now. And a game that was so inspiring and carrying forward has at the very least several hundret thousand people who still actively want it to continue, despite such time has passed, judging by the views. A masterful product is not prefered over everyday online game industry. And it may be more profitable, sure. But it really makes me see a parallel here. Just like elder people see younger generation switch from books to computers, same way from a great and deep product we change our attention to tv shows that never end and loses its depth quite often. By that I also mean such games as DOTA, CS GO and others that just don't need anything but fancy looks for people to be intrigued. Gordon is an image of such a meaningful character that the game speaks for him. And I am afraid we will see these much more rarely now

You just defeated the final boss. There is a huge explosion, and you are thrown against a wall, blacking out. You hear Alyx yelling. "GORDON! GORDON! WAKE UP!" Slowly, the sound of alarms fades in, as you see a blurry vision of the world around you. Debris is falling. Fire is shooting out everywhere, and the place is rumbling. "Gordon, your alive! Thank god... But the whole place is coming down, and the door is sealed shut. I can't get the door open..." Gordon slowly reaches for his glasses, and puts them on, causing your vision to get clear again. Your inventory is empty. You have no guns. The Gravity Gun is broken from the final boss's last attack, which it performed in a last ditch attempt to kill you. It all seems hopeless, as you see the crude metal door blocking your path up ahead. Then you see it. A single red crowbar laying a few feet from you. Slowly, Gordon rises to his feet, picking up the crowbar... and this music begins playing, as you regain full control. Cue one final escape sequence as Gordon and Alyx fight their way through scrambling enemy forces, armed with nothing but Gordon's crowbar, and Alyx's gun, this theme playing through the entire sequence. If this happened at the end of Half-Life 3, that would be amazing.
Just finished Black Mesa and it was so peak I had to come to this. Black Mesa is one of the best remakes I've ever played made by fans for the fans and supported by Valve. I love Half-Life.

What I absolutely love about this track is that it feels like an action sequence, not an ending track. It feels like it's just the beginning of something instead of the end. Like we stepped into some crazy stuff and it's far from over.
I always found this to be such an odd choice for the closing theme. Like you just talked to G-Man and accepted his offer on a mysterious train ride... and now everyone is dancing to the sound of 90s club music?

It really gives you feel that you completed the game, you defeated milions of aliens and United States Marine Corps HECU. The HL2 remix gives you feel, that this is an end, but still, not yet an end.
Hearing this after finally beating the game was satisfying. Though I knew about this song for a while, it hitted different once finishing this beautiful title
Half Life has reached 15 years when this video was uploaded.
It is 20 years already as of right now.
And a game that was so inspiring and carrying forward has at the very least several hundret thousand people who still actively want it to continue, despite such time has passed, judging by the views.
A masterful product is not prefered over everyday online game industry. And it may be more profitable, sure.
But it really makes me see a parallel here. Just like elder people see younger generation switch from books to computers, same way from a great and deep product we change our attention to tv shows that never end and loses its depth quite often. By that I also mean such games as DOTA, CS GO and others that just don't need anything but fancy looks for people to be intrigued.
Gordon is an image of such a meaningful character that the game speaks for him. And I am afraid we will see these much more rarely now

You just defeated the final boss. There is a huge explosion, and you are thrown against a wall, blacking out. You hear Alyx yelling. "GORDON! GORDON! WAKE UP!" Slowly, the sound of alarms fades in, as you see a blurry vision of the world around you. Debris is falling. Fire is shooting out everywhere, and the place is rumbling.
"Gordon, your alive! Thank god... But the whole place is coming down, and the door is sealed shut. I can't get the door open..."
Gordon slowly reaches for his glasses, and puts them on, causing your vision to get clear again. Your inventory is empty. You have no guns. The Gravity Gun is broken from the final boss's last attack, which it performed in a last ditch attempt to kill you. It all seems hopeless, as you see the crude metal door blocking your path up ahead. Then you see it.
A single red crowbar laying a few feet from you. Slowly, Gordon rises to his feet, picking up the crowbar... and this music begins playing, as you regain full control. Cue one final escape sequence as Gordon and Alyx fight their way through scrambling enemy forces, armed with nothing but Gordon's crowbar, and Alyx's gun, this theme playing through the entire sequence. If this happened at the end of Half-Life 3, that would be amazing.

Just finished Black Mesa and it was so peak I had to come to this. Black Mesa is one of the best remakes I've ever played made by fans for the fans and supported by Valve. I love Half-Life.
