Roger I don't know how to private message your channel but I have an important question and would like your opinion. I'm getting ready to purchase my first kayak and I'm goung with a Hobie. I will use it out of sunset bay, coos bay, the coquille River systems, tenmile lakes, etc..both for fishing and spearfishing. I'm undecided between a pro angler 360 in a 12 or an outback like you have. I will.also use it for surf launches at Port orford to northern California coastline. Your opinion would be very helpful. Thanks

my first Hobie was a 2012 PA12, then 2012 Oasis, then 2019 Outback. For ocean swells/bar crossings/beach launches, I feel that the PA12 size/height/weight means you have less control over the outcome of serious situations. I have absolutely found the new design Outback, at 12.5', fairly wide but low to the water, to give me much more confidence that I can get out of almost any 'pucker moment' without a bad outcome. Key Outback items: drop down rudder, steering control on both sides, wide seat (in my case, this lets me shift my weight to offset when Pepper's weight is off center), retractable transponder cover large enough for side scanning system. The low speed glide of the Outback is amazing, it makes trolling salmon so easy. I strongly recommend the aluminum rudder from SAI.

@@RogerEmigh I got the PA12 THEN the outback. Crazy story but now I'll see you on the water. Your an inspiration thanks a ton! I've started YAKVENTURES on TH-cam and it's in its infancy. Totally struggling with a good video edit app but all the same I'll eventually overcome the hurdle and get it on the water. Pun intended. I also just ordered the SAI Super Rudder. Thanks for the suggestion.
