I'm brush painting one of these older Quickbuilds (it's all yellow - might be a McLaren or something) in Gulf racing colours eg eggshell blue + orange. Looks good and unique. Also I glued it all together.
@@jonboy4601 I think I need to start using an airbrush on my other Airfix Quickbuilds using metallic paints. I've got Spitfires, Messerschmitts, Mustangs, Harrier Jump Jets and they could all benefit from a fancy paint job :-)
@@Ronno4691 Yeah I've been watching all the videos on TH-cam trying to decide if I should get an airbrush...but a nice metallic finish on any of those quick builds would look great in my opinion.
Heard a news item on the radio on Saturday about how Lego (TM) are releasing a McLaren car in bricks and it was announced at McLaren HQ - ideal Fathers' Day present and so on. Wonder why Airfix didn't get that kind of coverage? Maybe Saturday was a slower news day? Hope they push hard when the Quickbuild London bus is available as they should shift thousands of those...
Very interesting mate!! Seeing that mclaren licence the brand to Airfix.. that London bud looks a bit epic too!! Outside the box, I wonder how many people would buy that bus if Airfix released it as a 1/32 scale model kit 🤓🤓
How many times did you catch yourself reaching for the Extra Thin? 🤔 Good point about a good gift for the non Modeller peeps. The Lego stuff is pretty big over here. About half the in person questions i get is the "like the Lego kits?" when I mention modelling. Hopefully Airfix can make a very broad range and get that end profitable. Really, how many times did you go vroooom? I know I would have 😜☕🐢
Another modeller on here built the Airfix Quickbuild Messerschmitt BF109 and near the end of the video, after much mention of Lego, found a Lego Marvel Thor figure and it fitted in the cockpit perfectly (albeit standing up)!
If Airfix (Hornby) did Aston Martin DB5s and English Electric Lightnings in the Quickbuild format instead of Spitfires, VW Volkswagons and Red double decker buses, they would make billions worldwide.... Edit: Dear Hornby, if you want make large guaranteed sums of money then spend a few quid on licensing the rights to certain classic Gerry Anderson craft like a Captain Scarlet Quickbuild series featuring the SPV, SPC and MSV. £15,000,000.00 or so could easily be recouped just by making some canny marketing led SF franchise licenses. Jes' saying....

Why the gloves?
That's a lot better looking than I expected
Hi Mos, I got the quick build Spitfire and Me109 for my 6 year old boy. Hours of fun....and dogfights.
They are excellent matey
They really do look like Lego
Yep they do
Cool little build 🤙🏼
worth looking out for them
Would be interesting to see one given a custom paint job .

Hi Mos
How long in real time did it take you to build the kit?
About 20-30 mins..
I'd air brush it a metallic silver me lid.
good idea

It’s pretty obvious. It’s because air fix is no where near as popular as Lego.
