  • Capt'n Billy thanks for the invite and the non-stop laughs. In this episode he takes me to a Cape Cod on a promontory to detect a house for sale. For some, dreams do come true and this farm is a gem!!

    Hello from Knoxville my friend. That video looked like it was so much fun. Watching the young people dig a hole in 15 seconds that would take me 10 minutes. Sorry I’m late today I had pulmonary rehab and my wife had a eye doctor appointment. I really enjoyed the video as always. Stay safe and I will be looking forward to next week’s video. Say hello to the family for me.

    🤣🤣 I loved the opening music. Had a hint of detective tune and tempo to me. Like Robert Downy, Jr's Sherlock Holmes movies at the part where he's about to find trouble and cause quirky chaos. -- Wow, looks like a Nazi brooch women wore to support Hitler in WWII. 🙄 War trophy or former supporter who immigrated later? I met a former Nazi army officer once, still loyal to Hitler and the Reich. In his late 60s at the time, but extremely fit, definition of the perfect Aryan, and named his dog Hitler (dog only responded to German). Scary freaking dude.

      @AppalachianHistoryDetectives  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Penny and your guess on this piece is as good as mine. I think it was brought over as a trophy of sorts from the War. It is Sterling Silver and who knows about those gems if they are diamonds or not....Billy may have something there! Get well out there.....looking forward to chatting with you.

    Maybe that heel plate was to a cavalrymen's boot, or a cowboy. It is pretty narrow. Hard to imagine ladies having steel heel plates on their shoes otherwise I'd say that's to a lady's shoe or boot.

    • @ptaylor4923
      @ptaylor4923 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd go with heel plate for lady's shoe.

      @AppalachianHistoryDetectives  ปีที่แล้ว

      The site was old. We found a cannon ball there and many clay pipes. I didn't show all of this but I think it went to a boot too and I'm thinking a woman's boot. However people were smaller in stature back then so who knows.

    • @AppalachianHistoryDetectives

      Sterling Silver...Diamonds were man made though....no idea how it got there. You never know what you find...I found a Nazi coin in a field in WV..poor Billy, not sure what he's gonna do with it.

      I saw it said Berlin which most likely means it is a real German artifact from WW2. The Nazis held power in Germany from 1933 to 1945 so somewhere in that timeframe. It must have been brought back from the war by a US serviceman I'd assume. I know my grandfather had some stuff he brought back like that in his attic I found after he passed.

  • @jesussierramiranda2177

    That Swastica must be dated. What if it’s real??? What the heck that thing was doing there???

    • @AppalachianHistoryDetectives
      @AppalachianHistoryDetectives  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's real for sure. Many soldiers coming back from the war brought small trinkets with them as trophies of war. This was Sterling Silver and I think the gems could be real diamonds. My pap who served there said soldiers would stuff silver ware in their bags to bring home. I found a Nazi coin in the fields of WV a couple of years back.

    A million views in 30 days metal detecting on TH-cam is over $10,000.00.
    Any Metal Detecting channel on this platform....with over 25,000 subscribers. Should have an RPM of $10.00 or over.
    Ever wonder why none of these large channels show their income Todd? Metal Detecting on TH-cam?
    If you get your RPM up to $10.00. You will be able to say whatever you want. Why?
    Nobody around you is really making any money.

    • @rockscousteau
      @rockscousteau ปีที่แล้ว

      People have inflated numbers through the roof by paying.......to sell products. That is fraud.
      And RPM of $5.00 or under on a ton of views metal detecting on TH-cam...........proves deception to 100%.
      You are a smart enough guy.......this is all you have to do.
      Then you can talk all the trash you want. I mean it. I talk trash to all these people on a regular basis. All of them,

      What is a Big Shot TH-camr with a $3.00 Rpm average for the month going to say to a channel with a fraction of the views and subscribers and an Rpm 4 times higher?
      That is right Todd..................NOTHING.

    • @AppalachianHistoryDetectives
      @AppalachianHistoryDetectives  ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Hey Rocks good to hear from you. I just watched your most recent video and it's been awhile since we have chatted. It's actually worse than that...go to www.socialblade.com and type in any TH-cam Channel out there if you want to see how much they are making. Remember, the $10,000 for over a million views on TH-cam is a misnomer. TH-cam gets 45% of that....plus taxes are claimed and not all views contain ads in the video, only about 10% of them. I know people think a big TH-camr makes a lot of money from TH-cam. I saw what one with over a million makes and it is about $25,000/yr with $30,000 at the most ($2,000/mo what I saw). People think they are a millionaire. Now, most TH-cam Channels have Patreon's, that pay them more than the ad revenue from YT. I have Patrons on my channel and do better than YT ad revenue. So if a channel is making say $2,400/mo for over a million and a half views in a month...and $1,200 in Patreon...and some corporate sponsorships, then they can make $50-60,000....would you do it for that? Most full time jobs are the bread and butter. Remember too that these who do this full time have to get outside health insurance for them and any family member....and pay for expenses associated with travelling everywhere and that will take nearly all of it. It's why I don't do it for the money and have only kept it to help my son learn history both in content (writing) and context (let's go see what we can find there). I have no idea why small channels make it a big deal to get monetized. If you don't have several million views a month, you won't be making near $100,000. Any professional job pays more than that with less than 10 years experience. For me as long as Patron and YT ad revenue pays for my gas to go out and have a day of fun....and that's all it should be....it stays a hobby.

      Metal Detecting channels aren't money makers even for the "big channels"....need to have a hot chick, scary story genre or crime (Mr Ballen or That Chapter)....

      I think when someone "sells out" to their sponsor's and does it for money they lose what made them creative. Like the NFL vice College Football. Personally one of the biggest names in Metal Detecting (Nora Svet) does better with view RPMs than the most famous guy does with a million subscribers who is lucky to get 20,000-40,000 views per video....and has over 1,700 videos....LOL
