11:00 that's a point I never even thought about. It's like Doctor Strange said, dreams are windows into the lives of our multiversal selves. It adds a whole other dimension to Kang's conflict with his variants.
I wasn't 100% behind it at the beginning, but by the scene on the boat with Ravonna...and the "partner" scene. I totally got it. Was it just me or did his stutter come and go? Which also made me suspect? I'm holding off on calling Timely good just yet.
@@nellybell32 He was exceptional. I have never judged her for this marital affair and I prefer to let justice take its course. What is certain is that this should not prevent us from being impartial about his work and he was phenomenal in this episode. I finally have hope in the MCU again.
Victor Timely, Miss Minutes and Sylvie are all tragic victims of the original Kang in many ways. Miss Minutes because all she wanted from Kang was love, which being the evil bastard he is used that to ensure her loyalty and nothing else. Sylvie because like Victor, she is a variant who had her life ruined because she wanted break the cycle and be a good person. And Victor because he is much like Leonardo Da Vinci or Nikola Tesla, a genius ahead of his time who wants to genuinely make the world a better place, but is a victim of forces beyond his control, just like Sylvie.
My theory based on what victor said about OB is that kang uses OB as kind of his memory card and also the meaning of his name being a symbol of the snake eating it’s own tail (ala a loop) show’s OBs significance to the arrival of kang. I think kang has let OB keep his memory so that he ALWAYS writes the tva manual and is the keeper of said manual who never interacts with anyone who can interrupt his purpose. And in turn eventually when the loom fails, and kangs presence is needed, that manual will somehow find its way into a new timeline where kang is born. Thus repeating the process over and over again.
the fact that Timely basically got past Sylvie's murder intent was to essentially use her own words about "choice" against her. And her choice to send Ravonna to end of time...means she will likely regret that decision.
For some reason i cant move past the fact that Timely is a trickster and a fraud. It was clear he wanted to go to the TVA on his own accord and he is heading there now. He will pull a quick on for sure.
Johnathon Majors is a rare actor that makes you forget its cinema and makes you believe that what you are watching is real.. amazing talent! I hope Kang stays for a Long time and that that Majors stays in the MCU for anlong time as his own variant
@CinePals, 12:10 Well, Kang is a man obsessed with time, so much so that he conquered--For All Time. Always. What inspired a clock design? Time. What represents time? A clock. 13:50 There's truth to this and we heard about it last season and saw it in Quantumaina too--for a time Nathaniel Richards (He Who Remains) and his Variants worked together...until they didn't and started a Multiversal War with one another. But we also heard Kang in the first episode talking with Ravonna and how she helped him win the war. This is something the story is sure to build on in the stories to come. There's more to HWR and Ravonna, and I think it was pretty much spelled out to us in the first episode and hinted at in this story too--they are an item in the comics! Last season, many of us likely assumed Ravonna was being flippant when she told Sylvie that she couldn't remember what Sylvie's Nexus Event was, but when you couple that with everyone else at the TVA having their mind wiped, you might think there's more to all this. Who oversaw all the administrative side of the TVA? Miss Mintues! He Who Remains was busy overseeing the flow of time at his Citadel at the End of Time. OB pretty much confirmed that last in the first episode when he told us that Miss Minutes took care of the Temporal Loom and that he only needed to run diagnostics for her every 300 hundred years or so. Miss Minutes is a jealous AI that wants more, and she's been running her own schemes behind the scenes. Sylvie created an opening, and she's moving on it, hard! She has a variant of the man she loves who doesn't fully understand what she is, and who isn't up to speed with is more knowledgeable self yet. Miss Minutes is very likely the one that mind-wiped everyone at the TVA, the one responsible for HWR giving up the game after ruling for millions of years while still in good health. "I've been dubbed many names by many people, a ruler, a conqueror, He Who Remains, a jerk." --He Who Remains I always thought Ravonna was the one who called him a jerk, but was he really? Did Miss Minutes sabotage their relationship? Is that why everyone at the TVA, save for OB, had their minds wiped? Is this also why one of the statutes inside the Citadel at the End of Time was broken? Did Miss Minutes break up the two lover birds and then erase Ravonna's mind, making her forget about HWR? 14:15 See all the clocks on the walls Jaby? That's likely why Miss Minutes is shaped like a clock. Victor always has time on his mind. You sort of mentioned this earlier when Victor spoke about dreams, but if you recall from Multiverse of Madness, dreams are Variants seeing their other own variants in the Multiverse in their sleep. 17:49 I don't doubt that what Miss Minutes has to say is going to make Ravonna angry, but is it the truth? Miss Minutes wants Ravonna out of the picture, and whatever she tells her, will do just that. Miss Minutes is a problem. She's Ultron on Multiversal Steroids! We saw what happened when Ultron got a body, but you sure gotta wonder what would happen if Miss Minutes got one. HWR knows about Ultron, and that's probably why he NEVER gave Miss Minutes a body. Yikes!
Putting the Victor Timely scene after Quantumania was a really smart choice (and is now retroactively the best thing about that movie) because the association with Kang creates an immediate expectation of Victor which this episode subverts brilliantly.
But does it? I mean yeah we feel for him by the end of the episode but there were small hints throughout this episode that he might be a Kang. The fact that he is a trickster and liar and that he actively wanted to go to the TVA either with loki or with renslayer and even after they ditched her.

This episode sorta laid the groundwork for an answer for a question I had that I couldn't find a definitive answer to; could someone be pruned outside of the TVA. We've only seen people pruned in the TVA, the only things we've seen pruned outside of it are timelines. Which I guess include people, but we dont see what happens to those people directly only the ground the Prune Bomb thing was placed on. When Renslayer was using the Proto-Pruner to threaten Victor Timely and destroyed the dummy sort of told me "it could definitely be possible".

So the date/location when renslayer first comes is sacred timeline, and the 1893 date is branched timeline (they are labeled as such). So HWR sent Ramona back to him on the Sacred Timeline, and her actions caused a branch. So Timely, up until that point, was Victor also. They are even more the same person than other variants can be. So he himself (not the other kang variants) gets back on the TVA throne, this time with Loki as a mentor. Maybe. Hard to tell because remember, Poor bumbling Victor is a conman. It would all be part of a con.

My Daughter and I Loved this that's not a variant Victor Timley is He Who He Remains Remember season 1 I'm alot older than I look that's him he set this up and he's not all bad.Remember Silvey had ultimate Tempad it was He Who Remains
That wouldn’t make sense tho if he’s going back and forth in the same timeline. His time travel may not necessarily be time hopping. It seems to be more like using the time stone where the past can effect the future (aka the grandfather paradox). So in that case there would only be one Loki, not multiple. So it would have to be someone else. Cause if we abide by normal movie Grandather paradox rules, pruning himself would also prune the old one too. Oh wait that would make sense because they did say he would be ripping all versions of himself from the timeline right? Or am I mistaken?
@@TheIcemanthomas all incorrect versions, yes. That's what pruning does. But since as of yet the sacred timeline is all botched up and Loki is basically a time glitch, he would be pruned from all timelines, only to be pulled into the correct one via Mobius.
@@TheIcemanthomas It's the way Sylvie reacted to Loki being there. She wasn't at all surprised to see him meaning she had to have seen him moments ago, hence her line "there you are". Also the only person that would know to prune Loki in that scenario is himself cause future Loki knows that on some particular day in the past, he was supposed to be pruned but time slipped into the future, so future Loki knows what to do in that moment. I could be wrong but this is the only thing that makes sense to me right now
why do i feel like Ravonna is another variant of Kang whose memory was erased by He who remains and didnt wanna kill her but keep her instead coz he loves her?
So narcisstic love like the one between Loki and Sylvie. This would mean she is a Kang variant and can be the next He Who Remains. Ravonna is not a scientist though but she may have been a science teacher before being a principle. Furthermore, fhe reason why Loki has a female version of himself is because he can shapeshift into whoever or whatever he wants. Kang is just a normal human being. Loki's identity can be changed but Kang is born a particular person.
Gabby saying "marvels" is the name of the company. When I watched this episode, it finally hit me that Victor "Timely" is a callback to the company before Marvel, Timely Comics.
it's really the old fashion way on how disney did these set peieces. real actor and extras on live set pieces..atleast as far as the ferrie wheel goes i assume
The ladies this episode. This was a good episode they made you feel for victor. and I think it's about to setup alot and antman 3 is going to influence what we may see next with this show. I feel like but we will see.
I have the same complaint Jaby has, Loki could have stopped all that nonsense when they were going after Kang, he is a God! Silvey is the only one that seem to always remember they can use magic!
Loki also is someone who loves a challenge and loves the thrill. Using his powers all the time would be too easy. Even in the movies he liked to talk first and magic later. He’s cunning and always plotting with his words as to be predictably unpredictable. Silvie never got to develop to that degree. All she knows is her power because she’s always had to use it for her survival.
And èven in the comics loki barely used his power until a last resort. He used them to turn into others but other times he relied on deception and trickery that's why he's known as the trickster god.
Why would loki use his powers to capture victor and potentially scare him or make him think they are the enemy which would not be in their favor, plus its loki powers he can use them as he please
This is my theory : Miss Minute is pretending to be in love with Kang. If she finds a real body she will take control of TVA either by killing Kang or subduing him.
The relationship between Kang and Ms Minutes reminds me a lot of Peter Pan and Tinkerbell in this episode. She always been by his side and he cares for her but doesn't love her, so kinda how Tinkerbell was jealous of Wendy, I noticed Ms Minutes was getting jealous of Renslayer when they were flirting on the boat.
It's not really a "chicken and the egg" situation. Or a literal loop. Victor Timely may end up on the same path as He Who Remains, but he isn't _literally_ He Who Remains. So giving Victor the TVA guidebook isn'tt a chicken & egg scenario since it's all different timelines.
Loki hasn't used his powers much hardly at all, especially in the first season many times where it could have been useful. Not in the TVA, but in the crumbling time and other settings. Maybe he's too powerful so they have to keep him from using his full powers? I don't really understand the decision, and it makes Loki seem dumb to mainly use his powers as parlor tricks but not in dire situations.
Epitome of Nerfed. Also, he’s an Asgardian ( or Frost Giant) and has comparable strength to them, so he should have no trouble chasing Humans down an alley or moving even the biggest of mortals around with ease. I guess you can rationalize it as he is holding back because of it’s not necessary or he prefers Magic and wizardry. But, this is the same guy who survived a Hulk smashing and threw Cap around.
Yeah let’s do everything efficient and sensible so there is nothing to watch. Plus let’s just do crazy magical stuff for everyone to see thus branching timelines.
btw if you havent noticed the russian flag is wrong in in the beginning of the episode where they were about to enter the fair. may be it is deliberate but yeah...
This episode went all minority report on us: destiny/predetermination/fate versus free will/choice, can you summarily judge and harshly punish a person for the terrible heinous crimes that they MIGHT commit in a POSSIBLE future, by a VARIANT version of themselves? gg no re, once again i truly loved this episode, i hate having to wait until next week to see next episode....loved 1893 Chicago World Fair settings/design!!! Finally paid off the full version of the post-credit scene from Ant Man and the Wasp: Quantumania!!! You can perceive how unsure, nervous, uncertain Victor Timely is of himself and the world around him, genius yes but he is also very lonely, afraid of attachment to others...quite the doubting thomas if you will believe....what a performance by Jonathan Majors....clear difference in the delineations between Victor Timely, He Who Remains, Rama-Tut, Scarlet Centurion, Immortus, and of course KANG THE CONQUEROR....all variants of NATHANIEL RICHARDS!!!! P.S. what's the secret about Ravonna Renslayer does Miss Minutes know? Any theories yet?!!!!
"Can you judge and punish a person for the terrible heinous crimes that they MIGHT commit" I think in Moon Knight there's the same debate, like, you would execute a child for a crime they MIGHT commit in the future. "What's the secret about Ravonna Renslayer does Miss Minutes know" judging by the recording that Loki heard back in episode 1, apparently Renslayer was a partner or something of HWR, but got her memory erased at some point. So the secret could be related to their relationship in the past. He mentioned that with her help, he could win the multiversal war. What could rival the power of a Kang? Another Kang, perhaps?
@@tanthokg same could apply to twins....one good and one bad, you can't punish the innocent just because they look like and they are related to the guilty.
I can see glaring hints of that..plus u can't forget Ouroboros being the title of the first episode aswell as a character that has been mentioned in all 3 episodes by some other character than himself. And the meaning of the name puts the final nail in the theory

Im SAG-AFTRA actress and I really miss working on these types of shoots! When everything is as live as possible. I hope the strike ends soon and we can return to your screens
My Daughter and I Loved this that's not a variant Victor Timley is He Who He Remains Remember season 1 I'm alot older than I look that's him he set this up and he's not all bad.Remember Silvey had ultimate Tempad it was He Who Remains
Wouldn't be surprised if Victor turns into an evil Kang and Ravonna turns out to be a Kang variant 😄
That's something interesting and maybe true 😮🤔
I just realized something, Loki's future self pruned his present self in Ep 1, right?
Not confirmed, but highly speculated.
I could be wrong but this is the only thing that makes sense to me right now
Thought the same back then
why do i feel like Ravonna is another variant of Kang whose memory was erased by He who remains and didnt wanna kill her but keep her instead coz he loves her?
So narcisstic love like the one between Loki and Sylvie. This would mean she is a Kang variant and can be the next He Who Remains. Ravonna is not a scientist though but she may have been a science teacher before being a principle. Furthermore, fhe reason why Loki has a female version of himself is because he can shapeshift into whoever or whatever he wants. Kang is just a normal human being. Loki's identity can be changed but Kang is born a particular person.
Nah, there was literally a scene in the first season showing her past life being a teacher
15:15 straight out of aliens
Gabby saying "marvels" is the name of the company. When I watched this episode, it finally hit me that Victor "Timely" is a callback to the company before Marvel, Timely Comics.
Tom Hiddleston is also one of those people that doesn’t seem to age at all…😳
it's really the old fashion way on how disney did these set peieces. real actor and extras on live set pieces..atleast as far as the ferrie wheel goes i assume
6:51 Loki could just conjure up an unlimited amount of money and *BUY* the loom!
I always wondered why in Majors performance he talks really slowly as every variant of kang
Yeah I always just assumed it’s the study of time and knowledge that time isn’t linear so neither is his speech pattern
Why ?
That comparison with Sarah Connor and Miles Dyson was quite apt.
One more example why Ai is so dangerous 😶🌫️
At least you'll get someone who loves you
The ladies this episode. This was a good episode they made you feel for victor. and I think it's about to setup alot and antman 3 is going to influence what we may see next with this show. I feel like but we will see.
This is where the fun begins
From He Who Remains, to He Who Is Remains
Isn’t Victor Kang’s ancestor?
Best ep so far this season
I feel like this episode was a reference to the bootstrap paradox
Why would loki use his powers to capture victor and potentially scare him or make him think they are the enemy which would not be in their favor, plus its loki powers he can use them as he please
To be fair, Timely doesn't seem like all his choices were his, they were chosen for him
This is my theory :
Miss Minute is pretending to be in love with Kang.
Producer guy: How did Mobius and Loki know where Viktor's lab was?
Screenwriter guy: Unclear.
I see Ryan George has infected Jaby's vocab as he's done ours
Ms. Minutes? Someone begged for even a small role in the MCA. When she complained this is 1 dimensional Ms. Minutes was born.
Victor is a mad scientist. In fact all the Kangs are mad scientists.
It's gonna be that they are married and he erased her mind
timely is the ORIGINAL name of the company so its on there TWICE
Oh that's interesting, I didn't know that!!
He also has diverse powers like Telepathy, telekinesis, teleportation and other interesting ones. Hope they make him use them all.
Watch him side by side to He Who Remains same mannerism
Yeah let’s do everything efficient and sensible so there is nothing to watch. Plus let’s just do crazy magical stuff for everyone to see thus branching timelines.
If Sylvie killed Timely would that have changed the course other than he who remains since Kang himself is from the 31st century?
Predestination Paradox.
btw if you havent noticed the russian flag is wrong in in the beginning of the episode where they were about to enter the fair. may be it is deliberate but yeah...
Oliath (I think that's how you spell it!) is the negative energy of multiple Renslayer variants, all bundled up and weaponised by Kang/Timely!
@@tanthokg same could apply to twins....one good and one bad, you can't punish the innocent just because they look like and they are related to the guilty.
Amazing episode.
Miss minute is the real baddass
Great reaction!❤😊
God I love Jonathan majors 😭😭
partnership and the get dropped in live saving boat...that's cruel asf. a commentary on rulers and civilians as it ever was
I can't lie the music was great this ep
In India, the episode was released with the name "Episode 9" not 1893... What's going on??
Someone counted season one over there as part of the number.
If kang is that smart everything that happened this episode was supposed to happen
I can see glaring hints of that..plus u can't forget Ouroboros being the title of the first episode aswell as a character that has been mentioned in all 3 episodes by some other character than himself. And the meaning of the name puts the final nail in the theory
Now what if Miss Minutes gets a body for herself by the end?
I always have issues with power sets in the MCU. However I’ve just decided to take it as the powers work for whatever the situation is.
Please react to “THAT THING YOU DO!” from 1996, directed by Tom Hanks.
Everyone saw miss minute that's why it's on tony stark t-shirt maybe
Somehow theres always something so terrifying about a female robotic A.I. entity.
Miss Minutes is more scarier than Ultron.
miss minutes was afraid of he who remains 🤔
Shane about Jonathan Majors and Tara Strong.
This fucking start after episode 3. Is everything has to be a Starfield now?
Miss minutes like kang more than Ramona 😅
good comparison with t2. sylvie as sarah connor and victor as miles dyson is just too on the nose. she even looks like linda hamilton. 😄
I'm calling it. Renslayer is a female variant of Kang
I think she is a variant of kang.
Nah…
