Watching them perform this live was so cool because they cut the live footage (on the big screens) with prerecorded video of them in these outfits and they made it look like it was camera glitches! One of the best concerts I have ever been to.
ATEEZ, yes! This is the intro to the black Pirates ( Halateez), who are the other Ateez from dimension Z. This song is their first ever comeback after debut and like their 4th mv ever. The song to me is a call to action. The whole music video is dark and gray to represent Strickland, where it's all gray and gloomy since the oppressive government has banned anything that encourages emotion and creativity. The red represents the fire and determination Halateez has to fight the oppressive government. This is just my take, but it fits the storyline, and Hala Hala stands for Hearts Awaken Live Alive. They make cinematic and great music videos every time, even if they don't have a big budget like other companies. They are the best-selling 4th generation group from a smaller company. Sorry this is so long, but I'm so proud Ateez is getting more recognition 👏 ❤❤️
I have never hit play so freaking fast on a video. This is the song that got me into K-pop and remained my favorite song until Halazia smashed into my life.
honestly I really wanna see how you guy react to the live version, San absolutely goes all the way out for the ending/dance break, he goes so much that he has broken so many mics 😭
I'm so glad you called out the striking blue-to-red shift in HALA HALA. There is some kind of fascinating color theory/thematic thing going in ATEEZ's music videos, especially in the TREASURE series (the first five albums), where one of the two title tracks is always heavily coded red and the other blue. The albums in the TREASURE series also rotate between blue and red, with blue symbolizing ATEEZ/pirateTEEZ and red evoking HALATEEZ. In the TREASURE series, they symbolize different themes but I haven't really figured out what that is yet. It's interesting that in the exact midpoint of the TREASURES series (the ILLUSION music video), we get prominent Purple color scheme introduced for the first time, since purple is a mixture of red and blue. There's also a hidden HALATEEZ cameo in ILLUSION at exactly the 3:00 mark which is clearly intentional but mysterious. The color yellow also appears for the first time in ILLUSION in a tiny but prominent way, and then become the full theme color in Fireworks in the TREASURE series, and later Turbulence. What does it mean? Your guess is as good as mine... But back to HALA HALA -- isn't the opening choreo/image cool? They're creating a real-life mirrror image/effect or Rorschach image, which symbolizes the parallel existences of ATEEZ and HALATEEZ.
The movement could also represent the movement of a ship on water, cause Ateez are interdimensional rebel pirates. Ateez’s camera work is always so intricate, no matter how low budget they go.
I agree with your rant about reaction videos 😂 I honestly prefer your videos where you go in depth about what you observed and what it evoked in you, both as an artist and as a casual viewer! I do really like that you’re committed to watching the video as cohesively as possible upon first viewing before jumping around, too, but don’t be afraid to pause whenever the hell you like. Really happy to see you liked this video and song so much!!!!!
The first time I ever hear Ateez I was immediately drawn to the beautiful leader (Captain) of the group and the maknae. The young one put the voice of a rock god: Steve Perry of Journey. This young man has got some pipes on him!!😊
This was their first comeback after debut. It still blows my mind that they were ROOKIES and performed at this caliber. And they came from a small, nothing company. They've looked like seasoned veterans from the beginning.
We ABSOLUTELY want you to go back through and comment and tell us things!!!!!!!! That's the joy of eatching a director and music nerd react to something!!!! That's the point! :D
Love all the Ateez reactions 💜 HALA HALA is what got me into them, so talented and really do deserve more recognition. Also, they are amazing live!! Performance on point. Also we love the Director viewpoints Roscoe, mixed in with a little bit (a lot) of chaos!! 😄
Thank you. I love it when technical people react. I learn a lot and I get to appreciate more of the production. Ateez has one heck of support group. Kudos to all of them.
This may be random, but the year to this vid (black & white, wide ratio) is short but worth a watch. Maybe more creative in 2019, but even today it's very eye catching.
Ateez's amazing concept, Sci-fi story and lore talk about a world with strict government that prohibits emotions so most of the music videos that tell the story of that world are desaturated and at one point you get a pop of color, usually red but not always. If you look at halazia you'll only see saturated colors when hongjoong is rapping on top of a car talking about what the government took from them. Their whole production is so cohesive, the storyline is captivating and visually stunning... Don't get me started on the actual music they make 🙌 I love the "simplicity" of hala hala, so clean! the choreo, the lights and the camera work get to really shine!
Bruv, your channel deserves way more views. I am a huge Ateez fan. They are such nice lads, they're hilarious, and they are talented AF. I am so happy to see someone my age enjoying their stuff. If you haven't, I'm begging you, please have a gander at The Real. You could spend half an hour to an hour on that thing. It is so good. The song itself is a banger, but the MV? You will love it I think. It's not part of their AU but it has its own story. Totally a trip. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I'm a medical scientist and I don't have any brain power left over to do anything creative with my time, so listening to someone talk about the creative process like this really scratches the part of my brain that craves being creative.
Good morning my dear Roscoe! As always, awesome reaction... I must say don't worry about all the talking you've just mentioned, we love it, relax, do your thing! We're listening!. And yes, with Ateez Mv's is natural to be exhausted at the very ending and I freaking love it! I often use their music to work out or just dancing around. Their music is dope and keep you hyped up from beggining to the end every single time. So, just for researching purposes, and to feed your Director curiosity, I think you'd probably like to watch: 1. Hi! Me again rolling over to Hala Hala from watching your Halazia video. This is one of those single location videos I talked about on your Halazia video. Their budgets were so low but you’d never, be able to tell. Their staff at KQ are incredible. I want to point out something you mentioned about the camera work. The word “HALA” means “Hearts Awakened Live Alive”, so while you thought you might be reaching a bit but that heartbeat action is EXACTLY what it is. This is all part of their story and in this video we are meant to be in the room watching them form this rebellion. Their story is super in-depth with time-travel, inter dimensional travel, and several different versions of themselves.
I really love your Director Roscoe commentary on MVs, have loved them since the beginning. It gives me another reason to appreciate the masterpieces we've witnessed over this journey. 💜🫂
We love that you take time and talk abt everything in the song, please do that! And i am just very curious if you could watch it's live version because the dance break goes crazy in live versions, you can watch any live version but the preferred ones would be the post 2020 versions since you can see even more power and aggression in the performance, they have just always improved their facial expressions with time and i believe you would love those!
Thank you so much for showing us what you are reacting to. We love the video, but we have no idea of the techniques and what is really happening behind it, it is very satisfying to know and understand. Thank you for giving this attention to ATEEZ too. I've already become a fan of yours.
10:26 I've been watching this performance MV for the 3 past years but I didn't realized the back&forth movement of the camera. I love a reaction videos that described the layers of ATEEZ amazing production levels ❤❤ Thank you for your reaction vid
I saw an interview where the boys were talking about this video, and they said right before this video, Wooyoung and Mingi got into it about something, and in the whole video, Wooyoung is fuming Then, when they got home, the 2 finished the fight.
You are quickly becoming my choice reactor. I have a great time, love the banter, and feel like I learn at the same time! As an educator and kpop lover, I am impressed. Thank you! Which means talk all you want. 😉
Ateez never miss! the video, choreography, music arrangement and voices, are so good! + the Lore is to die for, I love them, totally my ult group in Kpop
Amazing song! It has everything and makes you want to punch the wall lol This era was for sure the best of their career! Not a single skip in that album

I think the lighting and wardrobe for this were excellent. The way it sharpens the lines of their bodies (even though though they have the long coats). Perfect with the low camera angles when they are in formation and the long shadows. 😂😂😂... This taste so good!!! Yeeees, we agree❤. This MV was so overlooked in Korea when it dropped 😢.. it did not even make it in the top 50 in the kville charts! But Baby, the rest of the world... Reacted appropriately🎉 This was to me and mine on the same level as MJ's 'Smooth criminal '💐🎶... We loved all your screaming, chair shaking, head bopping...
Ateez is F EPIC!!!! They are brilliant and genius performers with their concepts. I honestly am not into Kpop ,very good genre! However most of them I find it kinda kiddish ,amateurish composition….. Ateez has many complex layers yet easy to listen to,easy in the ears!
Absolutely loved your reaction- it’s a take I never knew I needed! The Hala Hala MV is what got me into Ateez years ago ❤ I’m going back watching your other Ateez (and Stray Kids😊) vids - I noticed you don’t really go into the details on some of them. Is there a reason for that? I was really interested in hearing you go through Case 143 especially!
Hey buddy! It really depends on when the reaction happened. If I remember correctly, Case 143 happened during our 24-hour Charity livestream and it was more about raising money than the in-depth reactions themselves; we wanted to give more people a chance to participate. :)
Just wanted to clear it up for new and confused Atinys. Halateez aren't really good or bad. They are just Ambitious and willing to do anything to accomplish their goals or dreams. They are "burning" with passion for their dreams. The so called "suicide Squad" that Hongjoong had in mind when they first debuted. Because the all to 1 albums were very "me/my goals and dreams" (see Desire Lyrics or Live video for reference) compared to the "yours/our dreams and the journey along the way" (see Utopia lyrics for example) mentally of the Treasure albums. You can even see in Answer Mv that the answer is not Ateez or Halateez, but Both. You need ambition/passion to achieve your goals and you need the experience/the friends along the journey and hope to achieve your goals/dreams. Hope this helps clear some confusion for others 💜
If you liked this cinematography, you will love Answer, Ode to Joy by Ateez th-cam.com/video/-uDitNeFO-I/w-d-xo.html also, Wonderland Halloween Special, because it's just so cool! 😂 th-cam.com/video/AFP6QLw0ClY/w-d-xo.html I stan BTS, but I love Ateez as well! Borahae 💜
Can you react to X JAPAN song (Kurenai). They are one of the first rock bands in Japan that had a speed metal style. All members are extremely talented especially their guitarist Hide Matsumoto!!!
Just to let you know since you are so interested in the BTS of videos. Ateez tends to do BTS on their music videos so you can see how they make them. I do believe there is one for HALA HALA.
They had a warehouse, some lights, some dancers and one hell of an impact 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Perfectly said!! 🔥🔥🔥
Watching them perform this live was so cool because they cut the live footage (on the big screens) with prerecorded video of them in these outfits and they made it look like it was camera glitches! One of the best concerts I have ever been to.
I thought the same when I saw them -- ATEEZ put on the best live show ever! Absolutely unmissable if they come to your town~
I was so close to going to the atl show in i think 2022. Now i haaaaaave to go!!! @@redcrest5
