Cleary a lot of people here don't understand the difference between Remake and Remaster. Here is the explanation: REMASTER - Refers to changing the quality of the sound or of the image. For example: Final Fantasy 8 Remaster, The Last of Us Remaster. REMAKE - A video game remake is a video game closely adapted from an earlier title, usually for the purpose of modernizing a game for newer hardware and contemporary audiences. Example: Resident EVIL 2 REMAKE, Tomb Raider Anniversary (remake from Tomb Raider 1). I hope I made this clear.
This classic trilogy should be released officialy on consoles, man...it would work, no doubt.

Why is Crystal Dynamics just sitting on this series when they could be making tons of money by just releasing the original games remastered like this? If fans can do it, you'd think they could.
The new textures are absolutely gorgeous. I would buy all the old school tombraider games again if they were like this.

This third installment in the series is the most favourite of mine.. And South Pacific levels are (with the Nevada ones) most probably the best-designed ones of the whole game.

I want remaster of TR 1 (yes, anniversary is great, and I dont mind another TR 1 remake), TR 2, TR 3 instead of the mediocre and boring Shadow of Tomb Raider.

The mismatched texturing on big square blocks of geometry is hilarious lmao. But it's Tomb Raider. It has a place in our hearts.

Ah this one is easily one of my favourite TR games. The only thing that bothered me is that the environment is sometimes too dark
Yes that pissed me off on the PS version but on the PC version you can make it brighter which makes the game so much easier :) especially in London, jesus christ.
Filip Zawistowski unfortunately I never owned the pc version back in the day, but I have tried it and it is way better. Not only because of brightness setting and graphics but also because you could save your game an unlimited amount of times.
I agree with you about London. Playing Lud’s Gate in those underwater tunnels with such low brightness was a total pain!

Ici en voyant le remastered de la trilogie ce dernier fait triste figure. Il faudrait aider celui qui a fait cette demo car il mérite. BRAVO.

I remember my dad purchasing this game along with crash bandicoot 2 when he first bought me my Psone in 1997, I was 7, TR3 was so difficult for me I barely cleared first level.
Today I'm 30 an I'm still amazed on how difficult this game is even tho I'm a good gamer today, not a fortnite ,COD, PUBG gamer I mean real games btw..
You are an absolute great player, you'll nail every god damn game you'll play for sure, I think TR3 and TR4 and alone in the dark probably are the most complicated games in PSone history in my opinion.

I’m sorry but IMO the original textures look better. It just clashes a lot with the boxy design of the game to have crisp textures like this. The added detail makes it more noticeable how repetitive the textures are on rocks and trees which are supposed to have some slight illusion of nature.
A few TRLEs have decent graphics in the TR4 engine, but that’s usually achieved through a combination of lighting, textures and high poly objects to make the environment blend more. A lighting overhaul would do a lot to improve this mod.
I think a closer adaptation would have worked fine by keeping it just as stylised as the original game with those bold colours and shadows. Also, I'm pretty sure the rocks were actually more varied on the original map, they squeezed as much variation as they could out each tile to compensate. But, it's clear this remaster is intended to a 'realistic' HD remaster. Which would indeed clash with the low poly, boxy environment. It looks like the team are recognising that with lighting changes and updates to Lara's model but it definitely deviates away from what could be considered a straightforward remaster and into a visual remake territory.
Those were true platfors and not this crappy nowdays uncharteds or tomb raiders where you only have to push a buttom in order to advance.

Do you know the difference between remaster and remake ? For example, the last Final Fantasy X for ps4 is a remaster. Better textures in general and HD quality. If you look for the original Tomb Raider 3 game and compare the textures between that and this you will see a huge difference in term of textures and graphics.

I reckon that remakes of the original Tomb Raider games a la Resident Evil 2 would sell extremely well but I can't see it happening, regardless of who owns the IP, because it would probably clash with the story from the reboot trilogy. I wonder whether they could somehow combine the two. I'm sure that it could be done but I don't see it happening. Seeing what fans can do with the likes of The Dagger Of Xian makes me sad to think what could be but won't.

Hi! so basically you need the own the original game. If you buy on steam sometimes is just $1 dollar. The remaster is free to download but right now you only can play India levels and Pacific. Cheers.

Needs to be enhance. Also add fix the first levels making the first area easy and then the five other level no mercy. Peru, India, London, Nevada, South Pacific, and Antarctica with Deadly Hollows as well.

Wish someone would make a properly working set of the first five games for PS4. I don't even care about the HD aspect, I'd be happy with the original graphics. I can't ever get the Steam games to work worth a shit, especially the first two games. I would also like them to include all the "Gold" bonus levels from the first three games and the Times Exclusive level and anything else I'm forgetting.

Are the controls sorted out as well? I've got this game on my PS3 but the controls are unusable now. I actually had the PC version of this at one point. it was bundled with our first PC in the 90s but no idea what happened to the disk

Nice to watch and reminisce, but in my mind TR3 was a weak entry in the franchise. TR1 & 2 are excellent, and 4 is pretty decent, but this and Chronicles, of the PS1 games are not too great. Of the later games, only Anniversary was enjoyable, and the more recent games, well, they are not really TR games, in the proper sense, but then again, i prefer the older games to new stuff, much like my music, and movies
